The first thing I've noticed about this anime is the beautiful scenery. Okay, it's moe too, but so is 90% of other slice of life stuff.
Non Non Biyori focuses on lives of four girls who go to the same school, their families and friends. Okay, that's nothing new. We've seen that a thousand times before. But NNB has something that other similar shows don't have. It has... "it". Some charm that makes it enjoyable. I can't describe it; you'd have to watch it to see for yourself.
The girls are all of different age. Yet they all go to the same class because they live in
...
middle of nowhere and nobody else goes to the school except them. Well, two of them have an older brother who also goes to their class, but he has very little screen time. In fact, we never even hear him speak?! To make things more interesting, the sisters and their brother have another older sister who's the teacher in their class.
Like I said, this show is very pleasant to look at. Not only the characters are cute, but the surroundings are beautiful, too. Countryside never looked this pretty. The girls still have fun in their free time, but since they aren't from the city, they don't have fun the way city folks do. It's interesting to see how they make their own fun.
Okay, like many other SoLs, this isn't very exciting, so if you're looking for action, tension and thrilling scenes, you won't find them here. But if you want to relax and feast your eyes after a hard working day, NNB can be the anime for you. SoL lovers, give it a shot if you already haven't!

1) This show has "Yuri" in its title, it's comedy, and it's slice of life
2) I like yuri, I like comedy and I like slice of life
3) Well, the third step is obvious, isn't it? I just had to give this a shot.
4) .......
Okay, maybe some things don't mix after all. Yuri and slice of life don't make a fusion as good as I hoped it would.
First of all, I found this show boring. Nothing really happens in it. Okay, some of my favorite anime don't have much going on (it is slice of life after all), but when an anime doesn't have much going
...
on, it doesn't automatically mean it'll be boring. Sadly, that is the case with Yuru Yuri.
Then it's the characters. They're all just bland and uninteresting. Sure, they look pretty, but their personalities didn't appeal to me. Except Kyouko, who is a bit interesting as a character (a bit), the others were boring, or just plain annoying.
Yes, I like yuri and that haven't changed after watching this. But this show taught me that there is a time and a place for yuri, and that it doesn't fit just everywhere. Yes, while watching Yuru Yuri, I was actually bothered by the yuri element.
Why, you ask? Well, I was annoyed by the fact that all girls here were lesbians, bisexual, or at least curious. Not only it doesn't work that way in real life (yes, I'm a realist when it comes to this type of stuff; I may be wrong but that how I work), it's just unnecessary. I really don't mind lesbian characters, on the contrary, but not when everyone is hinted to be a lesbian, and nothing is actually revealed (their sexualities or... some actual "action" except harmless kissing). Oh, and I also felt uncomfortable at some forced kissing scenes, especially since the girls are underage.
Also, there was this running gag with the chick who takes off her glasses and fantasizes about yuri moments while watching her friends, then gets nosebleeds. And everyone else seems to be cool with it. Okay, it was funny the first time, the second, the third... but after the tenth time, it became annoying. Not only that, but she also has a twin, and we even had some slight incest hints. Some fat perverted otaku will probably find it cool and hot, but I just found it repulsive. I don't mind that stuff either when I'm watching hentai, but here, it just seemed wrong.
To be honest, I didn't really hate this show; if I did, I would've rated it lower. It has some funny moments and situations, some episodes were slightly better than the others, and I just can't hate the yuri element, even if I'm annoyed with it, which was the case here.
At the end, I must say this: just because I wasn't thrilled with it doesn't mean it's bad, or that it isn't for you. I'm very well aware that Yuru Yuri is fairly popular, and that many people like it, and I respect that. This was just my personal opinion of it (and I have a very, very specific taste), so I can't say I wouldn't recommend it to you. If you like yuri, comedy and slice of life and if you think that they can mix (unlike me), try watching it. Chances are, you'll like it more than I did.

While browsing titles for something with a high school setting, I stumbled upon Girl's High... Six high school girls and their misadventures, plus some ecchi? There was no reason for me not to give this a chance.
Each one of the six MCs has her own personality: there's an immature one (make it two, actually), a petite one, a shy one, a mature one, and one that wants to be an actress. I must say that I liked each and every one of them; there was no MC that I hated. I really liked how the characters were created (which includes their designs), as well as
...
their relations. They do have their bickering, but at the end of the day, they stick together to overcome any problem they run into. A bit cliché maybe, but it still works for me.
The sound is also good. I especially liked the ending theme.
Why I liked this anime: while watching, I kept seeing things that I wanted to see. For example, in TV shows with a high school setting, I really like to see the antagonist: usually a rich and popular girl who plays the MC's rival. There was such a character here. Then there were some (mildly) dirty jokes, innuendos... I simply couldn't dislike that.
Another good thing about Girl's High is that, unlike some similar titles, episodes don't look like each other: they explore different parts of the girl's lives. In one episode the girls have a dating party, in another they participate in the school sports fest, then they go to the swimming pool, then the culture fest... I liked the variety of stories.
What about ecchi? Well, much to my misfortune, there's no nudity here; just a great amount of pantyshots, especially in the first few episodes. It's just not my thing (personally, I don't even consider anime an ecchi just because it has lots of pantyshots), and I would've liked it better if they showed us some boobs, but it's not a big complaint.
At the end, I was disappointed because this anime only has one season. The last episode left some space for more episodes, but unfortunately, apart from three short OVA episodes, there's nothing more. Which is such a darn shame.
To put it shortly, this anime reminded me of Azumanga (six high school girls and their everyday lives), but with more mature humor. Since I like both Azumanga and mature humor, this anime was almost bound to "buy" me. And it did. Okay, I can't say it's my new favorite thing, but it was definitely worth my time.

