Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is NOT a masterpiece like others will claim to say it is. It's far from that; it's just a decent show. The show starts of strong, introducing the protagonist David as well as the base concept of cyber psychos. However, within the first episode it is noticeable how rushed the show will turn out. It's as if the creators wanted to cram as much information and events within the span of 25 minutes. It's just too much information and should've been spread out across the series to convey a good story in terms of pacing. Aside from the shows pacing, I commend the

studio TRIGGER for their amazing animations and visuals as that is where they excel. When it comes to plot and keeping the story interesting as well as unpredictable, that is their downfall. From episodes 1-6 the series is entertaining and engaging, that is its absolute peak. After episode 6 the plot flat lines, soon becoming extremely predictable with the obvious foreshadowing. It feels like a chore watching this show once you already predicted how events will play out.
From an analytical standpoint, the story isn't as unique as people think it is. It has been done time and time again within film, media, games, text & etc.. It's just the same concept spat out but this time done slightly different in an animated format. The sound track is pretty good, some are good and some bad. Majority of characters are bland and only used as human shields for the protagonist to rely on. There was good potential for some but I guess they just had to be killed off simply because they were stronger than the main character. The dialogue is so simplistic it almost feels like a child wrote the script so I'm not sure if that was intentional. For the very view characters that did stand out amongst the rest, they were just killed off for no good reason. Characters like Maine and Rebecca carried the show, too bad they're dead. They had the depth and complexities to their character arcs and found myself routing for them rather than the main two characters. Lucy is such an unlikable character, she's selfish and at times doesn't really care about anything. Most of the 'side stories' were completely unnecessary just like her origin, it did not add anything to the overall plot. Some episodes towards the end, felt like fillers with no purpose.
The fact that I can't remember most of the episodes tell me how forgetful the series really is... I only saw it a week ago. I wouldn't recommend this show to people who enjoy strong story telling, great pacing, gore/ violence and amazing characters. Basically anyone who critiques. I'd recommend this show if you are an air head who only watches shows depending how attractive a character is. In other words, the average weeb.
This show deserves a 6/10, nothing more or less.
