Wow... what an experience.

I'm honestly speechless.. There's so many things to unload about this show and I don't think my entire trail of thought would fit here in this review, so I'll make it short and sweet.

First of all, I am a big fan of the cyberpunk aesthetic, so this was definitely immediately attention-catching to me. As of today, we enjoy so many benefits of technology right within the reach of our fingertips, and honestly, imagining how technological advances are inching towards a society such as the one present here is very eerie to me. Needless to say, we totally cannot have a complete trust ... to technology, but at the same time we can't help it. We are the ones who made it, who continue to do so, so we should be liable for it. That is the big hole in this entire story: The loss of liability over the situation and trying the very best to totally quantify the human mind. It's actually kind of funny to me to imagine that technology can be that advanced someday, but some of us who are not that technologically-literate continue to blindly fall into its grasps. I think this is how people grew to accept this new reality, and its scary that something like that may happen in reality too.

Anyway, back to liability. Because of the belief the Sibyl system has on itself to be such a God-like figure over human beings, it pursues holes in the systems differently and does its best to patch it up. One way this is done, for the case in point are the criminally asymptomatic, is to invite these people to contribute as a part of the Sibyl system. Now, the path was pre-destined to be like this for people like that, but again, the System thinks of us as calculations and quantifies us; but we all know that we are complex beings that simply cannot be that way. An example of which would be our antagonist Makishima.

I was actually in such a dilemma with his character, I definitely agree with his ideals, but of course without all the unnecessary violence. It's interesting to observe how he acts, because it's like all that he has done would be justified when he reaches his goal. Even so, I had my own suspicions about his goal, and I became more curious about what his ideals were. It's not easy to sipport the antagonist, of course, but I was really amazed at how well written he was and how he was able to let me waver.. His character really struck me because he was able to grab my interest and take it all the way until the end. Even now, I really want to know what his entire vision was, but unfortunately we can't, huh?

I was really shocked with how my perspective changed with this show, because it is not only quite political but also brought up sensitive views (such as mental illness), as something quantifiable and completely treatable... The concept of change of status based on Psycho-Pass and immediate action for those who had clouded judgements was first an attractive idea to me, yet we really cannot dent the cunningness of our human complexities that it simply cannot be bent over this way.

This is where I'd like to highlight Inspector Akane, who was such a dear throughout the show. Her mentality is really strong, and I was super impressed to see her growth all-throughout. I am looking forward to how her continued growth blossoms into the next season/s... There is much more left for me to say about her but I would prefer to leave it to the curiosity I have on how the next season would be.

Lastly, of course, I talk about Kougami. First of all, I am but a simple person. I see a hot guy, I know I'm gonna be obsessed with him. And yes, that is definitely the case for this. He has such a strong presence not only visually, but of course with the way his mind works... He was in perfect harmony with Makishima and I absolutely loved how that was highlighted in the end. It was impressive to see how both character knew how the other would act, and I was really afraid of Kougami toppling over to the other side.

Kougami is such a dear character to me, again not only because of his undeniable sexiness, but because of his idealogies and traditional thinking in midst of this completely, techology-dependent society. It's nice to see that he completely understood where Makishima was coming from and he exactly knew what that aspiration was.. and yet he didn't give in. I can't imagine what kind of balls I would need to live in such a world.. I don't even know what else to say.. I guess I do admit I had to rewind sometimes because I was too distracted by looking directly at Kougami and appreciating his entire being... Phew.

All the political yadda yadda here was also really well put, I think that the things that went wrong were very clear. Again, it just comes to show how despite the convenience of futuristic technology, we really cannot deny the power of our human minds. It's a very interesting show about morals and societal norms too, so anyone into those kind of things would definitely enjoy this too. From here on out though, I am extremely curious as to how else this continues, especially since Sibyl is still around.

Ok, I'm gonna start this review by saying that I used to be a team sports athlete, and please take note of 'used to', because I think my nostalgia of my athlete days is gonna seep through in this review.

First of all, I do thoroughly enjoy sports anime in general, and I'm not gonna lie, it was one of the things I couldn't get out of my mind when I was an athlete. Call it cheesy or whatever, but I'm just speaking my truth here. I knew bits and pieces about this anime because of its popularity, but despite that, I was still surprised by ... how much I ended up liking it.

First off, the technicalities. I do not play volleyball, so I cannot call out which technicalities I find wrong here, so I don't want to be nitpicky about them. I found the game scenes in general very emotional, and I love how the motivation behind each player (although its mostly the main characters), is clearly seen. I love their inner monologue and their determination, it makes me feel very nostalgic of my past self. Those moments felt very personal to me, and I think that's one of the reasons why I loved them.

