I usually don't even add music videos to my list, let alone score them. This one pulled a 10 right out of my soul tho.
Content-wise, it delivers what the Pokemon youtube channel animations usually deliver. It has a very basic plot, a million awesome nostalgic easter eggs and heavily features the latest game. The amount of awesome nostalgic easter eggs is the differential tho, it literally features every relevant character and legendary ever, and the more you look the more you find.
Where this stands out as a freakishly great work of art is with the too good to be true animation+music. If you
...
asked me for a band to do anything for an anime it's likely I'd suggest BUMP OF CHIKEN (one of the best ops ever in 3-gatsu no Lion, one of the best eds ever also in 3-gatsu and the only good thing about Kekkai Sensen), and most people would agree that Bones is about as good as studios get. Most Pokemon short films have great quality, Studio Colorido just did a great job with Pokemon: Twilight Wings for example, but this one is just in a whole other level.
As a music video there's only so much you can do about plot, and this is as good as it gets in music, enjoyment and art. It's a weird 10 in the middle of incredible anime but giving what this is supposed to be it absolutely deserves it.

It's been a very long time since I finished something and felt like writing about it, it's a nice feeling. Uchuu Kyoudai is very unique. The face of the anime to me is the combination of the natural disappointment and stagnation of adult life and the greatest delusional dream we all have at some point, becoming an astronaut. It threads a very thin line between crazy dream and harsh reality, you feel like everything showed in it is possible enough but at the same time it looks so far off it's not worth trying. It has a very clear message that you have to move
...
if you want something and as humans it's impossible not to relate to it. So let's go point by point:
-Art: It's ok, not the best animation possible but it holds up well enough when it matters.
-Sound: Really really good, the soundtrack and effects are both spectacular. More than enough to help you sink into the story
-Characters: The main selling point of the anime imo. Most relevant characters get a decent amount of development, they do a great job of exposing how and why most secondary characters got to where they are. There're some that are just there and it kinda bothers me but the ones they do work turned out really well. The main character is just perfect development-wise, I have no complaints. This is where the anime benefits the most of it's size, there's more than enough time to go over every trait of his character. I could tell details about him but since it's a very long slice of life mainly about him I feel like it would be spoilerish.
-Story: Also pretty good, especially when it comes to the Mutta's part. Some subplots are unresolved since it is a cut from a manga. My only complaint about what could be done in the part of the story covered is the the big ass spoiler of a drama in the last third lacked some punch, I don't have any ideas of how to improve it but it didn't really get to me as much as I would like.
The show has an interesting every character to itself approach, while they obviously interact their life is showcased as very separate things, they don't hang out all the time and don't go over everything happening with each other, which I loved and I think is very realistic. It sounds dumb but it ended up elevating the story to me, it's a way better representation of how adult relations work than you usually see in anime.
-Enjoyment: It's really enjoyable, it's about astronauts, what else would you expect
-Problems: The show suffers from some problems common in long running shonen. I imagine it's because the anime was catching up to the manga and had to slow down, but the anime is unnecessarily heavy on flashbacks (it's actually very bad for the experience, you're constantly getting fed past information that you could remember and put together by yourself), I don't remember when it started but from a point on every ep has a 30 seconds epilogue on the beginning, there're like 3 sequential recap episodes and there're the insufferable Mr. Hibbit sketchs, there must be like 20 of them on the end of episodes and each is between 2-3 minutes long. The anime is constantly trying to stall the viewer, it's very annoying. It's something I could let go in Naruto but it hurts a lot a more character focused work. Plus, since it has an open ending and the manga goes on it feels offensive to see the end coming without anything resolved and loosing 3 minutes of an episode to a fucking rabbit anime joke. You don't get all you could get from 99 episodes.
The anime had the potential to be better but it's still really good, it's a great experience, I'll very likely pick up the manga sometime.

This is a sad one. I loved the first 2 seasons, read a lot of the manga, like the characters and Nanatsu is one of the very first anime I've ever watched. I wasn't even shaken by the fall in animation quality of the second season, so I figured even if they did a slightly passable job on this season I would still like it. There are a lot of interesting moments, including one of the most famous and hyped moments post season 2, but they screwed it up already.
The story is pretty average, but enjoyable if you are a fan, and some characters
...
are actually surprisingly deep, but it looks like a f*cking joke when the artwork looks like this. The only part of the actual animation that could be passable are the cgi backgrounds, but you can see the damn frames moving in a literal 1 fps speed when the background is moving, so nope, and the character design (which is great) is completely distorted. The actual fight scenes are depressing, sometimes it looks like they are choosing all the wrong angles, if you look into the infamous most recent battle (eps12-13), that is now a meme, literally 90% of the fight is shown in a weird/suboptimal angle.
The sound part actually makes the anime even more depressing, since the voice actors are pretty good and the soundtrack is amazing, but it is all put on the top of a grotesque animation. Its pretty much like that Gintama gag opening that they made on Paint, but its not a joke and will probably sink one of the most famous anime franchises of the decade. I seriously feel bad for the actors and musicians that have to hear their voice/music in this atrocity.
In conclusion, after we thought we've seen the worst of what a greedy rushed production can do to an anime after opm2, here comes TV Tokyo and Studio Deen (and the poor unknown studio they dumped nanatsu into) to show us a new hell. My condolences to all fellow Nanatsu fans, at this rate I hope we don't get a new season ever. Just read the manga and listen to the soundtrack at the same time, there is no way this torture is worthy it just to know the story.

(Might contain mild spoilers) Most certain 10/10 I can think of. Also, this review kinda includes the anime as well, since they have the same vibe and not many changes. While it's not actually perfect, it nails every aspect it has to. Starting with the the simpler things to explain, the art is really good, especially in the scenarios and character comical faces. Where it looses points to me is only in the fish and sea animals in general, witch might seem like not enough to take 2 points, but since it's supposed to be a scuba diving manga I think they should have gone

all out and drawn some insanely good looking fish. About character, while trough most of the manga there's not much development, that happens later on and is not really necessary, what really matters is that every single character is incredibly funny and really likable, some from the start, and other as the story progresses.
What really gives the 10 to Grand Blue is how they nail college life. Of course, there are many exaggerations, but there are 3 easy counter-arguments for that. First: most anime/manga exaggerates a lot about its main theme anyway. Second: it is a comedy, so it's kinda necessary. Third: It's not nearly as exaggerated as you might think if you haven't been to college or had a quiet students life. This guys really nailed the spirit of college students. The suicidal drinking, the proportion of what they show between classes and partying (like one in every 20 chapters is actually related to studies). Later on, when things get serious and the seniors have to actually start studying and doing projects that take all of their time, and start spending less time with the younger students, bringing both sadness over the brutal abyss in their reality and terror since this seemingly infernal life is only a couple years away. Not that it is that difficult, but they really represented the entire essence of college life, while delivering some of the best comedy I've ever seen.
Since I like to rate stuff based on how well the authors managed to deliver what they propose, how well its artistically made and how much I personally like it, there is no real argument to not give this a 10.
