( Short answer)
Well, I just completed my last episode of Attack on Titan. This is my first review — I never thought I would write one, honestly. The reason I wrote this is that I want to tell you guys something.
It’s been 2-3 years since I last gave a score of 10 to any anime. The last one was One Piece, and after years of watching tons of anime I adore, I finally have another to add to my list.
My favorite anime of all time:
Naruto
One Piece
...
Bleach
Code Geass
(Now adding) Attack on Titan
AOT is BEAUTIFUL.
I kinda cried after watching the final episode.
(Long answer):
Technical aspects;
After watching this, I find myself unable to write a review. It’s not that I don’t want to, but I fear that if I put my emotions into words, they might lose their intensity. I feared i might loose) forget my feelings/ emotions towards anime. I want to keep them with me, in my heart. Yet, I want to share my thoughts because Attack on Titan deserves to reach a wider audience and reviews are only way to make it so.
This anime was in stealth mode. production, character design, character development, character emotions, characters relationships, story, u name it what ever you want, this anime passed in it with distinction.
Production values good, mostly it is 2D anime, with some 3D stuff. Colour grading, camera, visual efforts every thing is perfect. We cam clearly see production values on screen.
Story;
There was a quote that goes like, "The cost of freedom is too high, and we all have to enjoy it shamelessly". This quote is enough to explain the entire anime. Believe me or not, every year atleast 100's of soldiers in real life die UNNECESSARYLY in conflicts in saving other person who he hasn't even know his name. When I read this kind of news, I fell sad for them. I kinda didnt understand why they all have to die. At one time I don't even have answers why we are loosing so many great soldiers in real life but, when I read history books I came to know that it is necessary for them to sacrifice if I want to live in piece. They are more like collateral damage of global politics for me to live in piece. Even today, there r atleast some 100's of soldiers who died but their sacrifice was not publicly reviled, in the name of national security.
Many people says different things but say what ever you guys want, when I see characters in this anime I don't why but this anime is very much related to above context.
Story is all about fighting for freedom. I guess it is true what they said in anime, there are many kings in past who tries to conquer entire world to unite it and live in peace, but none of them succeed. We, individually need to fight, put efforts in making our own piece, getting out own freedom. Likewise, Anime is a about a boy who just wanted to live with his friends and family peacefully.
Story looks simple but kinda complex. Through anime still 3 questions were still unanswered, ONE is why or who did our protagonist killed few guys we even see that both his friend and his father knows about this, important question is what made him kill those people
( may be saving his friend, I mean it is unanswered left for our interpretation)
And SECONDLY why in the hell did Yamir is so obsessed with Mikasa and help Eren, and another one too why Ackerman were slaughtered. Nevertheless the story seems best, masterpiece for letting us to interpret.
Characters;
Best thing about this anime is character development. No complaints. The relationships, bonds, their goals, character development was top notch.
Music;
When I watch any anime or film I don't know why but even second it is filled with some much bgm/ost. I hate it sometimes because it feels exhausted. But the best part about this anime is it's music/ sound department. The music/ sound directors took break at times, they filled scenes with just human voices, some time with low key music, when the time comes they give an amazing BGM. This is really a splendid job! We fell that something hype movement is coming, sound/ music department made a very good job in delivering a master piece.
Animation;
The best. Some CGI is not upto the mark but it is manageable.
Direction and manga story presented;
I need to say the anime director/ manga author has some guts, they made some changes in final season, the tone of shifting from good action to gore action. All drama scenes were top notch. Anime has a very good pacing and good adoption of manga. Characters design was the best in this anime.
Some people criticized ending but if you think deeply this ending seems a perfect ending for story.
Drawbacks;
I barely saw any -ve things about this anime. This anime relates so much to real life (if you are knowledgeable in geo political history), so some might not like it and complaint on character or even story progression but never the less this is the best attempt of saying importance of freedom we all enjoying shamelessly.
Conclusion;
WATCH THIS ANIME. You won't regret. If possible, support the author by purchasing manga/ blue ray disks.