The story may seem quite simple, and sometimes maybe stereotypical of the shounen genre, but the emotions that welled inside me brought by the impressions left on me by each character overcame that, and I was completely hooked by everything that went on all-throughout. Even if the story may have focused on Kageyama and Hinata, spotlight was also given to other characters throughout the run and it was nice having an insight about them, no matter how little. I really like how they showed their sportsmanship here, and again I felt very emotional when it came to the Aoba Johsai x Karasuno match. I had a similar experience, though I'm no prodigy of my sport, but the bit where Takeda-sensei comforted Hinata and Kageyama really got to me, especially since I never saw my first big loss like that, nor was I comforted that way as well.

Anyway, this is only the first season, so I am excited to see more character growth later on. All the characters here left an impression on me, and I am looking forward to see how much more of themselves can they improve or even discover soon.

Man, where do I even start with this? Of course, I went into this knowing about how gay it is, but I knew nothing else. Although people may say its just another sports anime, what I love so much about this is the way that our MC is already well-known and established in his sport, yet an eye-opening side of his was laid out to the audience. It just comes to show that although one has reached that far, it is really inevitable that one day, you would just come to realize how you want what you do to have more meaning. As someone who ... used to be an athlete, I quite understood that feeling. Although I didn't reach as far as Yuuri did, I can related to the doubt I had over myself when I was playing competitively. I started with so much motivation and love for my sport in mind, yet later on I do admit that I somewhat felt lost in my purpose. That questioning of my purpose and doubts led to one thing to another, and it really had made me depressed and unmotivated, but eventually I pulled myself up again towards the last months of my athlete days and enjoyed them very much.

The story of Yuri on Ice shows how important it is to search for that meaning, no matter how far gone we are in what we've excelled. It is nice to see how it goes for someone as well-established in the sport as Yuuri is already, it is simply a sign that we are all human and there's no such thing as a perfect being who just keeps pressing on without any questions or doubts. It's absolutely beautiful how we saw the impact of each character to Yuuri, especially with Viktor of course. Viktor being his inspiration for so long, and helping him pull out from his lack of confidence was just so beautiful, and I love how Yuuri recognized that it's important to also think of those around him, those who believe in him, for him to love himself and his sport again. I believe that it's also important to note that each character here had different driving points, and also had, again, lowkey doubts about themselves and it was very interesting to hear what was going on in their minds as they skated beautifully. The feeling of being able to express yourself fully through your sport, especially in such an expressive one like skating, is very satisfying and again the motivations behind your actions can easily be felt when you really put your heart in them.

The sports matter aside, I also absolutely loved the dynamics between Yuuri and Viktor. And no, that is not because of the gayness of it alone, but because of the openness of this kind of thing in general in the YOI universe. There are so many moments where they were definitely, shall I say, oozing with gayness, but at the same time there were no exact words to solidify these actions. I also observed how accepting people are around them, and I am glad to see a world like that inside this anime.

All in all, the story felt very raw and it just had the perfect balance of comedy and serious, meaningful moments in my eyes.

P.S: I may have cried multiple times simply because Yuuri was just so beautiful.

This series was very fun from start to finish! I was absolutely entertained, especially with the dynamics between Daisuke and Haru, but surprisingly I was also really amazed by the cool gadgets Daisuke used and how innovative they can be if they were real. The music was also really great, I consider it one of my faves and never skipped the OP and ED song.

I'm kinda let down by the denouement of the story, but I think I'll still be watching the second season, if there would be that. Although Daisuke was the reason why I decided to watch this series, the other characters eventually ... stuck to me as well. I wanted to know more about them, but unfortunately 11 episodes was definitely not long enough for that. Well, 11 episodes certainly wasn't long enough for the whole thing. I believe the anime could've been better if it was longer, say at least around 20+ episodes, because I think it'd give the characters a lot more time to grow as themselves or with their respective groups, hence leaving a longer lasting impression on me.

OK WHAT THE FUCK?

This blew my mind. I went in blind and this was one hell of a ride. First of all, I fight for Mima rights! She was such a strong character here and it amazes me how strong she was all throughout the movie. From the very beginning, she was determined to be an actress and no matter what doubts were brought to her, she firmly took her stance identifying as an actress through and through. It was very nice to see ... her grow and not let her past as an idol bring her down or let her sway from her aspirations.

It was very interesting to see the dynamics between the protagonist and the obsessive fan, and the movie itself I'd describe as an onion because of the many layers it had. I started this review with lyrics from ONE OK ROCK's "ONION" actually, because the lyrics of that song encompasses Mima's feelings for me. The onion-layered story, accompanied with the beautiful colors and extravagant transitions absolutely left me in awe. I was speechless by the end of it all and really took some time after watching to just let everything seep in.

