I'm just gonna flat out say it, this anime is overrated. Now don't get me wrong, I liked this show at first, and I watched every single episode when it came out until like episode 7-8. Before you rage out of your mind, I am saying Komi is overrated, not overhyped. I honestly don't mind the hype that it gets, but what I don't get is that some people call this a masterpiece, and some people call it the best anime of this season, which I think is wrong. maybe 7 episodes, I've noticed that this show literally just use the same jokes and the same plot sequence like every single time. Yes, maybe you can say it has the same plot sequence because Komi is trying to get new friends every episode, but at least make the jokes different... The whole joke of the series is either Komi stuttering, dialogue on screen telling you what's going on, or Komi getting misunderstood. Another thing that I wanna add is that, I don't think a lot of people will relate with Komi if I'm being honest. I think everyone can agree here that almost 99% of the people that are socially insecure aren't in the same position Komi is in. Komi is in a such of a bizarre position that literally people with social anxiety and unable to communicate with others LITERALLY can't relate because a major part of being socially insecure is also being insecure of your own body, which Komi is not.
