Aight. I don't normally bother with reviews, there's one in my profile because one show was so bad it compelled me to write one. Now's the time for a review of the show that was so good I just had to write one.

There's no outright filler(looking at you maid-sama), but clearly 24 eps was way too long for that show. Some plot portions were dragged out quite a lot, and some episode premise were way too ridiculuous and/or cliche to be interesting. I definitely skipped over some portions, around a full episode in total. Art was okay for 2007, I guess. I liked that characters ... had different outfits. Sound is nothing special, sometimes it adds well to comedy, most of the time it was just there, which is no big deal for this kind of show.

However. Being a cynical lonely man nearing 30, I immensely enjoyed this. It wasn't just wholesomeness and sweetness; the romance portrayed is immensely, immensely realistic. Having experienced both sides of such relationship, I could definitely relate, and, more importantly, connect and sympathise with characters. I didn't think I'd ever again care about any relationship, be it mine or someone else's, yet I rooted for Koizumi and Otani like no one else. For two days it took me to marathon this, the show made me feel alive.

Naturally, after I finished it, I cried like a little bitch. I just wish at least one of my two-dozen-and-then-some relationships were half as heartfelt and fullfilling. Please finish this, even if it's a bit of a slog at times. It'll be worth it.

The visuals are godlike and so is sound design, the story is a bit barebones but that's to be expected from a 40-minute OVA, my only real gripe is that an ending was a big fucking nothing. Like, the entirety of plot and all its subplots never got tied up and were just left to dangle quite awkwardly, like a penis of a 50-something dude who scored a girl twice younger than him but predictably failed to get an erection. Nothing in this anime is given conclusion.

Otherwise it would be 10/10 but the ending is really worth subtracting 4 points. I mean, it made ... me so mad I went and wrote this review, and I'm usually a very reserved person.

P.S. Came back to mention that not even the screenwriting is all bad, the dialogue was written pretty well and pacing was really good(made the show feel longer than it really was, which is a big plus considering the length), it's really the plot that ruins it all. What a waste.
