Preliminary (9/36 chp)
A burning cold-blooded shounen adventure. Takes all the usual tropes and puts them in a nature story about salmon. The art makes for great jokes, where the fish alternate between cartoonish-anthropomorphised and realistic depictions of fish. When you see it you'll know what I mean.

Story feels a little dry, characters don't have much depth (maybe those are related). It's good though. Has kind of a Gurren Lagann spirit.

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (24/25 eps)
This show is a decent concept with poor execution.

My pet peeve is frustrating shows, and Rin (the main character) is completely frustrating. At every turn he makes almost the dumbest decision possible and wins through with nothing more than spirit, learning nothing in the process. Yukio, Shiemi, every other supporting character, they are all fine. oh wait, the paladin guy is worthless too. Unbelievably worthless.

A lot of scenes feel like they could have been better written. The pacing of the show sometimes feels like it's falling over itself to escalate the action in lieu of interesting plot.

This is honestly not a very good show. Worth ...

This is Shinbo x SHAFT doing what they do best. The visuals are great and a major selling point. It touches on all the usual tropes as if to prove it's a magical girl anime like any other but then it goes and departs from all of that and gives us something new and unique. The story keeps you yearning for that next episode. As of episode 9 it hasn't lost steam.

This is an adult-targeted magical girl show. It's dark, heavy-hitting, suspenseful and the battles with witches are glorious and ridiculous. I'd go so far as to call it Magical Girlin' Lagann. It's even lacking ...

The main character is painfully dense and insultingly chauvinistic. It would be understandable, you know, since they're kids, xcept that the anime outright declares him to have good intuition and resolve and then portrays him as having neither. Gokudera is also awful in my opinion, but it doesn't contradict the plot nearly as badly.

The sexism really makes me want to punch the main character in the teeth. I'm hoping that's a flaw the author will have him overcome.

That said, the rest of the characters are good, the overall story is interesting, there's hardly any filler, and there are lots of good fights. Definitely a kid's ...
