Isekai Ojisan

Isekai is a very Otaku pandering genre, but these two shows take real life Otaku culture and reference it in and outside the Isekai world; both are very meta. A link between real life Japan - and by extension otaku culture - and the Isekai world.

Hige wo Soru. Soshite Joshikousei wo Hirou.

Features the rehabilitation of emotionally stricken young girls by a main character who will be relatable to most the viewership (Younger males with little experience when it comes to taking care of others). You might get some fanservice, to the dismay of some who might find it tasteless, or the joy of others (probably subconsciously). Ultimately both shows allow the viewer in on a power dynamic, having cute anime girls have to rely on someone relatable. It can be wholesome... or problematic. It's up to you.

Tejina-senpai

Senpai from Tejina-senpai and Hotaru are essentially the same character. Both are weirdly obsessed with a singular topic and express their love towards it in strange and typically hilarious ways that will be straight manned by the supporting cast. It helps that they look similar to one another as well, because they are both absurdly hot.

Fruits Basket 1st Season

Although 3-gatsu is much more pensive and a tad more dark, both shows specialize on having characters deal and interact with their internal problems; making use of visual metaphors and graceful dialogue to describe exactly how the characters are feeling. Neither show drowns you in sadness or pity, however. Both makes use of more wholesome and comedic moments which feel less like just trying to make the viewer smile or laugh, but more to remind them that life—no matter how bleak, is never always a bad thing.

Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine

Hachigatsu and Love Live are both about a group of high school girls coming together to form a more unorthodox club and all the challenges that come with it; in Love Live it is school idols and in Hachigatsu it is girls baseball. Similar tropes, similar personalities amongst the girls, similar drama you name it. Formulaic wise it is K-On part 500.

Conceptually these two are almost identical. I would say the main difference however is We Never Learn has far more interesting characters, and it being a Shounen Jump adapation, feels more Nisekoi-esque.

Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai

The Shirobako Specials were the adaptations of the anime inside of Shirobako. The second episode Third Aerial Girls Squad and The Magnificent Kotobuki are not only similar premise wise; cute girls flying in fighter jets, but the very same director who did Shirobako works on Kotobuki. Basically Third Aerial Girls Squad come to real life. Whether this was completely intentional or not, it appears to be a subtle nod at Shirobako.

5-toubun no Hanayome

Of course these two are similar because they are both your standard, vanilla harem show, but what what makes them noticeably connected is the main male leads mentality. Both are very studious and value education more than your typical youthful fantasies, especially the idea of falling in love. They share this sentiment largely because they want to help their family financially. The art styles are both surprisingly unique but similar to each other. Boasting bright pastel colors and giving the female characters bold hair colors that really make them stand out.

Yume ga Sameru made
|
Yume ga Sameru made is a hypothetical movie trailer created by a group of college students. The illustrator and OC, loundraw, seems to be heavily inspired by Makoto Shinkai's work. Beautifully drawn backgrounds, fantastic audio-visual directing, and a love story tied into a supernatural phenomenon. It is only 2 minutes long, but you will surely see similarities and most importantly the huge amount of potential loundraw himself has as an animator.

While it seems like the most obvious similarity is that both shows feature a photography club in school that is the backdrop for a romance, you can draw comparisons of the female leads and the side characters in both shows as well. Teresa (Tada-kun) and Hitomi (IRODUKU) are both entering an environment they are not used to, Teresa being from another country and Hitomi being from a different era. The side characters in both shows seem to have romantic interests inside the club as well, but with the other members.

If you didn't like Bakemonogatari for it being verbose, flashy, or unconventional but still enjoyed some of the themes used than Bunny Girl Senpai might be for you. They are both relatively inexperienced in the field of the club they are joining, and will have to learn from the friends they make in the club. Golden Time focuses more on a romance aspect, while Grand Blue focuses more on Comedy/Slice of Life, however.
