So... this movie happened. And, as I had anticipated, I did not enjoy it. It's unfortunate because I love the Godzilla franchise, honestly. Even the goofy movies where he's doing wrestling moves.
Story: 3/10
So, the story is that a bunch of Kaiju popped up on Earth one day, forcing humanity to go into space to seek another planet. Eventually, the last of humanity decides to just return to Earth, believing that Godzilla and Co. would probably be dead by now (like a few thousand Earth years had passed by the time they decided to go back. All in all, it's not a very good story (which
...
doesn't really affect the final score because Godzilla movie plots are deep as a kiddy pool, usually). It's little more than a vessel to move the plot and to allow for some Kaiju action.
Art: 1/10
This movie looks TERRIBLE! Outside of a select few "passable" looking Godzilla scenes, it looks like an unreleased PlayStation2 game cinematic. The decision to make the entire thing CG was very poor. I don't expect it to look like something out of MadHouse, but good lord is it hard on the eyes. The sad thing is, the movie could have been redeemed if the art was halfway decent. I've seen better stuff animated in MMD.
Sound: 5/10
The sound is actually alright. I watched the dubbed version and it was above what you generally get. The music was also decent. Really gave off that godly vibe when the choir kicked in during the Godzilla scenes. Outside of Godzilla's atomic breath making a dubstep BWAAA noise, there isn't much to complain about when it comes to audio.
Characters: 4/10
The characters were fine, and you understood their motivations well enough. It's a shame the artstyle was so godawful I had genuine difficulty differentiating between them, at times. Otherwise, not a terrible cast of characters (just don't go in expecting them to be memorable).
My overall enjoyment: 3/10
At the end of the day, even if this is technically apart of a series I love, I can't look past the flaws. Even if everything is hovering around mediocrity, the animation just drags the whole thing down. In a visual medium like animation, a lot of the enjoyment comes out of the art, which is just awful here. Seriously, get a better studio to produce one of these next time. Not recommended.

I basically read through the entire thing in one sitting and man, was it a ride.
Story: 7
The story was surprisingly good and felt very well constructed. I really liked the episodic style of it. It gave off a Tales from the Crypt type vibe (this gaijin loves him some crypt keeper) while staying interconnected. The pacing was also great and made each chapter feeling brief but still feeling like its own little thing. The pacing was absolutely ideal for the story, constantly ramping up the tension until the climactic page turn reveal(that moment in the comic where a character's face is focused on, the next
...
page being what they were reacting to, for the uninitiated). Of course a big flaw with the story was that sometimes it got campy. Like, super campy. Otherwise, really well done.
Art: 10
The art in this series is on a whole other level. The art style may be a bit dry but there's also something aesthetically "off" you could say about each frame. like everyone just looks kinda weird in an unnerving way rather than a distracting way. It's these dark nuances that never reduce Uzumaki to a visual bore. Also, elaborating on the page turn reveal. The sheer amount of detail put into these panels is astonishing, Ito's medical training also really contributing to the vivid nature of the visuals. Phenomenal stuff here.
Characters: 6/10
Can you really do much with characters in an episodic format? Of course the lack of any real depth to them is natural and wasn't too much of a bother. We know just enough about the major cast to care about them enough to stay invested. Nothin' much here.
Enjoyment: 10
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I wasn't at all bored when reading and the visuals were awe-inspiring at points. It satiated my hunger as a fan of the genre well.
Overall: 9
Overall I'd recommend this to any horror fan or jkust someone looking for a good (albeit nightmarish) time.

This is the magnum opus of Yugioh clones. A true testament to how far we have come as a species. If there was one thing I could salvage as the sun becomes a red supergiant and consumes the earth, it'd be a box set of Bakugan: Battle Brawlers.
The story is about a young man named Dan maturing with his plastic magnet dragon toy thing and his friends. It truly feels like a satisfying adventure with a phenomenal ending.
The characters are not mere generic shounen tropes, they have transcended reality itself and end up feeling so real and fleshed out that you could reach in and
...
caress Dragonoid's scaly nipples.
The animation came straight out of a Van Gogh painting, truly capturing the emotional weight of each scenario. True greatness.
The soundtrack must have been stolen from the archive of unused compositions from Ludwig van Beethoven. Truly a masterful collection of pieces.
Overall this show is one of the true gems of the modern era, I urge everyone to watch this show so they can become redpilled like I have.

This show is the reason I didn't want to get into anime.
The story, if there is one, is The Walking Dead with more jiggling boobs and less scenes about middle aged women whining over their lost vibrators. I couldn't handle more than a few eps of this drivel so that's the impression I got.
What characters?
The animation is fine when there aren't large mammary glands being thrown in your face constantly.
The sound is also pretty standard, these are the only highlights of the show.
I recommend this to 13 year old horndogs as that's the only audience that could slog through this. Otherwise, watch the abridged series,
...
it makes the show much more watchable.

Let me just open this by saying I've been a huge fan of DBZ for the better part of a decade. I realize the show has flaws and is only so loved because of the nostalgia boner it'll give to people and the fact that it's the first anime people have watched, it still holds a place in my heart. Anyways, rant over. Here are my thoughts on the movie.
The story isn't the worst thing to come out of Toriyama but it still feels like something off of fanfiction.net. Frieza becoming stronger than Goku's new form in like 6 months (I think the whole reason
...
they made this movie was to start up a new line of Goku figures but now he has blue hair so epic), Piccolo being on equal ground with someone who shouldn't that much stronger than Captain Ginyu at max. Muten Roshi being on par with Frieza Soldiers even though it should be next to impossible for him to get all that much stronger even if he did train his ass off in the past little while due to his age. It was such a mess.
The characters are your quintessential Dragon Ball cast (Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, ect.) mixed in with some new characters and overall it isn't too bad in this department, no complaints here, really.
The animation was fairly polished here, I'd daresay it's the best looking film to date... if the cringeworthy CGI wasn't there. The CGI was barely there but good lord was it bad. The original series didn't have the msot consistent animation but at the same time it didn't have a $5,000,000 budget per episode.
The soundtrack was pretty generic there was nothing special about it so I have no real need to go in-depth here.
Overall you can just skip this one.

