One Punch Man starts with a brilliant concept, the protagonist isn't on his journey to become the strongest one, the most powerful hero on the planet, the pirate king or whatever; he already has reached the maximum level, defeating all his enemies with a single punch. As a viewer, you won't have to go through all the struggles that a hero might face like in every other typical battle shounen, and this is an incredibly satisfying and enjoyable aspect of the story. Saitama beats everyone. The parody of the shounen genre is refreshing and hilarious at time, Saitama is a passive MC who became a
...
hero for fun, he doesn't have any other standard motivation like protecting everyone, he is just bored. This can result in ridiculous situations, where even the people saved by him find it hard to believe his strength, since he doesn't look like a hero at all. Here you have ulterior satire in the contrast between Saitama and the other heroes, who are painted in a way you understand that their real motives are purely selfish- but they maintain a facade to be acclaimed by the citizen and rise to fame.
The story is simple, pretty linear, but unique in a way you haven't seen before. It succeeds mainly as a parody, it never fails to make you laugh and it still can make you reflect at times, like when it tries to be a mirror to society and how the genuinely good people are most of the times surclassed by those who only care about their interests. It has some amazing fight scenes, the animation and production as a whole is incredible (well, it's madhouse), even the music is fitting.
The characters are really whats good about the show, Saitama and his disciple Genos are really good people, you come to care about them, and it's almost impossible to dislike them- Genos is loyal, correct guy, a true hero in my opinion. And Saitama is just awesome, ridiculously awesome. He has some amazing talent and doesn't even care about it, his facial expressions are almost idiotic, stylized to maximize his nonchalance. The supporting cast has some huge personalities.
Overall it's worth its hype, being 100% enjoyable and entertaining, what i think an anime should aspire to be, and with amazing production. Its only flaw is that by the end of the show, the story still hasn't gone nowhere. Well, not that it is necessary.

it seems like lately animation studios enjoy making pointless anime for no apparent reason. watching this show i often wondered what the hell were they thinking when they decided to make it, i mean, were they on drugs? did they have too much free time? who would be so self loathing to work hours and hours on something so bad?
the episodes don't feel like episodes, they are more like recaps of something that happened somewhere else. where? i don't know. the story is absolutely absent. logic? what is that? it doesn't exist in this anime. the episodes don't have anything to do with each other,
...
each one of them focuses on a different character without introducing it, so you don't know who are they and what the hell is happening. the story is not narrated cronologically, and it doesn't have a conclusion. the world is built on nothing, you don't have a context, you don't know what's happened before the story started and you don't know what's the main plot. it's wasted time basically.
the characters love to say that they're gonna save the world every two seconds. i'm serious, half the lines of the show are about that. if you take this show as a parody of the fantasy genre it actually does its job, but i don't really think that was the original plan. apparently there's gonna be a full anime season about this next year, maybe i'll torture myself and i'll watch that too! jk
the opening song is fine, even tho the lyrics are ridiculous. the animations are fine too, they're good for a 5 min anime, the character design was pretty cute and some of the characters seemed interesting. but that doesn't mean you should watch this. please. don't watch this.
but if you want to watch an anime constantly wondering wtf is happening and at the end be left with a sense of nothing, then please, watch this.

