This might be the best comforting and wholesome anime there is. Sure, it has some predictable tropes but I don't mind honestly. Sometimes, you don't need to have an over-the-top start to an anime in order to be good enough. It's not necessarily a bad thing to have unrealistic romances either, in fact for me this anime might inspire people to be as kind as the characters are. This anime basically teaches about how kindness pays off.
The pure-kindness aspect is cool but it feels unnatural for Shiina to care that much about Amane at first. It feels like the return-the-favour thing escalated a bit too
...
quickly in the first few episodes. She literally offered to nurse him inside his room while he had a cold. I know I am contradicting what I said before, but I understand why people would see it as too unrealistic. Then again, it was still interesting to see how the kind deeds triggered an ever-growing snowball effect (i.e. how the feelings developed). And I also liked to see how Amane did what Shiina did to him, to her - kindness is contagious; a back-and-forth ping-pong of kindness.
For me this anime really sticks out from the rest, not only because it's so wholesome to another level, but because I've never seen an anime where the kind, sweet characters genuinely deny that they're a couple or don't intend on being a couple but we all know that the feelings towards eachother are inevitably developing. Is this a new dere-type or does it already exist? I digress.
The anime reminds me of another anime 'Kobayashi-san Chi no Maidragon' where the other FMC goes in the apartment of the MC and offers to be a maid (in return for the MC taking the sword off her back, i.e. a kind deed), parallel to this anime. However this anime is far more simple and pure, as in it doesn't have that kind of fan-service and maid-obsessions (no offence meant to that anime).
I understand why people may find this too boring to watch, so it won't be for everyone. But for the ones who have the patience, please give it a go, it's worth the watch.
