Tokyo Ghoul is a very hard title for me to rate. At some moments I was just dying to see what would come next, while a certain story arc in particular just felt silly and uneeded. I would say it's strong suit is it's phenomonal animation and choreography which was paced well with fitting sound effects and music. However, the story's plot could be very convoluted at times, and although it has some admirable characters, the main character himself, Ken Kaneki, fell short of my expectations.
As for the story, the overall concept seems to be innovative, however it doesn't seem to know what it wants
...
to be. At first, it seemed to be centered all arounf Kaneki, and him learning how to deal with his recent predicament of becoming a ghoul. They showed Kaneki's psychological melt down wonderfully, and it seemed to be about Kaneki struggling to figure out how to become a ghoul. The psychological story about Kaneki's internal battles and his decisions to either somehow overcome his insatiable hunger for human flesh, or succumb to his carnal desires.
However, this character has little to no character development whatsoever. He is taken in and babied by the workers at Anteiku, and everything he knows is taught to him, not having to figure out things out by himself. Even when he is told what he has to do in order to save the ones he cares about, he still comes off as a p*ssy. Although I did not like Kaneki, I did however love Touka's character. She was rational, yet hot headed, and wasn't afraid to be blunt. Also, I admired how they went over Nishio's back story, and why he is the way he is, although I wished they elaborated just a bit more on it.
Everyone who has seen Tokyo Ghoul knows it mainly for its phenomanal opening. I actually didn't like the opening song that much, and found it to be quite average. However, I came to love it, along with it's abstract imagery. The opening song, Unravel, also plays during the finally which brings back a feeling of nostaligia and really ties it all together. Not only was the opening great, the background music and voice actors (Japanese) fit the scene and the characters.
Speaking of music and sound effects, they blend perfectly with the different atmospheres and fight scenes. The uncensored fight choreography was great, although it tended to go overboard and turn into a pointless gorefest. However, I found it to be tasteful at most times, and since it has such dark themes, explicit violence is to be expected. I absolutely adored the character designs of this anime. Each was unique, and tended to reflect on their personality. Although some may think they go over the top with these designs, I find them to fit in with the world they are placed in.
My overall enjoyment of the series is a fairly high rank. Although it had it's flaws and downfalls, I still find it to be a good commentary on topics like discrimination and humanity, especially in the last couple of episodes. It constantly questions you who the true villians are, ghouls or humans?

