''Gin no Saji: Harvest Moon Nostalgia!''
Gin no Saji, or Silver Spoon is an experimental series for me. and i was surprised that this series amuse me a lot
sure it has flaws, but a good anime doesn't mean it's got to be flawless, right?
Story 8/10
The story revolves all around Hachiken Yugo, who's without any goals, attend the agricultural school just to escape from his parents. Apparently his parent are so damn strict so..yeah it's predictable.
And so he's struggling at the school, which is of course contradicts with his daily lives in city. but luckily, he's surrounded with a lot of great guys, most of them comes
...
from farmer's family, to help him deal with chickens, pigs and cows.
What makes Gin no Saji's story amuse me is, execpt Hachiken, all the students there seems to have their own aspiration, Hachiken, with lack of ambitions, learn that sooner or later he's got to find his own goals. And also apparently, he's in crush with Mikage, cute member of the equestrian club, which encourage Hachiken to join the club, too.
And i guarantee that Gin no Saji has a very good comedy side, like when Hachiken realize that egg come from chicken's anus, and refused to eat them for a while. So lives in Gin no Saji is never getting so bored after all, and that's a good thing.
Art 8/10
If you looked at my profile page, it's clear that i'm fans of KyoAni. I won't say that Gin no Saji has a very bad art, it's good, natural and acceptable, but just that. Well at least everything looks fluid, although i'll be happier if the background (mostly farm and livestocks) could be brighter. Hope that the 2nd season could be better though..
Sound 7/10
Probably the weakest aspect of Gin no Saji. The OP and ED is impressive, but the background sound? it's utterly suck. I expected daily farm-feel on the background sound, but what i found is just medicore Slice of Life-feel. Well it's SOL show but it won't fit the story that's has a lot of
potential, though. dissapointing.
Character 9/10
This is the strongest point of Gin no Saji. I love to see Hachiken developed over time as he struggling with the new world that actually don't fit on him. And his contradicts background lives with his friend makes him so different in terms of treat the animals in the school, which is
shown greatly episode by episodes.
Enjoyment 8/10
I'm fans of high quality artworks, and it's a shame that i can't enjoy much aesthetics stuff from Gin no Saji. But the lack of great art is perfectly coverd with great story. The comedies is fresh, and it's somehow, remind me of Harvest Moon, on of my favorite game ever!
Of course Gin no Saji has a lot of potential and i'm really expecting a lot of surprising stuff shown in the 2nd season.
Overall 8/10
There's not much to say in the end. I would say that Gin no Saji is a very promising series and the sequel is what i anticipated the most. i expecting a
bit romcom between Hachiken and Mikage, but just don't too much drama of course. Life can be hard, especially in farm. But hard things always come along with fun things too.

''Hyouka: Mystery=Conan? think again!''
Hyouka is really something for me, it's not a complex mysteries shown here but there's lot of curious things to be found here.
Story 10/10
The story revolves around Oreki Hotarou, laid back guy whose notable for it's motto ''i don't do what i don't have to, if have to do, i'll make it quick'', Chitanda Eru, beautiful-energetic-always curious noblewoman, Fukube Satoshi, human wannabe and a walking database, and Mayaka Ibara, baby face but dangerous one- girl. they join the Classic Club and doing lot of fun things, mostly with mystery cases.
Hyouka is really KyoAni style, combination of SOL-School and moe, don't forget about
...
that. In addition, Hyouka got ''Mystery" genre for it's central plot. So, a high-schoolers doing detective works on murdering case? no, not really, the case given is really dead simple, like ''who's steal Ibara's chocolate?'' or ''who's Jumoonji?''
But what makes it enjoyable is how Oreki and Chitanda has a contrast behavior, while Oreki is trying to retrain it's motto, Chitanda act crazily when something mysterious attracted her, and in the end Oreki is ''forced'' to solved cases Chitanda ask for. Also there was a love complex between Oreki and Chitanda, and also Satoshi and Ibara, which makes Hyouka really amuse.
Art 10/10
I have to say that i'm fan of after-2005 KyoAni seris for it's stunning art, but Hyouka is another level- KyoAni efforts. the quality is movie-like, the movement is fluid and details are at their best. i have to praise KyoAni for presenting really good scene when Oreki trying to problem-solving the case.I can't say much about Hyouka's art but it was really splendid.
Sound 10/10
Starting with the lighthearted OP ''Reason Behind Kindness'' by Choucho, then truly masterpiece japan traditional-feel soundtracks, sound aspect in Hyouka is really shines, especially the soundtrack that really fit the story, while also increasing the mystery feel. i don't really like the ED but it was ok.
Character 10/10
I really love the way every characters develop, especially Oreki, Chitanda is get it's roll too, especially if she's so curious so badly and Oreki has no choice but to deduces the cases. Satoshi and Ibara on the other hand, had a love complex that really colors the story out of the box.
Enjoyment 10/10
I personally enjoyed every Hyouka's episodes, especially in the problem solving scene, it's amazing despite the cases given is dead simple, and Hyouka succed to presenting it into a very good moment, without a forced-feel.
Overall 10/10
There's nothing left i can say about Hyouka, sure i'm fan of KyoAni works, but Hyouka is different case. I don't enjoy it just because i love the studio behind it, but the story, sound, and art is really amuse me. Mystery isn't always Conan or Kindaichi, or mystery isn't always about real murdering cases, that's what Hyouka and Oreki Hotarou stands for.
