Hatsukoi limited follows the lives of a group of teenagers from a few schools that are connected in some way or another. It covers the early part of their love lives and deals solely with the issue of love. So for those who enjoy school romance you will probably enjoy this series.
The story i gave a 10 because it was clique but at the same time original at some points. While it's about a typical school romance it involves many characters that shape the story differently from a usual school romance. We get to see all sorts of love which is why i really enjoyed
...
the series. From unrequitted to mutual to family. All are touched upon. The story can be said to be quite light hearted as it involves a lot of humour, but it is not too slapstick and it does have its serious moments which make the story entetaining. I think what i enjoyed most was the realism in the story in that it's not always a happy ending but it still gives us the feeling that it is in its own way because of the way the characters feel or get out of the experiences. I also found it interesting how the story intertwines the characters such that there is always some relation to another character and we go like "what a development! so complex!".
The art was appropriate for the series. The characters were drawn out vividly and colourful which suits the light heartednes of the story. The humour came out quite nicely as well as it's not like those blank face drawings you get in the more humourous animes and the scenery is done up quite nicely as well so 9 for art.
The sound i gave an 8 because in relation to other animes i have seen it cannot match up to the wide selection that they give. But nonetheless, there were several endings used in different episodes that helped to bring out the mood at the end of the episode. Personally i felt the ending song was a more appropriate for this anime than the starting. So all in all an 8, because i think that it has potential for more.
The characters were fantastic. I would give this anime a high9 which rounds off to 10. Considering the length of the anime, i think that the characters were given decent coverage and there is depth to most of the main characters. the only one who has little depth would be enomoto's sister whose love life was not covered. The story is really character-driven in that we get to see the story from many different angles depending on whose love life it is focussed on in each episode. Of course the main characters is still Ayumi but we get to see different points of view on love based on the different characters. This is what makes the story so colourful. Which is why i have to give both story and characters 10 as they go hand in hand. The characters have very real and different personalities which are explored in this story and help to make it intersting. I'd say that almost all the characters are main characters because they get an equal coverage and hence it adds to the realism as it's not some anime where the main character always wins in the end.
Overall, i think the anime was great in balancing the comedy and romance in the story. It can be said to be somewhat of a romantic comedy though there is no one focus. The episode length was actually quite adequate for this anime because of its ending which i will not spoil. For an anime of 12 episode, i must commend it for being one of the best i have seen in terms of character development and plot development. You will surely enjoy this series unless you are into more psychological or drama genres.

NOTE: I have not read the manga so my view on this anime may differ slighlty from those who have.
Vampire knight guilty is a continuation of the original series Vampire Knight. The series is set in a school that caters to both vampires and humans that are separated into the night and day classes respectively. The story revolves around a girl whose first memories she can remember is being attacked by a vampire and being saved by a pureblood vampire which is the highest rank. She starts to harbour feelings for both her good friend and vampire hunter Zero as well as the pureblood who
...
saved her which is currently in the school.
I think the story was quite original from the usual vampires and stuff. Incorporating the shuojo genre very well. That is probably the main genre of ths series. Coupled with a bit of action here and there, suspense, drama and mystery to create a fairly good series. There are good twists in the show and the story is not so cliche in terms of the relationships between characters. However, the show can be rather dark at times, so if you prefer something more lightheated, comedic than prehaps this won't be the best choice of anime for you. Plot wise it may be a bit cliche, and don't expect heavy suspense or drama.
The art incorporates the typical shuojo style of drawing characters with big eyes and bishiounen(pretty boys). not necessarily the best i've seen but still of a decent quality. The background is mostly dull to help enhance the dark theme in tisi show.
The voice actors did a good job. Each voice fitting the characters perfectly. The OP and ED songs contribute to the gothic theme of the show. background music now and then also helps to enhance the atmosphere. But yet again, i would not say it was top-notch, there are better animes than this in the sound department.
The characters was what i was quite impressed in. Because they actually managed to cover a wide range of characters in the short span of 13 episodes. Of course some getting more depth and coverage than others but still the depth of each character can be seen clearly.
I enjoyed the series as a romance fan though i think the ending was not to my liking. Some of you will probably be disappointed with the ending as well so be prepared. This series is definitely better than the first. Having more action, more interaction between characters and more twists. I would say it is the best vampire-romance anime i have seen. So those of you who are considering whether the secod season is worth watching, i'd say give it a shot.