Do you like girl-on-girl hentai? And you don't mind censored p**sy? Then give this a chance, if you already haven't.
I've always hated censored hentai. If I watch hentai, I want to see everything. But this is just so good-looking, so beautiful, so pleasant to watch, I didn't even mind the pixilated vaginas... well, not much. I still would've rated it higher if it wasn't censored.
Not only it looks very nice, it's a very warm and touching story. Basically, we have (only) two characters: Mai and Reo, high school girls, and they're not just lovers, no siree: they truly love each other.
The story, of course,
...
isn't very deep, but it's still good: Reo is sick and Mai comes to check on her. But she just loves her so much she can't resist not to touch her soul mate, even though she's got a fever...
The scene where Mai gives water to the sick Reo by drinking it and then kissing her to "give" her water directly from her own mouth, is something I've never seen before, and I liked it.
Yes, this hentai is actually heartwarming. We definitely need more stuff like this, instead of all those tentacle rape and other sick fetishes. We have sweet kisses, gentle touches, stimulating, all ordinary stuff. I don't need anything more.
After watching, it left me jealous. The kind of relationship that Mai and Reo have is the kind of relationship I want to have with my future girlfriend. So, yes, it was definitely worth watching. If only there wasn't for that damned censorship... And/or if there was more episodes...

Ever since I've seen Azumanga, I've been on a quest to find some slice of life comedy with cute girls that I'll like as much as my favorite anime. After a few failed attempts, I have finally found something I got hooked on after the first episode. Ichigo Mashimaro!
I do like moe and cute-girls-doing-cute-things, but I don't like each and every anime that has those. It has to be done properly. And this is, at least in my opinion, done properly. Cute-girls-doing-cute-things at its best.
We have five protagonists: four 10 and 11 year old girls who go to school and face everyday situations typical for
...
girls of their age, and one of them's older sister who often hangs out with them. They're all drawn very cute and likable, and they're all also likable as characters. All five of them. There wasn't a single protagonist that I've disliked. I especially liked Miu, who constantly pulls pranks on the other four, annoying them to no end. And there's another popular running gag (I won't reveal it here, however) that many fans were talking about, including a minor character named Sasazuka.
What I liked so much about this were the situations and the relations between characters. I was greatly amused every time Miu pulled a prank on someone. Nobue (the older sister) often has to discipline her in various ways, like having her laying face-down on the ground (one of my favorite running gags). But they still have a close bond, and that's what makes this so heartwarming while funny and entertaining at the same time.
Art in general is nice, pleasant and with vivid colors. Voice acting and music are also good. The story isn't very deep and characters don't develop that much, but that's not really something you expect from this kind of anime, so it didn't bother me.
Azumanga was the first anime I've added to my favorite, and "Strawberry Marshmallow" is the second. So, yes, I really, really liked this one. It's easy to follow, the characters are incredibly cute and likable, and the situations are funny and amusing. I highly recommend it if you like moe, slice of life, cute-girls-doing-cute-things anime.

Wow, I think some of my brain cells died after watching this.
The main reason I picked this hentai is the fact that it's uncensored (I really hate pixilated genitals). The second reason is that it doesn't have any stuff I don't like such as rape, tentacles, BDSM etc.
Unfortunately, just because it's uncensored and doesn't have any twisted stuff in it, doesn't automatically mean I'm going to like it. On the contrary, I hated this hentai.
Okay, I know you shouldn't expect much from a story in hentai, but you certainly can do better than this. The story is shallow, unoriginal, unconvincing and so unbearably stupid. Basically,
...
the MC is a tutor who gives lessons to some hot teenage girls, and all of them - as well as their mothers and every female human being around him - want his d*ck. Unlike some harem titles, where MCs are clueless idiots, Atsushi - that's the MC's name - takes advantage of the situation. The situation every one of us has been in at least once... right?
Oh, and to top is off, there's one really sick detail at the end that made me vomit a little. So, I'm rating the story 1 - the first time I gave the lowest rating to something here.
Art is decent, but nothing more than that. The characters look weird from distance at some moments. The sex scenes are enjoyable and fappable and that's the biggest plus in this title. No, wait, it's the only one. And that's why I didn't rate the art lower. Sound is also alright; it reminded me of classic porn flicks from 70's and 80's.
So, if you look for nothing else but pure, uncensored, hardcore harem action without any decent plot or characters whatsoever, you may like it. But if you want an anime that doesn't insult your intelligence, even though it's hentai, do not, I repeat, DO NOT watch DokiDoki Oyako Lesson.

