...then you might like Mononoke add

Both Mushishi and Mononoke are about traveling "magicians" who help solve peoples' problems. Both stories take place during an Edo-like period and have beautiful character designs. Mononoke has longer story arcs while Mushishi has a one-shot episode format. Ginko (Mushishi) is more personable while Kusuriuri (Mononoke) is more ethereal.

If you liked Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch add

...then you might like Umi Monogatari: Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto add

While these two seem to be polar ends of the mahou shoujo spectrum, I would highly recommend if you enjoyed the oceanic themes of Mermaid Melody and are looking for a more serious series to watch that you see Umi Monogatari. Umi Monogatari is a shorter, more mature series with beautiful landscapes and animation.

...then you might like Chihayafuru add

Both Chihayafuru and Hanasaku Iroha are coming of age stories about young women struggling to find their place in world. Ohana and Chihaya both search for something to be passion about and their stories follow them through their hard work and determination towards their goals: becoming the best, succeeding and making the people around them feel good. Both stories center themselves around traditional Japanese cultural themes (inn keeping, karuta). Both have beautiful animation and character designs, paired with wonderful costumes. There is also a degree of romance (specifically love triangles) in both series as well as lot of female bonding. Both of these series are exceptionally good and I would highly recommend them to anyone who likes female-empowerment stories or slice-of-life in general.

...then you might like Hanamaru Youchien add

Both series are slice-of-life centered around a group of small girls. The animation in both is very good and cute. A big difference is between the two is that Hanamaru Youchien has more romance while Ichigo Mashimaro is purely cute antics.

...then you might like Un-Go add

Both series deal with a post-apocalypse settings and conspiracy. Both have characters whose genders fall outside of the male/female binary (Inga, Nezumi and Inukashi).

...then you might like Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica add

Both Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica and Bokurano center themselves around very common anime plots: school children being exposed to a magical or otherworldly force that offers them great power/makes them special. Both series than explore a perverted version of these plot lines giving them a grittier reality. Both Bokurano and Madoka explore the realities of being bestowed powers by a seemingly harmless off-worlder and the consequences implied.

If you liked Michiko to Hatchin add

...then you might like Usagi Drop add

Both Michiko to Hatchin and Usagi Drop are centered around issues of child rearing and child abandonment. Both Rin (Drop) and Hana (M2H) struggle with feelings of lonliness and abandonment. Both series have images of abcentee biological parents and orphans. Both Michiko (M2H) and Daikichi (Drop) have to make a lot of adjustments for their adopted children, so both series carry heavy coming-of-age and responsibility themes. Usagi Drop is more light hearted and concentrated real world (slice-of-life) while Michiko to Hatchin is more action packed and focuses more on adventure, both series have beautiful art and story lines. Both are a must see for anyone who has a soft spot for kids and parenthood.