ef~tale of memories is the story about six main characters all linked in one way or another and are around the same age and their struggles in their love lives as well as their dreams.
The story was fantastic. Though a bit complicated, it was intricately woven with unpredictable twists and a unique and original plot. It can be a bit cliche at some points but it was still hard to tell what the outcome would be. Some will definitely complain that the story is confusing and it can be, but after reviewing everything carefully it creates a beautiful story, so patience is advised when watching
...
this series. The only problem i had with this story was the lack or realism in that it is portrayed as a bit of a fairytale with a happy ending for everyone. Of course such endings leave a good impression on the audience but there were some parts where i was like "it could never happen in real life". But aside from that it was a fantastic story, it warms the heart and makes us wish we could have such an ending.(in my opinion.)The drama and romance portrayed make this a must see for romance and drama fans, further more the story does not only emphasize on intimate relationships but on one's future as well which i found very absorbing especially since many of us, including myself, could empathise with the characters.
There are not enough words in my vocabulary to describe the beauty and skillfulness of the artwork in this series. The characters were drawn very well and the sceneries were just breathtaking. The scenic drawings were like paintings truly artistic. Another unique area in this series is how the story is expressed with special visual effects and how they they use the colours to enhance the atmosphere such as the use of a negative viewpoint(black and white). A spectacular piece of work.
The sound was another area that deserves praise for the amount of effort placed in this field as seen with the numerous endings(5 endings i think) that correspond to different episodes depending on how the episode ended and who the focus of that episode had been on. Also an english opening song was adopted for a change but it still suited the story very well and the lyrics do have meaning in this series. The background music inserted here and there did do a good job to enhance the mood and atmosphere in the story. fourth best sound managed anime i've seen. (first-NANA, second-Moon wo sagashiteru, third-Bokura ga Ita)
The characters all possesed a good amount of depth for such a short series and equal emphasis was given to each of the six main characters. Though little depth can be found in some of the side characters, i felt that the mysterious nature of these characters was necessary or even purposely done to create this wonderful story. Perhaps they will receive more depth in the second series . The characters all strive for their dreams and the struggles they go through are lifelike and real to a good extent. The drama is effectively brought out by the characters and we also see many viewpoints from the different characters present in the show. Without such characters this story would not be possible.
Overall, this anime is a must see for romance and drama fans and even if you're not one you might find that you share a thing or two in common with some of these characters. I really enjoyed the series as a romance-drama fan but i think it as more than just preference the art and sound played well to portray a nice and unique story. I don't think it can really be compared to any other romance anime. Though it does draw some similarities to True Tears ,another beautiful anime, but still this story is more absorbing and attractive than true tears in my opinion. SO for all you people looking for a new anime to watch that is unpredictable and original and still ends nicely even with the massive amount of drama then give this anime a try, you should not be disappointed.

Air gear is about a special kind of skates with a motor attached known as air treks. The story revolves around the life of Ikki a middle school student who learns about air trek and has humoungous talent and interest in the air treks and as a result is soon sucked into the world of air treks.
I found the story a very unique and orignal shounen anime. Of course you would expect the usual qualities like perserverance, determination and stuff being eminated by the protagonist but what made this so attractive was how they created such an interesting story from skates with motors in
...
them. A good deal of action and a tinge of drama makes this a worthwhile watch and to top it off the comedy is at a decent level, though the anime can be quite eichi at times. The character development is quite good as well but of course there is a smaller focus on romance and more on freindship. The story will appeal to those who like action, comedy or shounen genre...a must-watch.
The art in this anime was average. It was at a decent level but nothing exceptional.
The sound in terms of OP and ED songs were not bad. I think the voice actors did quite a good job and the voices matchd the characters perfectly. The inserts towards the end of the anime were quite effective in bringing out the atmosphere but too bad they only used one song. Still a good effort overall.
The characters had some depth but most of the focus was still on the protagonist. Perhaps due to time constraints or budget problems the anime could not elaboate more on the characters as is done in many of the big time shounen animes like bleach, reborn! or naruto. Still the it was quite entertaining anyway for a 25 episode series.
I really enjoyed the anime because it was something fresh and new compared to the usual shounen animes with special powers and all. This anime was more realistic or closer to real life and the fights were spectacular. The comedy was also quite entertaining.
Overall, this anime is a must see for shounen lovers and those who seek originality. This anime had a lot of potential. If it had lasted longer or if there was a second series it would definitely have done better in attracting viewers. As it was a bit rushed towards the end of the series, it was a bit hard to enjoy it towards the end, there is a possibility of a movie coming up and i will definitely look foward to it and any future development in this series.

