Let me start of with saying that if you are searching for a mystery/horror anime this is one that you must watch. It has a, good(ish) story, a simply marvelous way of using the sounds, characters with actual personality, all in all it's a good anime.
Story:
Well this one starts well, sadly as we get deeper into the story it gets more and more weak. Now let me explain why:
When Sakakibara transfers in the class no one would explain to him anything, though with explaining what he should/shouldn't do, no one (probably) would've died.
As we reach the final arc of the story
...
there are simply 2 questions that you will ask yourself: HOW/WHY? I mean, it feels like the author/scrip writer(whatever/I didn't read the manga to know) is simply bullshitting me towards the end. The glass eye part is simply pulled out of his/her ass.
/SPOILER (DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IN YET)
A big room in the mansion is on fire and even when people are near it no one can smell the smoke, REALLY? When one of them opens the door (let's say it's completely sealed off) there is a huge explosion, I understand that when the fire gets O it burns better but that was one big explosion. I'm not a fire specialist so hey, I may be wrong.
The way Akazawa died is simply pathetic (surprise surprise this is a horror anime did you expect people to survive?) And if Akazawa died in a really idiotic way (while the other people around her survived with only a few scratches) let's not talk about Takako's death, she had a knife (or whatever that was) in the hand and she died stangulated by some cables. I really started to ask myself if the writers were high during the time they wrote this.
/END SPOILER
Story: 7/10
Art: nothing against it, it was good, not as great as other animes had but it was good.
Art: 9/10
Sound:
I usually give 9/10 to almost every anime for the sound category, BUT if there really is an anime that deserves 10 for the sound part, well this one is. The op/ed weren't great at all, but the way they used the music/sound effects in the anime itself was really great.
Sound: 10/10
Characters:
About the main male character all I have to say is that at least he is not the pussy/shounen we get in every second anime. He acts close to what you can call normal, this is a huge + for the anime in my opinion.
The main female character: she is completely retarded, stupid, or she is a complete bitch.
If only she opened her mouth before Sakakibara arrived most of the deaths or even all of them could've been avoided. (watch the last arc so you can understand).
I won't say much about the supporting characters since most of them had nothing/close to nothing to do with the main plot. I must say that though they acted incredibly stupid at the begging, none of them were boring.
Enjoyment:
While I was mostly asking myself How/Why? This was actually an enjoyable horror anime.
At least it wasn't so repetitive like other well known series.
Enjoyment: 8/10
Overall:
Even if they didn't explain a few things this was an interesting mystery/horror anime. The story was kinda weak especially towards the end, the characters were good and of course great use of sound. If you are looking for a mystery/horror anime and can get past that they beat around the bush a lot towards the end and that they omitted the explanation of one of the most important parts of the anime well this is an anime for you.
Overall: 8/10

Mirai Nikki a thriller/action/supernatural/psychological anime. I must say that it was a pain to wait a damn week for the final episode. Good story, good characters, what else can you ask for? It has pretty much everything, even though I'm not a fan I feel that I must say that you will find: some yaoi, yuri and rape scenes in this anime.
Story: Fairly good but not the best, the story doesn't get boring, it always gets twisted in some way just to keep you right there, in front of the monitor/tv.
If you don't get absorbed in by the main female character (which is
...
quite easy) it's kind of impossible to not notice the plot holes! Quite a few plot holes... which I hate. I do believe that towards the end they twisted everything just a little too much, too much supernatural shit going on, and a few wtf moments too.
Story: 8/10
Art: Fairly good action scenes, seen better. Character design could've been better, I understand that it's also shounen but Murmur and 8th... that character design just doesn't fit in the anime at all. Yuuki wearing a jacket+winter boots+cap but with mother fukin shorts, wtf?
That big ribbon on Yunno's uniform, meh I guess that I'm simply not a sucker for those things.
Art: 7/10
Sound: well this is always awkward to rate, nothing special, I guess that it's ok. Op/Ed could've been better.
Sound: 9/10
Characters: I won't talk much about the main male character, just the typical (bullshit) shounen anime male character you can call him pussy/pansy/whatever fits him I guess.
The main female character on the other hand: AMAZING! I never thought that I will ever see such an incredibly mentally disturbed character as a MAIN character.
After the first few episodes I must admit she was the one thing that actually made me watch more of this anime. Just imagine the anime without Yuuno, it would be blunt and it would have nothing special. You could call her the only MAIN character since she is the one that keeps the plot going somewhere!
But let's not only talk only about Yuuno, almost every character in this anime has an interesting personality, and of course an interesting back story (except Deus/Murmur/The mayor/and a few more). The interactions between them, the choices they must make because of the shit that's going on. They simply feel like real characters, which is rare nowadays.
Characters: 9/10 because of that pansy.
Enjoyment: I must say that I really did enjoy this anime, it was wicked, it kept me wanting more more more and more! I really can't wait for that "new project"!
Enjoyment: 10/10
Overall: I really loved the anime, even if it had many wtf moments, all in all Yuuno simply made up for everything. And let's not forget about Murmur sensei's backstage future diary: I see it as a bonus, it wasn't anything special but it really made me laugh at times.
Overall: 9/10