I went in with an open mind due to the mixed feedback and I can say this little mini-series was pretty good.
The story for each episode varies in quality but overall there was nothing overtly bad, completely serviceable Batman stories.
The cast was pretty standard Batman stuff. You had Batman, Alfred, Lucius Fox, the works. You also had some underappreciated Batman villains like Deadshot and Scarecrow mixed in there. The characterizations were pretty accurate and a fair chunk of the episodes had nice little character bits.
The art was pretty well done overall although I wish more of the bits were as visually interesting as the 1st
...
episode, that was the best looking one of the bunch. Everything else was generic anime style, but still perfectly fine. On the last note for this section of the review, some of the fights were pretty kickass as expected from any animated DC movie.
The soundtrack was pretty generic in all honesty. While it wasn't really terrible it felt like royalty free action movie music was slapped on and felt like one of the weaker parts of the movie.
Overall, if you're a big fan of Batman or are just looking to be entertained for an hour you should check it out. However, not every episode is gonna be your cup of tea, just bear that in mind.

I went into One Punch Man expecting a show about a guy who's really strong taking out absurdly powerful enemies with a single punch, and that's what I got.
The story is pretty simple, but it doesn't really need to be that complex. There isn't much one could really say about the plot that hasn't already been stated in the synopsis, everything is supposed to be taken at face value.
The characters are the highlight of One Punch Man. Each character is an overdone trope but done in an extremely tongue-in-cheek way which really works with the satirical nature of OPM. My favorite parts of the
...
show are when the characters start making fun of cliches that characters using like villains having overly-long monologues or characters intentionally trying to sound cooler than they actually are, it provides great situational humor and makes OPM all the more enjoyable.
As with most Madhouse anime, OPM has very refined animation. The art is phenomenal and I can confidently say it's one of the major highlights of the show. There's no comparison to be made between this and the webcomic.
While the soundtrack isn't anything all that special the opening and ending themes are very good and even some of the regular tracks played during the show are pretty good, too. Overall it's an average soundtrack.
How can I really describe the action sequences? They aren't out of this world balls to the walls amazing but you can't say they aren't pretty darn fun to watch. Anyone is sure to find one fight in this show that they loved, which is a pretty big feat for a show where the main character literally can punch away all of his obstacles. Overall the action very satisfying to watch.
I could recommend this to anyone looking for a decent parody of common anime tropes, although I don't need to because I'm sure everyone under the su n has atleast heard about this show.

If there's a single regret I have that stands out like a sore thumb, it's the fact I didn't watch this great show sooner. Everything from the story, to the animation, to the score, to the characters is done to near perfection in the extremely varied and creative shounen known as Hunter x Hunter.
Story:
Like I mentioned earlier, the show is extremely varied. Each individual story arc takes on a different tone so everyone is sure to find something to love in the show. Even when the current tone and overall atmosphere of HxH might not be your thing, that's no issue. HxH always provides an
...
interesting situation to the characters, whether it's on the battlefield or off of it. The show is all about tactics and evaluating the situation, so there's never a truly dull moment. And the thematic elements don't feel forced or pretentious. The themes in each arc are very clearly expressed and are effectively communicated to the viewer.
Almost every character in the show feels unique. Even when some characters feel like you've seen them a trillion times before Togashi makes them either visually or individually unique. most of the time he succeeds at both. Each character responds to situations in their own special way and has their own motivations. Sometimes these motivations intertwine. For example:
Gon: To find his father and ask him why he was abandoned.
Killua: To find a purpose for himself outside of being an assassin.
How they intertwine: Killua aids in Gon finding his father while Gon gives him a purpose through their friendship,
The animation, while not the greatest I've ever seen, is still silky smooth and is extremely pleasant to look at. Madhouse really did an amazing job with the visuals. The animation never felt inconsistent in the slightest, which is a damn near astronomical feat for a show of this length. The show is visually superb and borders on legendary status in some instances.
Once again I can say this show is superb in yet another category, boasting an incredible and varied score, fitting for a show with as much variety as Hunter x Hunter. Not only does the music make the combat scenes that much more intense, it makes the nonstop exposition fly by.
While not being really all that action based, it IS a shounen and action is one of the basic fundamentals of the genre. Surprise, surprise, it's got phenomenal action sequences. Not a single fight feels the same, all are unique in some way and don't last an eternity like most of the other shounens out there with their 35 minutes of muscular dickheads screaming. I can only think of 1 or 2 fights in HxH that are longer than 15 minutes. HxH also makes it clear that if the main characters are in battles with people a fair bit ahead of them they could die at any moment, leading to more tension than those shows where the main characters pull some op technique out of their anus.
The show as a whole is honestly a masterpiece. I couldn't really list off all of the things I found HxH accomplished extraordinarily well but this is a basic breakdown of the major parts of the show and how they were executed to near perfection. It deeply saddens me that HxH has only picked up with anime fans in the last few years, it deserves way more attention than it gets.