Shugo Chara! is about a teenage girl named Hinamori Amu, who acts cool on the outside but is actually very shy. She wishes to become her would-be self and gets three shugo chara which are like guardian angels that represent your would be self. The story revolves around the guardians a soceity of people with shugo charas includingAmu and their adventures to find themselves and the ledgerndary Embryo which grants any wish.
This anime has a unique storyline and is a pleasure to watch. Like any typical magical girl anime you have flashy transformation and destroying evil which takes the form of X eggs and characters
...
in this anime, because of this it can be a bit cliche. The story does have some interesting developments but it also contains a lo of fillers which can be quite annoying at times. It is lighthearted and comical with a tinge of drama. However, for such a long series the story still lacks depth and this could have been made up by using the filler episodes to create more developments in the story.
The art was so-so. Nothing special, just your typical shuojo style characters with big eyes and varying hair styles.Nothing bad about it but nothing good either.
The sound was also ok. I think the voice actors did a good job though and each character was fitted with the perfect voices(quite cute especially the shugo charas). Besides that the songs sung during the show by Utau were quite good. But other than that not much else was done to enhance the atmosphere through the songs.
The characters were done up quite well partly due to the long span of the anime, most of the characters received some kind of depth and character development was visible throughoutthe show. Perhaps the fillers could have helped create even more depth for the characters. Even the villains get some depth. Very little romance is involved in this anime and is very suttle. Most of the interactions between the characters is merely friendly not intimate but there are some small occurences here and there.
Overall, i think the anime was not not as good as i had anticipated because it lacked the depth for a long span of 51 episodes and the fillers were quite annoying towards the end with the anime not going anywhere. But it is an interesting anime to watch because many can identify with the theme of a would be self and there are some meaningful messages embedded in the anime. Hopefully the second series will outdo the first.

Onegai sensei(Please Teacher) is a story about an 18-year old boy who has an illness that few know off that when he is feeling down he will faint. The story revolves around his encounter with an alien whom he has to marry in order to keep her secret and the feeelings that develop between them as well as the effect on his friends.
The story was quite lighthearted and comedic typical of a romantic comedy. But there was also drama added to the story to make it more interesting and attractive through the twists introduced into the story later on. Perhaps it may be a bit
...
cliche in the sense that this kind of story has been done before but there is only one focus here being one alien not that many trying to compete for the character's love. Perhaps it can be compared to that of To Love-Ru. The Romance in the story is handled in quite a realistic manner where you have rejection and that sort of thing involved not just the idealistic love between the main characters and the-end. Overall, i think the story was pulled off quite well but the comedy sometimes contradicts the seriousness of the show, well but that's just how i feel.
The art was not bad either, nothing exceptional about it but nothing bad either. A fairly commendable piece of work with the well drawn characters.
The sound was not bad either. There were inserts placed in the show to help bring out the atmosphere though the op and ed songs were not so much to my liking. I felt that the voice actors were quite good and fitted their characters quite well.
Ther characters were all contained a good deal of depth for a short anime like this. Each character was elaborated on a bit and were not left out. Even the supporting characters had a role to play in the story line and were not just there for comedic relief as is done for typical romantic comedies. The main characters have the best depth though and character developmet is present in some of the characters which creates a more realistic and watchable atmosphere.
On a whole i enjoyed the show, the comedy made it enjoyable at times and they managed to balance the comedy with the drama fairly well MOST of the time.If you're looking for something out of the ordinary with some sense still in place and some romance then give this show a try. It is a lighthearted comedy that will give you a warm feeling inside after watching it.Though at times it may a bit unrealistic or unbelievable, but hey its fiction anyway.

