I find myself not disliking Ocean Waves, but left with disappointment, I believe this film to be the least interesting film in Studio Ghibli's catalogue. Adapting a run of the mill love triangle story, the film lacked in scenes that wowed me despite the studio's ability to make mundane and small tasks engaging and wonderful, an attribute that has never failed in moving me in any of their other films.
No strong impression was made upon me here, although the relationship between Muto and Morisaki was enjoyable enough despite having seen this kind of story before.
