I saw a reader say this series isn't comparable to Beserk (not deep enough, not psychological enough) and made similar comparisons to another manga I forgot the name of. They said Solo Leveling is simple. It's a zero-to-hero story with an OP MC and a satisfying read. They nailed that description.
Solo Leveling isn't deep. There aren't crazy plot twists, deeper meanings, or even extremely dark undertones. But it is an EXTREMELY satisfying read, especially if you love overpowered characters that basically win every battle despite many onlookers having little faith.
One thing Solo Leveling excels in is its character depth. The humans, the hunters,

I am angry enough to write a review, yes.
What started off as a promising story full of thrill and plot twists turned into utter shit the last 20 or so chapters. First of all, what a letdown when Arisa finally woke up. Her attitude was terrible. She was built up to be this kind, generous, optimistic girl and all I saw was a pathetic, selfish, ungrateful brat. And Tsubasa went from being a badass delinquent who stood up for what really mattered to a complete pushover for someone she tried saving the entire goddamn series who didn't give a shit in the end. The ... Nov 22, 2022

This manga took me by storm. I'm a huge fan of the ones that start out innocent, even possibly mistaken as a kids show, only to get incredibly dark. In that sense, this manga hits the spot perfectly.
But the plot itself is great. The author sets up a solid foundation and links back to things from the very beginning that you wouldn't think twice about at that point - but not so that you forget it happened. It makes you go, "Holy shit! THAT's what that meant!?" The characters are amazing. Really great development. It's rare for a manga that introduces so many characters ... Jun 27, 2021
(take this review with a biased grain of salt.)
SAO is my favorite light novel series/anime ever. Everyone complains about Kirito being too OP. And Asuna. And basically, I recognize it's a running joke in the anime community. But for me, SAO is perfect. I love OP characters. I love Kiritio and Asuna and their romance together. I love the storylines. All of it. I especially love how everything connects together in each new arc. Of course, nothing beat the original aincrad arc. That is, until the newest season, War of the Underworld. I got fucking goosebumps watching that shit. Pardon the language. But seriously. ... May 4, 2021
I actually read this before watching the movie, as I wanted something to base the movie off due to the reviews about the ending.
I'm glad I did. The ending makes a lot more sense. But overall, the manga/movie is just...decent. It's not amazing. It's not terrible. It's just decent. The manga's art is beautiful, of course. It doesn't quite hold a candle to the film, but it's gorgeous. There are only 10 chapters, so it feels more rushed than the film. It can still get a bit confusing at times, but if you have knowledge of the film its based off (or vice ... May 4, 2021

I'm probably not alone in this, but I saw the AMV "you can be king again" by "youlazybum" on YouTube before watching this film.
I became obsessed with the video and the song. I sat there listening to it and watching it for days, trying to figure out what the plot was, before finally giving in and watching the movie. And...well. I expected to cry. But it still pulled at my heartstrings. Everything about it was beautiful. The art, the music, the characters, the ending. Of course, if you're not a fan of really sad endings, probably don't watch it. Some people have a problem ... May 4, 2021
All right, so I know a lot of people didn't like this movie, whether it was because the ending was lackluster or they just didn't enjoy a movie as opposed to another season. Or the story, etc.
But I loved this movie. I thought it tied up all of the loose ends, for the most part, pretty good. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but the the "game" ends on a pretty satisfying note (in my opinion). And when every player's memory is erased, the male MC is unaffected. The only part I wasn't entirely satisfied with was the male MC leaving the ... May 4, 2021
I was really happy there were two movies taking place after the end of the anime, as it left on somewhat of a cliffhanger.
So six months later, the male MC vanished. When the female MC finds him again, his memories are once again erased. Thus a fast-paced battle of mystery and investigating begins. What I like the most about this movie is that the side characters - the other "selecoms" (?), come out to aid the male MC in "winning" the game, or rather "defeating" the game. This gives us some closure to a couple of their stories that started in the anime, though ... May 4, 2021

Honestly, I loved this anime. The plot was especially intriguing. It left me wanting to know what happens next. I also enjoyed the characters and the romance between them, however short-lived it was (as far as the anime ending goes).
The other characters were also very interesting. They even got some depth, despite being side characters! But overall, the mystery is what kept me going. You got this naked guy showing up in the middle of the street, next to the White House, with no memory of who he is, and with a cellphone where he can order literally anything through the super-cool AI, Juiz, using ... Gakuen Alice.... oh where do I begin. For starters, this is my all-time favorite manga. The manga is amazing; I've loved it for the 10+ years I've been obsessed with it. From the point where only 40 chapters were released.
But this isn't the manga, obviously. The anime starts out promising. It follows the manga pretty dedicatedly until the last episode. There are even a couple changes in the anime that I love. For example, in Central Town Arc, Mikan gives the last howalon to Natsume in the anime, instead of Narumi. In fact, from episodes 1 to 25, I was over the moon. The ... |