Basilisk is the story about two warring ninja clans who were experiencing a period of peace with both their heirs engaging in an intimate relationship. However, the peace treaty that kept the peace was broken and they were ordered by the emperor to kill each other and the story focuses on the battles that take place and the characters in it.
The story is a very dark and depressing story. That doesn't mean that it isn't good, in fact i thought it was a very meaningful show but it is quite mature. Those who are not fans of dark shows and prefer something more lighthearted, please avoid
...
this. Other than that the action in this show was fantastic as displayed through the numerous battles that take place. The romance occurs on a more suttle level but helps to add to the immense drama that unfolds throughout the anime. The story is very different from most animes because of the realism that is emphasized(WARNING:death is common in this show), it is filled with suspense and is unpredictable, definitely worth watching if you don't mind the gore and dark themes present. Another word of caution is that the story can be complicated and may take a while to understand so do give it some patience when watching the show.
The art was quite good. Since the story takes place in the Tokugawa era, the setting and scenery is very different from your modern day anime. The characters are drawn in a different yet eye-catching manner with dark settings to enhance the atmosphere. Some may complain that the darkness in the setting acts in contradiction and may make it harder to see what's going on so do expect this at some parts. Otherwise the blood and gore may not be so appeasing to the eyes but nonetheless provide realism to the story.
The sound was probably the worst area in the show. The voice actors were fairly ok. But other than that not much was done in the sound department. Only a little background music to enhance the depressing and eerie atmosphere from time to time.
Characters might i say were the best part of this show. Each characters was given some depth and we get to see the story from these characters perspectives from tim to time not just the main characters' perspective. Each character is elaborated on to show their reasons for their actions and it also serves to create more drama in the show. Many meaningful and deep messages are embedded in the thoughts and actions of the characters. And from the sheer number fo characters that were present in the show i must say that the producers did a fairly good job.
I enjoyed he fighting scenes in the show due to its more unique and lifelike styles, unlike the shonen styles. The blood(gore) makes the battles more real and life-threatening and therefore builds up the suspense that makes the audience hunger for more at the end of each episode(WARNING:can be addictive). Comedy is evidently absent in this dark and dramatic anime. Thus i found the story interesting and meaningful more than enjoyable in the sense of fun.
In conclusion, This show is meant for a mature audience due to the violence gore and partial nudity. Besides that the dark tones make it unpleasant to the lighthearted but otherwise bring out a meaningful and engaging story. If you are looking for some action and drama then this anime may be worth trying, but be aware that it is complex and requires patient and deep understanding.
And for those who do enjoy the anime, there is also a movie produced based on this story. The name of the movie is "Shinobi", not bad at all, though slightly different from the anime.

Itazura na Kiss is about a girl who is not so bright but very determined who falls in love with a verytalented and supposedly "way above her league" guy.The story follows the trials and tribulations that she goes through in her relationship with him.
I liked the story of this anime very much because it is one of the few animes that actually go so far as to follow the relationship of the couple after their marriage. this makes it different from most animes which just end the story when the two confess to each other or something along that line. However, a warning to all
...
that the story line is somewhat predictable and may bore you in terms of plot. The focus on the relationship makes the main genre of the story romance, which i think is portrayed very well in the show, along with the comedy making the show a fairly enjoyable romantic comedy. Another thing to note is that the story moves at an extremely fast pace from high school to college and then work. This may prove unrealistic but it allows us to see the progress in the relationship between the characters and can be overlooked.
The art was your typical shuojo style of animation with big eyes and the "cool" looking guys. It will not meet the standards of artworks like Fate stay night or True Tears(two animes that i also recommend). The style fits the genre of a romantic comedy which is more comical and lighthearted.
The sound was suited the anime with catchy and meaningful (lyrics) songs for the OP and ED. The inserts were also timed nicely to bring out the atmosphere at key points in the story and thus there is still actually some drama and in fact more so than your ordinary romantic comedy.
The characters all have a good deal of depth where most of the characters even the supporting ones have some showtime dedicated to them and thus the focus will not all be hogged by the main characters, this helps to create a more interactive environment for the main characters(more than one couple in the show). I think the characters are truly hysterical at times and is not overdone, thus you still can take the story seriously while getting a good laugh out of it.
I must say the combination of romance-drama-comedy make this anime very entertaining and enjoyable to watch. If you are a looking for a good romance anime with a bit of drama then this anime is for you. The anime is not too dull and will liven up your heart. Romantic moments are abundant in this show so if you love those nice cheesy romance or watching the hard work ploughed into relationships bearing fruit then you will like this. However, as mentioned earlier it can be quite predictable but hey sometimes the most ordinary things can be entertaining with a tweak of comedy added and a good cast of characters to liven the show. This is a romantic comedy at it's best.