Hmmm... I'm not sure what should I think of this anime.
I stumbled upon Yuyushiki searching for something similar to my high school/SoL/comedy favorite, Azumanga Daioh. So I gave this a shot. And I watched the whole thing through. Does that mean I liked it? Well... let's say I did, but...
We have three high school friends: Yukari, Yuzuko and Yui. Yui is mature and rational (well, most of the time), but the other two are everything but that; they're silly, random and pretty weird. They talk about most random things, that sometimes lead to pretty banal conversations.
Okay, so what did I like about Yuyushiki? First, it's
...
the cuteness of the girls, especially Yukari, who's my favorite. Then, it's their ability to make every conversation silly and funny. Even when they talk about dark themes such as death, it doesn't seem as dark as you think it should be.
Another thing I liked is the educational part. Being members of the Data Processing club, the girls reveal some interesting information about various topics (planets, animals, food, etc.) that you might not know.
What did I not like? Definitely the fact that this anime sometimes gets too weird and/or random for my taste. At times it's just awkward. The relations between the characters, both main and supporting ones, aren't clearly defined. The yuri element is also present in some episodes, but it's very mild, and in my honest opinion, completely unnecessary. And that comes from me, a yuri fan.
Speaking of character relations that aren't defined, their teacher also confused me a bit. She's their teacher, but they keep calling her "Mom"? I'm not sure how common is it in Japan, but to me, it seemed a little odd.
So, in short: not bad "cute girls doing cute things" anime for those who like that sort of stuff. If you don't mind lots of weirdness, randomness and general silliness, give it a shot, you might like it. And you might learn a thing or two about planets or animals on the way.

What was lacking in the main show, was shown here.
Like I said in my Kanokon review: I watched it mainly for the ecchi scenes and boobs, but I didn't actually get to see much nudity. So the Specials gave me what I wanted to see. And I'm thankful for that.
The story is almost totally absent. Kanokon Specials, basically, consists of 12 minisodes, with the average length of two minutes, and they contain short segments filled with eroticism. One of them, for instance, has Chizuru picking a Valentine Day's gift for Kouta, the other features mostly static images, and some other minisodes feature other characters, such
...
as Asahina or the twins, in provocative poses and situations.
Yout get the gist: this is just pure fanservice, made for those who were unsatisfied by the amount of boobs in Kanokon. Being one of them, I liked this, even more than the show itself. On the other hand, if you didn't like Kanokon and don't care about ecchi scenes and nudity in it, you won't miss anything by avoiding this.

I won't lie to you, I watched this primarily for the ecchi scenes and fanservice. So, did I get what I wanted?
I read some people's comments and reviews about Kanokon being borderline hentai, with lots of nudity, so I was intrigued. Well... can't say I was satisfied.
First, expect most of the ecchi harem stereotypes here. We have a main character who's pretty bland, and has two hot chicks throwing themselves at his feet. Does he react? No, of course not. He's constantly embarrassed by them shoving their boobs in his face. Additionally, the two chicks are yokais - one has fox powers, and the other
...
one has wolf powers.
There are also a few side characters, but most of them were forgettable. The only side characters I liked were the redhead twins. Some of the scenes with them reminded me of classic Looney Tunes cartoons. There were also some one-time characters (mostly villains), and they were above average.
The art is okay but nothing special. Same goes for the sound.
So, what I wanted to see most here were ecchi scenes and nudity. Okay, to be fair, there were many ecchi scenes, boob grabbing and playing, panty shots etc. But the actual nudity was, in my opinion, scarce.
Oh, and the ending was bland and anti-climactic, too.
So, this anime is really nothing special. Watch it if you like ecchi, teasing, boob play, and other standard ecchi stuff. But if you're looking for a deeper story, character development and something more than just two yokai chicks obsessing over a clueless main characters, avoid Kanokon.

Cute and visually pleasing. That's my first impression of this anime.
So, the main character is some fusion of Twilight Sparkle and Sabrina, set in a Harry Potter-esque world (even the Sorcerer's Stone is mentioned). There is also a fair share of action, as well as some comedy. All that packed in 26 minutes.
The other characters are also interesting, especially Sucy. The overall atmosphere is nice.
The story is simple but very effective. It's fast-paced (well, they did have only 26 minutes to tell everything they wanted), almost every scene is important and relevant to the story, and the climax is just epic. If you like this
...
witch-in-training stuff, you might want to check this one out.
Actually, I think the biggest problem is that I'm not a fan of this witch stuff myself, otherwise I would've probably liked this even more. Even so, I still found it amusing. The art is just wonderful and the story/setting makes this worth watching.