This was one of those animes that I really did hope to be good. Sadly it simply proved that you can't judge an "anime" by it's cover.
-Story-
It's mostly bs. It starts with young Ouma Shuu joining some "terrorist" group. Afterwards almost every episode of the first part, is made out of spectacular effects/art, explosions, betrayals aaaand a lot of crying and self-pity.
The first 12-ish episodes could've been reduced to max 5 if it wasn't for all those explosions, shouting, running and crying. The first part of the story felt more like a filler than an actual part of the story. At times it
...
does seem that the story advances too fast but that is only because they SKIP some parts, frankly most of the first part is made of the main character Shuu crying (I did say this before but it annoyed the shit out of me).
The second part starts with a more determined male character, someone that does what needs to be done for the best of the majority. While it seems that they worked just a bit more on the story part of the second half, it does have way more "fuck logic" moments.
It's just a pity that I can't spoil the ending but the last episode simply blew my mind, in a bad way.
While others did say this too but the story is full of cliche's, maybe they tried too hard, that's why they fucked up the story so bad.
-Art-
10/10 nothing to say here (judge by it's cover, right?)
-Sound-
Sound effects 10/10 but that's normal I guess...
They did try a lot, nothing to say, even the main female character has an original song of her own.
While I really like most of supercell's / ryo's music I didn't like any of the songs in this anime, but hey maybe it's just me.
That makes an 8 for sounds for me in the end.
-Characters-
At least we have some development on Shuu's side.
The problem with the characters in that most of them are simply without any personality. Seriously, it's like all of them are simple "vessels".
Shuu is an annoying piece of crap in the first part, the good part is that Shuu does develop a little bit, well at least he doesn't cry that much towards the ending.
Inori... she is simply nothing, I mean she is beautiful in the anime but that's kind of everything that you can say about her. For the most part all that I can remember about her, is her saying "Shuu" and that's it.
Characters 3/10
-Enjoyment-
In the first part I felt many times that I should get up from my bed and skip those really annoying crying/self-pity/ full of effects but nothing else parts, but meh I'm too lazy for that so I had to watch it all. You can imagine how much I did enjoy this anime, right?
3/10
-Overall-
Maybe I simply expected a lot more out of this than I should have. All in all I do believe that this failed because they did try a lot. We all know that sometimes when we try too hard we simply fail.
Overall I gave this a 6 mostly because of the really "wtf" moments towards the end, otherwise it would've been a 6.5 (which means 7 to me).

I guess that you want to watch some mystery/detective anime, cool.
reading this review means that you want to watch GOSICK.
WELL DON'T!
on MAL this anime scores 8.29 at this moment, seriously WTF people?!
now let's start my first review on MAL, this review is a hate review because I watched this piece of **** just because it got such high scores.
first let's talk about the STORY 2/10: the story is set somewhere in the mid 1920s, and it's about... solving some mysteries that involve ghosts/paranormal shit at first sight. the first 3 episodes where actually quite promising. after that the anime went donwhill at the speed of
...
light.
at the end of 90% of the mysteries the main girl solves everything by pulling the answers out of her ass (pipe)! no, seriously 80% of everything she says makes absolutely no sense! you have no idea from where did she get to that conclusion. I can't really say anything more about the story without spoiling something so let's get to the
ART 8/10: gosick had some really fine art, actually this is one of the rare elements that I liked in gosick! yay
SOUND 3/10: I'm sorry did anyone notice anything good about this category? I didn't.
CHARACTERS/RELATIONSHIPS 2/10: now this is the most important part in an anime (for me at least), I've rarely seen such a horrible cast of characters.
VICTORIQUE: no, her name is Victorica, but the japanese people pronounce Victorique-Victorica apparently. I know of their engrish habit but imo they could at least learn the f-ing name of the main character. Victorique isn't pronounced Victorica nor in french nor in german ffs. (nor in any other language that I know btw)
She is a sweet(not) girl that spends most of her time reading in the botanical garden situated at the top floor of the library tower. Right here we got such an original plot : blonde girl imprisoned at the top level of a tower, waiting for her prince.
Now she is the worst loli tsundere I've ever seen, I just hate everything related to this character! As mentioned before she solves most of the mysteries without using her brain, she apparently has some wellspring of wisdom or whatever inside of her. aka => you won't see any mystery being solved in a logical way (except the first one and some not important side mysteries) most of the times she will appear at the end of the episode saying that she has every piece of the CHAOS and she can put everything together to solve the mystery.
KUJO: ahh the male protagonist, you expect something good at least in the male protagonist. Well I'm sorry I'll destroy your illusions! He is just your typical male character that you'll find in every second anime that you'll watch. He apparently loves SM, why am I saying this? because he just loves to get his ass kicked by Victorica (YES she is called Victorica by the other characters in the anime so I'll call her the same way!). I'm serious, he gets all mad at Victorica at least once/episode because SHE IS a bitch, give him 2-3 minutes and he'll run back to her treating her to some sweets.
now their RELATIONSHIP: again WTF? in ep 4 or 5 I can't remember exactly they are at some "fortune teller" and both of them ask him: how long will they be together?
whoah whoah whoah, WHAT?! trust me, in the beginning (aprox 10 episodes) they hardly know anything about each other the development in their relationship advances too fast.
"Ohh cool, so we have some romance?" who are you kidding? there is absolutely NO romance in this anime. The romance is just somewhat suggested.
I tried as much as I could not to spoil anything in this section while still highlighting the most important parts imo.
One of the rare parts that I liked in Gosick is actually the story of Victorica's mother! yes, an anime based on her mother would have been a lot better imo.
So all in all this anime is probably the most overrated show that there is on MAL atm imo.
If you want to watch a good mystery anime turn around and search some more! this is just a waste of time.
I could argument my points a lot better but sadly I would spoil a lot of things by doing so.
All in all this is the worst mystery/romance anime that I've seen in my life up to this point.
