This manga was nothing short of amazing. Since this is my first review, I don't know how helpful this would be but hang in there, I've got some good stuff to talk about this manga.
- Character design: I started reading this manga for Ryo but I really enjoyed the general character design of it too much to drop it. I usually go for the mangas with character designs I would like and Pink Heart Jam certainly didn't disappoint. The way Haiga was portrayed was beautiful and he soon became my favourite character, along with Ryo (sorry not ready to let him go yet).
- Plot:
...
I wasn't expecting the plot to be so goooood. MAL clubs it under the school genre but it's actually based in college and events around it. I liked how open-minded the concept of this manga was, and how everyone is so accepting of each other. Even though it was 11 chapter manga, I really really enjoyed reading every single bit of it.
- Characters: Haiga was the perfect cinnamon roll ML for a cool Ryo. I actually liked the calm vs confused dynamic between the two a little too much. The other characters were also pretty well written too and you can feel their personalities pretty clearly.
- NSFW content: Yes there are some racy scenes in this manga but the best part about this was that it was all CONSENSUAL. I've not read a lot of mangas but it's difficult to find consensual sex in mangas. I usually find a lot of reluctant, or even plain-out nonconsensual scenes, and if that's something you're into, good for you, but those aren't my cup of tea. You also don't have to read a lot of 'no', 'stop' or something along those lines in Pink Heart Jam. The MLs only took an enthusiastic yes as the only cue to start getting raunchy. Another thing I dislike about most of the mangas I have read is that after a couple of sex scenes, the characters suddenly fall in love. The reason that Pink Heart Jam has an amazing plot is because it's well thought-out and even though sex is a part of it, it isn't the main focus of it.
- Sequel and other works: I went into this manga almost blindly without any context but after reading it, I found that it was cancelled???? But by the time I read this, the mangaka has announced a sequel (SO EXCITED) that's releasing this month and the official English volume for it will be announced in 2024. I'm going to read the other works by the mangaka because it's not easy to find a good story which suits my preferences and Pink Heart Jam was all that and much more!
I appreciate you sparing your time for my two cents on Pink Heart Jam. See you around!
