I don't know why even i rewatch this series.I still ask to my self "How can this be 8 point or more anime " yeah for me it's overrated.I agree about the quality of production but writing really bad in this arc.
1.Dark and realistic: The begining of failure is here and I don't understand why someone always say that this show is dark and realistic.But for me it's suck. U know it really bad for waste my time in many non intense episode.
Honesly maybe u should put ep 11 and 12 instead ep 3 to make this more intense and triller. It will

maintain a great character development which it's lack.Ok i will explain u wat i see 1.1 Convenient At first part of series reg just kill monster in one hit that so boring like some isekai anime and later someone just dodge them yeah!!! so challenge.How can i called it challenge of Good anime? they are lack of good tactic and it really easy to write if u know Monster hunter or terraria Ex. use some poisonous plant and analysis its weakness and most time they survive cause of stupid convinient.
1.2.Most of dark anime should have fist climax in ep 1/2/3 like madoka cause the long time u keep it the more u reduce its value. meanwhile this series full of exposition dump like" Abyss is terrify it have this have that and then open the map.spooky!!!!" they do this more than once in first part or even more with flashback of other expoler.Well what it really be is our protagonist pass it really easy in 1-4 layer.A monster just jump in front of them like pokemon after in ep 4-6. and u know most of great anime don't do this cause if u can't do more than what u just said.It will be boring and predictable. What about a cliche last climax of this arc? just like what i said it will be better if they are first climax it would be really good entance .
2. Phasing: A little bit chaotic 1-4 slow boring cause it lack first climax and full of exposition dump. 5-6 or 7 fast i don't know why maybe cause it have nothing. 8-12 maybe ok.
3.Character: They are nothing riko normal girl without powerful development
she say that she love abyss but series can't show how passionate she is and how can she use it to fight against abyss.Too bad she just a sandbag victim or a cheap plot device to make watcher like us triller. Just see this girl suffer, and neglet her development and her passionate identity what a waste.Just innocent and anoying rabbit whom just a prey.Reg her robot friend also bad like i just said nothing to talk about him and wish that he won't be asspull char.
4.Idea arranging the woste thing of this series most ideas are good but without great progession and conclusion Ex. sometime it try to show char.development but immidate change to present stupid trilling scene. That amazing how can it destroy 2 idea in the same time .
Conclusion: If u just read my profile u will konw the word "being too many idea but can't arrange it" yeah i hate it. To compare this kind of anime to a mediocre one just like i answer the question "If u are millonare u want to prepare an aquarium in a living room in one week before your guest come
u can should 1 kind of fish between a epic shark without a spine or a little plain blue guppy fish" really hard choice right? but for me i hate something that just epic neglet some important "basic" thing just like a shark without greatful act and maybe die patheticly in front of me before i can show someone "I can't recommed someone if i don't even like it" its appearance just a fake value just like a shark's fin soup that its nutrition is equal to just one egg. So would prefer little fish like mahousukai no yome and mushokutensei instead.
