I just briefly scanned some of the reviews posted here and I am absolutely disgusted. Out of the hundreds of reviews I've read, this is the first time I've felt compelled to write a reply from what I've seen. Most of you vaguely wrote of a story of 7 detained boys. One of you even insults the storyline saying there's no real character development or plot and it's just a cesspool of tragic pasts.
What you, who have not experienced any suffering in your lives fail to realize; is that even as exaggerated as the plot seems to be... The unfortunate things the boys go through
...
and their relationships are not only tangible, but very real. It is because of their circumstances and the time period that they build a camaraderie that is not normally found between friends.
As sad and depressing as this show makes out to be, this is what appeals us to it. The reason why it's such an amazing work of art. The point that many of you are probably missing because you have not suffered to such an extent to feel empathy for what the characters have to go through.
With that said, I'm not judging anyone's pasts. I'm simply stating an opinion from what I've read.