For any fans of Tales from the Crypt, this is most definitely the anime for you. Each episode follows a different character who has visited the pet shop. This 4 episode OVA is filled with creepy and spooky tales, and at the end of the episode, you may just learn a lesson or moral from each story.
Story
Pet Shop of Horrors is about a strange gothic young man named Count D who manages a pet shop. However, this is no average pet shop. At this pet shop you can find a wide variety of 'rare' and 'exotic' animals. All you need to do is sign a
...
contract with this man, and it's yours. However, you may find these rules hard to abide with, and end up with a disaster in which even death may occur.
I'm a big fan of episodic series, so this anime was definitely a hit for me. Each story was creepy and interesting, and the animal the characters ordered corresponded with the owners inner demons and troubles. What really got me interested was that at the end of each episode, a very interesting moral was taught. That was probably my favorite aspect of the show, besides the spooky ominous feel to it.
I also found the concept of this series very unique. The idea of a creepy 'animal' from a pet shop to move a long an entire story really intrigued me. I love animals, and like to learn about mystical creatures, so when I saw the title, I was automatically drawn in. This series definitely did not disappoint. Even with my high expectations, Pet Shop of Horrors exceeded them with its eerie tales of the characters dark pasts and their new pet which may in the end teach them a lesson.
Animation
Pet Shop of Horrors was released in 1999, so the animation is quite dated. I went into the story with low expectations of the art, but I was actually surprised. Yes, the animation was definitely not the best, but it was fitting, and was actually very well done for its time. It was also very unique in a way as well. There was no set style or pattern I could find. For example Count D and the detective Leon, have a totally different style. With the Count, his features were very pointed while Leon's were much more realistic and better shaded. This goes for not only these two, but for many other characters as well.
The character designs were pretty interesting as well, especially the Count. His tall, yet feminine figure added to his mysterious personality, along with his painted long nails, dark lips always in a small smile, and his hetereochromic eyes narrowed at you. The creature designs were interesting and haunting as well. This anime would have been a flop without the creepy and spooky animation.
Sound
There's not to much music in this anime, but nothing felt out of place or unfitting. When there was music, it only added to the dark atmosphere. No music needed to be added or deleted, and it felt as if everything was in order.
As for voice acting, it was very well done. I personally watched the dub, and each voice matched the character perfectly. I especially liked the Count's voice actor, as he sounded very calm and collected even while delivering disturbing lines, which built up the Count's character even more, and added to his eerie aura. Considering the importance and amount of dialogue the Count has, it was very important to have an excellent voice actor, which is another thing Pet Shop of Horrors did very well
Characters
Since Pet Shop of Horrors is episodic, there is a large variety of characters, but does not feel overcrowded since each set is different in each episode. The only characters which remained throughout was Count D, the tall dark mysterious pet shop owner, and Leon Orcot, the hot headed detective suspects the Count for the recent string of murders, and is determined to expose Count D for his crimes.Leon acts as an extra viewpoint, and as a piece to help dig up the other characters backgrounds.
As for the customers and main characters of an episode, they all seem to have a dark past or secret which indirectly causes them to end up at the Count's shop to fulfill their desires through their new pet. As each episode progresses we learn more and more about each character, and finally discover who they really are. At the end of each episode, these characters' backstories and mistakes serve as a lesson or moral to the story.
Overall
Overall, Pet Shop of Horrors gets a solid 9 out of 10. This short series was a psychological horror masterpiece, and deserves to be appraised for its thought provoking spooky stories. This show is definitely one of my favorites and is a must watch for any psychological or horror fan.

Ichigo Sakura is a egotistical girl who seems to have it all; beauty, wealth, intellegence, and athleticism. However this imbalance causes those around her to suffer. It's up to Momiji, a poverty god, to put things back into order by sucking Ichigo's happiness energy out of her. Despite her determination, Ichigo won't give up so easily. Now Ichigo has to put up with Momiji's crazy antics and bad luck devices, along with her supernatural lunatic friends.
Good Luck Girl is hilarious supernatural comedy with a bunch of parody jokes thrown in. These parodies include series such as Rosario Vampire, Dragon Ball, One Piece, and many more!
...
The anime doesn't take itself seriously, which is a good thing. It even often makes fun of itself and even anime in general. The story wasn't too serious, but there was still a plot to follow which made room for many jokes to be thrown in. This is definitely the series for you if you already have watched a good share of anime, so you can get most of the jokes and humor thrown into it.
The animation was very eye catching and alluring. Of course it wasn't the best animation I've seen, but it still deserves some props. The character designs were very interesting, especially Momiji's, and it reeally encompases what a poverty god would look like. Also, the art and animation in the opening were fantasticc, and had a pop art feel to it, which really drew me in. The animation was very fluent and neat throughout.
First of all, I would reccomend the dub for this series. I feel like there is much more to get out of it while watching the dub. The english voice actors were amazing, as to be expected by actors such as Todd Haberkorn (Momou Inugami) and Brina Palencia (Ichigo Sakura). They seemed to act very natural as if they were experiencing the situations themselves, especially the conversations between Ichigo and Momiji. The whole cast did an amazing job, and the voices matched the characters perfectly.
The sound track for this anime was absolutely spectacular in my opinion, especially the opening song, 'Make My Day' by Pico. It was very fitting, and the opening animation matched the song spectacularly. It was very upbeat and fun, just like the series was.
Each character showed significance and development in this story. Ichigo especially, as she shows a well amount of character development throughout the series. They gave an interesting approach to her character. I expected her to be absolutely despicable and a total brat wwho bullied otthers. However being a dislikeable character, she was different than expected. She actually had no friends or group, and she never really bulied anyone, in fact, she was the one who was being bullied. It was a very unique approach and they really pulled it off.
The other characters in this series were also very interesting and were extremely likeable. Characters like Momiji, Bobby, and Momou, made me laugh out loud several times such as the time were Bobby and Momou sang a song about boobs, or when Momiji cosplays characters from other anime. These characters were extremely loveable and most definitely fun to watch.
Overall, Good Luck Girl gets a 9 out of 10 for personal enjoyment, laugh out loud moments, and cast of characters that were quite loveable. This show was definitely a feel good show, and definitely a show to watch if you feel a bit down or upset. Even just the opening could cheer you up! Or at least 'Make Your Day'. Haha, get it? Anyways, this show is perfect for those who have watched a good amount of anime, and enjoy some laid back humor and a happy tone.

