This is a manga about Punpun which is essentially an "anonymous" character. It covers his journey from childhood to adulthood with various life topics and struggles such as sexuality, friendship, loneliness, depression, family issues (sometimes told through his friend's story).
Over time each of the characters will grow on you and you will end up caring for them and wishing for them to succeed in life (maybe because they might remind you of somebody you know), making it heartbreaking when they end up somewhere they shouldn't.
