Blue Exorcist is your normal anime. A story line that meets your expectations, good characters and enjoyment. It's like enjoying a warm breeze with fluttering eyelashes. However, there's a catch...
Story (7/10)
It's a pleasant story that involves originality when it comes down to it. However, while I sat through episodes, my eyes seems to wander elsewhere. My focus is not struck onto my laptop screen, but is observing the blank walls and other thoughts drifting through my mind - all while I'm watching the episode. This is not necessarily a horrible coincidence, I usually act like this when it comes down
...
to watching new animes.
However, if my attention keeps prolonging - now that's a problem. It's not particularly the actual "plot" but the way they performed it. As I stated before: It's similar to enjoying a breeze warming up your face...
But that quickly becomes boring, doesn't it?
Art (7/10)
In my opinion, the art is good. Not something that people should fawn over, but not something that deserves a sign of revolt.
Sound (7/10)
The voice acting is very well done. I suspect that every animes voice acting is splendid. I never crossed one that made me cringe. The OST for Blue Exorcist has a very powerful and epic tone, but it also has a tranquil atmosphere, depending on the scene.
Characters (7/10)
Your typical goofy and impulsive main, male protagonist. A man who would risk his life for his friends and family. There isn't much to say, except that I didn't get very attached towards the characters. From my perspective, I didn't find them that unique. However, Shiemi had a little touch towards her character, which I found very interesting.
Enjoyment (6/10)
Blue Exorcist was a nice experience, but I quickly dropped it once my attention diverted from it completely. I actually dropped it when it hit the climax, and it's safe to say I didn't really regret my decision. However, I would totally recommend this to you if you prefer something gentle, but still realistic and ferocious when it grows more into the episodes.
Overall (6/10)
If you want a deeper connection with a story, then this might not suit you well. There is still a connection, but instead of it hitting five bars, it somehow hits a low three. (WiFi reference. TeeHee.) However, that doesn't mean that you can bring it back up. This may not be for everyone (especially not me) but give it a try! You may be surprised by the outcome.

Story (10/10)
Yes, I know. You're going to start seething in fury. You're going to start rampaging throughout the streets because you think that I'm overrating this anime in every shape and form. Now, this is the part where I completely and utterly disagree with you. This is where I allow you to understand my outlook on this anime and share my opinions.
Yes, this story deals with terrorism. However, it is completely on a different scale. The depth of their reason allows our mind to go beyond the boundary. It is almost similar to Tokyo Ghoul. There are two sides,
...
but each side has no "good" or "evil." They follow their own path and choose what they seem is right. You could also say that the terrorists are the "ghouls" and the police are well... the police.
Furthermore, the way the clues follow through the story is completely outstanding. They even add hints of other interesting facts. They mentioned the story of "Oedipus." A little twist of riddles that make you sit through and think. Completely mind-boggling.
Art (9/10)
Ahh, what can I say about the art? It's original and unique. The characters are so exquisitely drawn. It's like an eloquent brush of black ink that traces alongside the shades and corners of their skin. It's realistic but imaginative. It's marvelous.
Sound 10/10
Very dramatic scenes when it comes down to the voice acting and sounds. The suspenseful music makes you question about the next outcome. That little mint in the corner? Yeah, that's a bomb in disguise. The voice acting is beautifully done.
Characters (10/10)
They are distinct and have individuality. They have their past and secrets, and there's these questions that keep bubbling up inside of you whenever you look at their faces. Remarkable. Absolutely remarkable. Nine and Twelve are complete opposite, but are the complete same. They cannot live without each other. Their puzzles that are side by side, but are not allowed to entwine.
Enjoyment (9/10)
At first, it was steady. I kept stalling and multi-tasked throughout the first few moments of the episode. However, when I finally got right down to it - I never regretted the decision. It was a stunning experience. The way the whole idea was formed and created. The way they made the viewers actually VIEW the story - and to make it even better, you get to see both sides. I enjoyed it very much.
Overall (9/10)
This anime may not be for anyone. The ending did make me shed a bit of tears - but I knew it was coming (I kind of spoiled myself. Whoops.) If you have a weak heart, just keep reminding yourself that the story isn't real. However, I enjoyed every ounce of it. Lisa is such an adorable woman. Her heart is set at the right place, and she never fades into darkness.
To conclude, this anime is not a very "fictional" anime. Its originality and realistic aspects is the thing that drew me in, and made me hooked. Therefore; if you aren't that type that sits down and enjoy psychological situations, and prefer a much more idealistic tone, you may want to lay this one down. However, if you do try it, you won't be disappointed!

Story 10/10
D.Gray-Man is the simple definition of the word "unique." Incredible. The story and plot was absolutely fantastic. Each scene rolls into each other. Absorbing the consequences and leaving the viewer in awe. The characters' actions are so crucial, that even one mess up, will lead the whole story into a completely alternative route. Beautifully made.
Art 7/10
In this generation, this art is mostly ignored. With the new animes out there, D.Gray-Man might be overlooked. However, don't let that fool you - even if the art isn't necessarily prodigious, it is unique in its own way. It's well enough to create
...
enough tension when it comes down to battles and whatnot.
Sound (8/10)
Amazing voice actors and splendid build-up when it comes down to it. The sound is good enough to suit the atmosphere.
Characters (10/10)
Absolutely jaw-dropping character-development. They each have their own attributes. They have their quirks, and along the way, you get to view their backstories. You become to understand their emotions and why they are this way. The characters are very original.
Enjoyment (10/10)
What else is there to say? I mostly covered everything. This anime made me sit on my bed for hours and completely watch all the episodes without getting up.
Overall (9/10)
To conclude, you should definitely watch this anime. I have to agree, it is VERY sluggish in the beginning. The plot is taking leisurely steps, but it will soon sky-rocket into a mass void of drama and emotions. It will leave you breathless near the end. And after a few months or even weeks, you will look back and feel nostalgia in your every core just because this anime is outstanding.
