It's a perfectly good romance/school-life story with typical high-school challenges, adventures and misunderstandings. Given FMC's history of bullying, her struggle to fit in with her high-school friends is a little more intense than in other mangas and little achievements like saying ''hello'' first to someone or trying to join a conversation take up more space in here. But it all fits with FMC's background, chronic shyness, helicopter parents, etc..
My only issue with this story is that the relationship between the two main characters and their developing feelings for each other are the business of their entire class and vast friend group. Everything that happens
...
between Uka and Miura is constantly discussed among their peers and everyone takes intrest in not only how their relationship progresses, but also who's Miura talking to, if Uka's jealous, how many dates they've been on and so on. I realize that part of Uka's journey towards self-confidence and self-acceptance is gaining more friends and sharing her troubles with them, so I wouldn't really mind if she confided with her closest girlfriends about her feelings and doubts. But that's not the case in here. Everyone (including teachers) is involved in this relationship, everyone's aware of what stage in their relationship they are. There are almost no scenes where the two of them would be just left alone, given some space and their classmates would simply mind their own business. It just feels uncomfortable to follow a story where the romance is on a constant display like that.
Otherwise, It's a sweet, cozy story with all the typical characteristics of a high-school romance - there are beach episodes, festivals, hidden insecurities getting in the way of two main characters being happily together, another girl trying to steal the main guy away, becoming scared of getting more physical in the relationship and so on.
It's kind of rewarding to watch Uka becoming more independent and confident, but at the same time she tends to go a little overboard with her efforts to enforce changes in her life. It leads to some cringy and embarrassing situations, but the two main characters are really cute together and the scenes where they are finally together kind of make it up for all other flaws.
