There's some people saying those who only watched the first 3-4 episodes don't "deserve" to give it a bad review since they didn't give it the chance. While sure, thats a fair point, truth is its almost unbearable to sit through the first bit long enough to get past how absolutely horseshit the beginning is. which is why most of the bad reviews I've seen sit around that point in the season.
I remember being so psyched for this season after really enjoying season one, but after sitting down to watch it one night, I honestly could NOT sit through any more of that whiny
...
green haired bitch complain about anything else after episode 4 (i forget her name but you probably know who I'm referring to). Every 5 goddamn minutes she would complain about how everything is her fault and that she doesnt belong in any group or whatever. I'm not even exaggerating it was SO FREQUENT (I hated her in season one too, anytime she was on screen i would just groan and skip past those scenes, so you can guess how totally ENTHRALLED i was to have her as a bigger character in season two)
Anyways, I could absolutely put up with the first few times of her complaining at the beginning of season two, because yeah thats all her character is, but after 10 TIMES OR SO IN THE SPAN OF 3 AND A HALF EPISODES?? maybe a tad excessive, doncha think? And same deal with the manifestation of the spirit tortoise or whoever the fuck she was, she was exactly the same kind of character, just a complete wimp.
So after getting a nice fat earful of both of those characters blaming themselves for every single little setback or inconvenience for an hour, I just really couldnt deal with it anymore. Keep in mind I am a VERY easy person to please, and i can deal with almost anything a show throws at me, but this was the first show I've had to actually stop mid episode because I was hating every moment of it up to that point. I really wanted to like this season because of how great season one was, and i gave it every chance i could, but i ran out of my "it is what it is" excuse REAL quick. Every episode up to my stopping point was just mediocre fight scenes and half of the characters constantly belittling themselves.
Listen, I can put up with shitty characters just fine, and i can deal with moments like the ones I'm complaining about mainly. But what's difficult is when thats half the focus of a damn episode. Once the main conflict kicks into gear (super early i might add, or at least it felt like it, heard it was rushed), you'll have some fighting, some boring-ass dialouge, then complaining and blaming, rinse and repeat. And i couldve put up with that sure... if the plot was even interesting or worth the effort in the first place. I had to ask myself a few times if it was worth sitting through the terrible dialogue for what felt like a hella subpar plot anyways. Guess you can see what i ended up deciding.
So yeah, just wanted to give a piece of my mind on this. I rarely write reviews for anything, but my burning disappointment for this season made me want to say something about it, for both warning and rant purposes. I'm not a critic, so I'm not gonna pick apart everything I saw, and i dont care if i made this "too personal" or whatever. Im simply sharing my experience and how it was very hard to enjoy, much less to even just sit through. If you enjoyed it, thats power to ya. I won't shit on your parade, but for me: 1/10. Maybe it got better :p