One of the problems in the anime industry is that there aren't enought shoujo manga adapations. Another problem is that when those adaptations happen, they are often made incredibly generic.
Ao Haru Ride aired during summer 2014 and was composed by 12 episodes + an OAV produced by production I.G.
STORY: 7/10
The story starts in a really interesting way. The two main characters, Kou and Futaba (who liked each other in the past), haven't seen each other in years and when they meet again they're incredibly changed. Kou is not the gentle, femmine boy anymore (he's a douche) and Futaba is trying to change her
...
personality to fit in. Will Futaba find out about what happend to Kou? What made him change so much? Will she be able to break throught? And most important, will they be able to act like themselves?
The anime covers the first part of the manga, which is still ongoing, so it obviously ends with an open ending. Even thought the last episodes actually closes the circle that started in the first ep, and it gives a feeling of conclusion.
25 minutes episodes feel like they're 3 minutes long.
While the pacing is good, the main problem about the story is that the writers changed too much the original atmosphere in the manga. Futaba's inner monologues and struggles, that are on of the best part in the manga, result almost swallow and boring. The drama didn't have enought impact and Kou is almost made emotionless. I blame that on the
ART: 5/10
I may say, the art sometimes looks beautiful, like actually amazing. The backgrounds are fantastic and the colors and palettes are artistic.
But. There's something i can't forgive, the animations. They are so bad they kill the mood of the story, in a dramatic anime YOU NEED good animations to convey the feelings of the characters. I almost laught when i was supposed to cry cause they were so bad, especially since the manga art is so beautiful.
SOUND: 8/10
While the soundtrack is really nice, and the tracks are memorable, there's an abuse of the track "i will" by chelsy, which really gets old after some time. I get it. You love that song. But you can't have 23567 scenes that are supposed to convey different emotions with the same bg track.
CHARACTER: 8/10
This is a characters driven show. Every single persone of the group has something that makes them different and real. They have flaws and they make mistakes and you somehow can really feel them. You know that are real, even if they aren't. You keep rooting for Futaba like she's your sister, you want her to succed. And the great thing is that Kou actually has motivations for his change. It's believable. Their love is believable. At the end of the show you're left wanting more. You want to know what happens next.
ENJOYMENT: 10/10
Seriously. The show has lots of mistakes, it becomes a generico shoujo after the first episodes. But oh my god i wish it had 100 more episodes. From a subjective point of view, this thing really touches your soul. I suggest everyone to keep going with the manga because the best is yet to come.
OVERALL: 7/10
Watch this for a nice shoujo anime. Read the manga for an epic emotional rollercoaster (10/10)

I just finished watching this anime and now.. I dont know what to do with my life.
Story: 7/10
as many people say almost nothing happens in tamako market, but i don't really see it as a problem. The story still manages to being interesting and you get involved in the characters' quotidian life, it makes you wish you could live in their world and when episode 12 comes you feel empty and dead inside because you want to watch more. Fortunally there's gonna be a movie. Anyway the best thing in this anime is that it lifts your mood and at the same time it's capable
...
of dealing with deeper emotions, to be honest i shed a tear at the end. The pacing it's great and it's never boring, there are some freaking funny scenes and there's also a bit of romance which it's not treated in a cliché way. basically the story it's good but it's not great because it doesnt really have an ending and honestly, it should never end. i wanna watch it forever. the only flaw was the blushing i guess, wayyyy to much
Art: 9/10
The art was the cutest i've ever seen in my whole life. The colors were pretty, the character designs were pretty, the bgs were pretty and it was animated really well, It all fits with the light style of the anime. kyoani did not disappoint this time
Sound: 8/10
The op/ed were pretty good, really catchy and they captured the soul of the anime. Most of the soundtrack was ok but what was really great were the songs played in the scenes at the bar, those were spectacular and it felt vintage.
Characters: 10/10
wow this review sucks cause im only praising the anime but it's not my fault tamako market's so good. It's the characters fault. Because this is one of the best casts of the last years. None of they main characters is flat, they all go throught some sort of developement, especially the main girl really surprised me near the end because she truly showed her personality. The best is without a doubt Dera the fat bird which is ridicolously funny. You get attached to everyone and you feel what they're going through. Really wonderful.
Enjoyment: 10/10
Obviously. I started watching this after two of the biggest disappointments(chuu2 and kyoukai) so i was expecting it to be shit but it isnt. It really isnt. I laught, i cried, im missing it already. So it's obviously a ten.
Overall: 9/10
I declare this the most underrated anime of the year GO WATCH IT NOW WHAT ARE YOU DOING
If you don't like moe, this really shouldn't bother you because it has substance.