True tears is a story that focuses on the life of a high school student and his interactions with the three heroines of the story. The story focuses on the romance and drama in the lives of the characters.
I think that the storyline was one of the best i have seen for a 13 episode anime. It was just the right length for such a story. The anime incorporates a lot of realism and really brings out the drama of a love triangle. The story looks at love from a path less ventured on and is different from your typical love story. Some may call
...
this a harem because all the main girls fall in love with the main character but it is very different from your usual harem because it looks at it from a more realistic and serious angle. Expect a lot of drama and meaning in this show. Though a word of caution that this show is a bit enigmatic due to its metaphorical usage of "chickens flying" and a strange and unique theme of tears. But you'll catch on eventually so do not fret even if you do not understand at first.
The art was simply amazing. The backgrounds and sceneries were drawn with such vibrance and the colours were vivid and easy on the eyes. The use of watercolour in the show by the main character also brings out a very nice animation feel to the show. One of the best artworks in anime.
The sound was so-so. What really stood out were the voice actors. Especially the four main characters. They played the characters so well and i think it really contributed to the feel of the anime. Inserts were made towards the end which helped to create the atmosphere and i think the OP song was very suited for this anime. It's good but not the best.
The characters were also very well done. Each having a good deal of depth for such a short anime series. Espcially since there were quite a few main characters, to cover such a wide range of characters in such a short span is quite good. Perhaps a bit more focus on the side characters like the two best friends of the lead girl and guy would have been good, but considering the time span i guess it's still ok. The characters were also not your usual cliche characters in a romance anime, especially Noe, to have such a character in the show makes it more unique and unpredictable.
I enjoyed the anime for its romance and drama. But it was lacking in the comedy area. But i guess it's ok since the drama was brought out pretty well as a result. Thus the story may appear a bit gloomy. It was also a bit slow at the start but the pace picks up as the story goes, so for those who are impatient you might have trouble with this anime at the start. However, i think the anime was very meaningful because you can sympathize with the characters and is thus very attention grabbing at times.
Overall, This anime is not to be missed. Especially if you are a romance-drama fan. The anime managed to portray many key elements in the show within the short time span and i think that the anime will leave a lasting impression on all who watch it. However, patience may be needed in the course of undertsanding the story and the characters. If you are looking for something more light-hearted then perhaps you may not find this to you liking.

D. Grayman is about a a boy named allen walker who is cursed with the ability to see akuma or demons. He joins the Black order to fight these Akuma with the use of special weapons known as innocence. The story focuses on the lives of the individuals in the order and their encounters.
The story of this anime is amazing. It's one of the best i've seen(possibly the best). It has a very unique feel to it for a shounen anime and inculcates a lot of drama which makes the anime so gripping. For a shounen anime it has a good mix of comedy, drama, action and adventure, not
...
so much romance but this combo has worked wonders for this anime. The story is not cliche at all and can be a bit dark at times but it helps to contribute to the realism in it. So if you think this is your typical shounen anime where the bad guys losing an everybody goes home happy, guess again. The anime is filled with twists and turns at every point and gets better and better as the story progresses.
The art was fantastic. Details are drawn out well and the dark setting creates an excellent atmosphere. The vivd colours help to bring out focal points in the story. all the characters are drawn so well and the chibi versions now and then add to the comedy.
The sound was not the best part of the anime. Though the opening and closing songs were great and really suited the anime. The background music here and there did help to bring out the atmosphere but i think more could have been done in this area.Nonetheless, a commendable effort in this area.
The characters are the best part of the show. The character development in the show is astounding, best i've seen. All the characters have good depth reagardless of how little showtime they get, the producers ensured that each character had ample elaboration on.The flashbacks help to create depth in the haracters and show us the reasons for their determination or lack there of. It is a very realistic anime and touches on a lot of human emotions and institutions such as friendship, duty, family and so on. The characters portray these themes very well. Plus the weapons they get are freaking cool!
What else can i say, besides that the anime was the bomb! The comedy was not too lame and the fighting was awesome. The drama was gripping and leaves you wanting for more. I think another good thing about this show is that you get to empathise some of the characters, with so many different personalities in the various characters you are bound to be one of them.
Overall, out of all my favourites so far, this one would be at the top. The storyline, characters, animation and sound interwoven create a master piece that is not to be missed. If you think all shounens are easygoing , try this one out...it'll definitely show you a different story to other shounen. My praises would go on and on but alas i should stop. This anime is a must see. If you are interested in knowing what is going on after the anime you can always read the manga..it's a good read as well. I hope another season wil continue from where they left off cause the manga is way ahaead of the anime.