Mameshiba, literally translating to "bean dog" in English, is a very fitting title for this bizarre and wacky anime. It's humorous, entertaining, and even educational to a certain degree with each episode consisting of an odd, gross, or disturbing fact which as a result, disgusts or annoys the person about to eat the mameshiba.
The story of Mameshiba is pretty simple, considering it's episodic with each episode only lasting about a minute. Nevertheless, each episode is different in it's own way and doesn't get boring because of the change of characters, including the people about to eat the mameshiba, and the mameshiba themselves. Each person
...
has a similar yet different reaction to seeing a piece of food talk to them; however it usually ends up in a reaction of disgust. As for the somewhat morbid "did you know?" facts these talking assortments of beans say, a lot of them were quite interesting, and I learned 20 new weird facts I didn't know before and can now gross my friends out with.
As for the art style goes, it's extremely unique to say the least. Each anthropomorphic bean-like food is different in it's own way, with each one being different each episode. For example, in one episode it could be a black bean, and the other it could be a peanut or jellybean. These adorable yet somewhat terrifying little "bean dogs" are unforgettable. The animation for the humans wasn't as appealing, but it didn't matter too much since they were not the main focus.
The sound was pretty decent, however it was hard to find a good quality version of this series since it's not very popular. That and it's hard to expect much of the music since each episode is so short.
I liked how all of the characters were different in each episode. Although the mameshiba were the main focus character-wise, the human characters could also be interesting at times. For example in some episodes, they'll show people in different countries, speaking different languages, and eating different foods relating to their culture. This was very creative in my opinion and helped keep the show interesting.
Overall, this show is pretty enjoyable; especially if it's 2 A.M. in the morning and you're bored with 20 minutes to spare. It can be really amusing at times, and there's even a few funny memorable quotes from the characters; besides all of the crazy fun facts. I definitely recommend this for some one who's bored or has some free time on their hands. However, this show may not be for everyone, considering how odd it can be. Some may find it pointless or a waste of time, but I personally love all the weird and creative shows Japan has to offer.

It's easy to be drawn into this anime by just looking at the artwork and style. Characters with multicolored eyes, stylish colorful hair, and original outfits. The animation is pretty, to sum it up, and is very appealing, and its easy to get drawn into. For the story, it was a good idea, but it was way to complex for an anime series only 13 episodes long. Even reading some of the synopsis it has, it seems pretty confusing. They tried to fit a complex story line for multiple different characters, and it just confused the crap out of me.The story was poorly told. I
...
still enjoyed it though, mostly because how visually appealing it was. The characters were a bit annoying at times, but they weren't boring and developed well throughout the running time. Overall, it was enjoyable, but nothing great.

Diabolik Lovers is a very controversial anime, and most people either love it or hate it. I personally loved it, although this would be better as a hentai. The storyline was really bad, and it didn't really make sense and clashed with the other events in the story. This anime is primarily for girls, especially masochistic girls with fetishes for sadistic, vampiristic, fashionable bishounens. I have to admit, the blood sucking scenes were extremely sexy. The artwork was amazing, and each character had their one fashion and theme. One thing they did do well on regarding the plot is that it wasn't a cliche romance
...
story. None of the characters really fall in love with her all of the sudden. The brothers stay sadistic until the end, even though there is still some character development. The opening and music was done well too. Overall, the anime was really good, not for the plot, but for the artwork and sexy scenes.