Ah, wow! This was such a big improvement from season 1! From the get go, the season pulled me in, and it was so interesting to look into Dazai's past and his role in the Mafia. Anyways, this went way beyond my expectations. Finally, we see some proper growth from Atsushi, from 100% doubting himself down to idk 50% doubting himself? So, propr to him from that! We also learn about the Agency boss' ability here, and I think it's quite interesting! Knowing about that, it'll be interesting how much more relevant it'd be in the future. On the other hand, the formidable enemy of ... the season was not so well-formed imo.. Like I guess I wanted to know more about them? Each Guild character just felt kinda all over the place for me, though I got absolutely annoyed with the Guild leader. Overall, this season was a good rollercoaster ride, concluding excitingly as well.

Imagine a long day of stress and work, dealing with yet another day of the tiresome routine from your cycle of life. Talking to people, being serious and attentive all the time, with little time to spare outside thinking of bills to pay and work you have to do. In the end, no matter what we do, we always look forward to coming home to the warmth and comfort of our humble abodes. No matter how simple the concept of us coming home is, it is such a breath of fresh air in the middle of our busy lives. This is exactly what this movie ... feels like for me, and that's what makes it so beautiful and wholesome.

First off, I literally used a wheel decider to pick what anime to watch next, and I usually watch things blind, so I knew nothing about this prior to watching. I'm not gonna lie, the first few episodes were kinda draggy, unfortunately the humor couldn't salvage them, but the latter parts were good. It's interesting to see the concept, but sometimes for me, things were going too easy or a little predictable sometimes. Even so, I still found this quite enjoyable because of the great characters and redeeming part of the later episodes. (minor spoiler) I felt really bad for Atsushi, because he keeps looking ... at himself as a weakling, and seeing weak growth from him in season 1 was such a let down. He kept on giving up on himself without even trying, and it was so disappointing he didn't realize how far he's come from where he started. I was also expecting more guidance between Atsushi's superiors in the Agency and him, but the relationship they had here was just... meh. The plot was not so complex, but seeing how things turned out later on, I am still kinda excited for what to see in Season 2. I'm also excited to see the progression of each member's abilities, and how powerful they can really be, as I felt like this first season just teased it.

This was soooo cute!!!

I read a few chapters of the manga a few years ago and I remember being absolutely obsessed with it, especially with the beautiful art. I'm so happy it got an anime adaptation, and all I really wanna say about it that it was soooo cute! Watching this anime made me feel so full of fluffy emotions inside, or perhaps just like how a child feels when they see candy. The innocence of each character in different fields (such as Haruki and Uenoyama with love, Mafuyu with music) was very cute, and the overall wholesomeness was just great. This anime honestly reminds ... me of salted caramel, a flavor I absolutely love, the perfect mix of sweetness with a tinge of salt that represents the angst. If you're into a simple story, music and a cute summer romance, then this one's for you!

Now, where do I even start? Before anything else, I just want everyone to know that as I am writing this review I am still crying. But it doesn't really matter, the emotions in me are just so amplified right now I'd rather put it in words now than later on. This simply is.. a masterpiece. I went in this blind, finding the title kinda funny at first, and now that I'm here I'm just completely devastated. I am in absolute disbelief that it took this long for an anime adaptation for this, but at the same time, disturbed by the fact that these 30 ... year issues are still relevant today. First thing I'd like to talk about here is how extremely dark the background of the story is, especially Ash's story.. I was so appalled by how detailed the anime went into it, and it truly lit a fire of anger in me that I didn't expect at all. I also love how everything is realistic, even the portrayal of relationships between the characters here and how they react to each other's actions is just mind-blowing. I didn't expect to like this as much as I did, and it really shook me to the core that even if I consider this as one of my favorite anime now, I'd never see myself rewatching it ever again. Pain, power, pride, greed, lust.. the portrayal of the roles of these sins in different aspects of lives in the story are very much seen. On the other hand, pureness and simple happiness have never been more meaningful, no matter how small these scenes were, they were so impactful I probably almost cried every time Ash and Eiji had such moments. Anyway, I absolutely love the dynamics of each antagonist as well, as all of them had such complicated backgrounds and were well-written, having solid reasons for what they want to attain. The thing I liked about this show the most is really seeing how powerful human relations are, whether they have a destructive or a strengthening effect on each character. I have such a soft spot for the Eiji and Ash, but a lot of the other characters (such as Shorter, Max, Yut Lung, etc.) grew on me so much through the show, especially because of how impactful the changes they brought were. Anyway, I can't make this any longer and I don't wish to waste more time to recover from what I've experienced in this series, just wanna end this review with saying a big fuck you to disgusting scum of the Earth like Dino Golzine and corrupted officials. I haven't read the manga, but I will and I literally bought the first 2 volumes after the first episode. If you're into crime, politics and yakuza-type stuff, then this show is for you. Best of luck completing this series.
