Toward the Terra is like Iron-Blooded Orphans about a group of family like comrades who travel through space to reach the place where they belong. They both very heavily emphasis character development over plot so the story takes a long time to pick up. Both shows are very emotional and touches on issues such as discrimination, survival in a world that has forsaken them, and struggle for a place to call home.

The main characters in both manga are really similar to each other personality wise. The story and plot are completely different however, but both are fantasy supernatural romances with a lot of emphasis on the relationship development between the main characters.

When I think about fantasy anime well done, Slayers is the first thing that comes to mind. Densetsu definitely shares certain traits in common with Slayers that made it a enjoyable watch. The chemistry between Ryner and Ferris reminds me ALOT of Lina and Gourry in that they both express emotion best by bickering and the girl heaping punishment on the guy. Second, the world building is really similar in that both anime take place in a hardcore medieval fantasy world of knights, kings, magic, as well as demons and heroes.

I recommend the two because they give the same feeling to the audience when watching. Both anime are about spirits and humans becoming friends and understanding each other slowly. They possess similar themes and pacing with a slight slice of life quality about each episode. The music and animation of both anime are light and airy with a hint of laughter to relax the audience into unconscious enjoyment.

The heroine in both anime have red hair and similar personality. They both gather a harem of pretty boys with super powers in order to fulfill some kind of prophecy. Each heroine is betrayed in some way by their close friend and it causes them to toughen up. The main hero looks extremely similar in both anime as well.

I am almost instantly reminded of Claymore when watching Shingeki. Both anime have many similarities in terms of plot, character, fighting style, and the overall theme of survival of the fittest as well as revenge story. If i have to choose who is the better main character Clair or Eren, i'd pick Clair hands down. Giants in Shingeki, and Yoma in Claymore are pretty much the same. They are monsters that are impossible for normal humans to take down, they also treat human as food, and there is much mystery surrounding how their creation. Clair and Eren are made of the same mold; their important person was killed by the monsters and they seek revenge through a journey to gain more strength. I would say the similarities between these 2 anime is almost 90% overlap. If you watch one anime, you can even predict whats gonna happen in the other one. In terms of music and animation style, I would say Claymore is a bit darker and more traumatizing because the animation color is less bright and the aim is toward a darker tone. For Shingeki the animation is bright hopeful even through scenes of torn guts and limbs falling all over the place. All in all, I would say if you find yourself liking Shingeki give Claymore a try and vise versa.

Yami no Matsuei, Ai no Kusabi, and Mirage of Blaze makes up the three classic triads of this type of BL anime. To start off Yami no Matsuei is similar to AnK in that the main antagonist is very similar to Iason in both possessiveness and obsession over their ‘love’ interest, but at the same time both have ‘to die for’ looks that makes it impossible for you to hate them. Both these anime unfolds into a complicated plot that keeps you absorbed by the conflict – which usually involves some kind of drama between said main characters – and the story arc ending will leave you in a pretty satisfied condition. If you are a fan of AnK watching Yami no Matsuei is a must.

Mirage of Blaze is a unique anime that is similar to AnK but at the same time rather dynamically different. If you enjoy BL anime where the two main characters are constantly ‘clashing’ against each other and thus creating a sort of love/hate relationship with a huge dose of drama then give Mirage of Blaze a try. The relationship development in MoB is far more subtle than in AnK so take heed if you are not a fan of historical dramas and lack the patience to endure through a slow paced story. However MoB is worth watching, if you are unsure whether you will like it give it a try first.
