I feel like people are thinking too hard about this.

It's a goofy anime. Most of what it does is for the sake of goofiness. The super sexualized shots have been criticized a bunch, but the way I saw it, they were part of said goofiness and added to the funny nonsense. It doesn't take itself too seriously, even though it could probably do fine without the jokes as well, as a serious story anime. The buildup of tension, empathy for the characters and all did it for me.

If you like Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou type humor, you'll probably like this. I feel like going ... in with very little expectations was the right choice for me, as in the end it's not meant to be thought about so much. If you are a very active viewer who enjoys watching to dig into subtext and clues and such, this will probably not be very stimulating for you.

The artwork is amazing. The detail and skin feel is, in my opinion, unmatched by other similar manga. The faces are expressive and the bouncy flesh is animated.

The story features all kinds of different fantasies, including but not limited to cheating, femdom, bondage, and roleplay!

Yesterday I had this dream that penguins had their own UN-recognized sovereign state. I wish I could go to their island and have some fish and ice cubes. I'd like to see what life on the island is like. And I'm sure they'd be welcoming. Penguins are nice! If anyone would like to come with me I'm going there next ... January. What can I say? It's just great.

It feels very real somehow. The characters feel solid and three-dimensional, and the sense of danger feels very real too. I think the "weakest point" for me (which isn't especially weak at all, but I guess just not AS strong as the other parts) is the coherence of the story. It feels sort of like
Actually I'm gonna stop myself right there. What I was trying to say was that the events of the story didn't feel planned out as meticulously as it could've been, for everything to tie together in the end and just knock your socks off ... with awe. But maybe this somewhat messy structure is part of what made the world feel so real and believable. Maybe overplanning the story structure would ruin the organic feel of the story.

What I was thinking of was endings like Cowboy Bebop, Rape! Rape! Rape! and Danganronpa where it just goes pa pa pa POOOOW and you just go AAA wooo and it's awesome. But then again, this is just the first arc of a bigger story, so I don't know. Maybe it's saving that pa pa pa POOOW moment for later. As a standalone story it's just very epic and I think it could get even more epic in the future.

This movie drew me in with bold visual and interesting character designs, and I went in thinking I'd love it no matter what the story would be. As it turns out, that was not the case.

Art: Holy shit. 10/10

Sound: The voice acting is top tier in my opinion. However, I found a lot of the background music ear deafening, and made me consider muting it altogether. The song in the end is great though, and it justified

Story: Much like the sound, the movie starts off very sporadically, introducing a lot of action and characters in the first 10 minutes of the film, making you ... feel a bit lost. It feels like the start was just like the start of a youtube fortnite video, desperately trying to keep you from clicking away, and while this opening scene does establish the characters very efficiently, it does so on a very shallow level. The motive is quite weak and hardly pulls the story together, making it all feel a bit chaotic and disjumbled.

Character: As mentioned, the characters are introduced on a shallow level, and don't get much development later on. And when they do, they're very in-your-face about it. It feels like they're trying desperately to make it so that everyone on the face of the earth can understand the themes, and while that sure offers "accessibility", it makes it feel a bit plastic, and compromises the immersion.

Enjoyment: It was alright. I really wanted to love this movie, and kept searching for redeeming qualities throughout the course of the film. Eventually I got to a point where the movie became enjoyable, but I'm not sure it was worth living through all the problems that came before it.

To the author: Believe in yourself more. A few people might click away, and that's fine. A few people might not get what you're trying to say with it, and that's fine. I think you have a lot of potential, but I think your need to appeal to everyone is holding you back. You don't need to repeatedly tell the viewer that this is a movie worth watching. I came because I wanted to watch it.

It starts off pretty well, it feels like I'm about to read the manga equivalent of the suite life of zack and cody. Then some spooky mysterious stuff goes down and it turns into a horror manga.

I felt like the story was too fast paced for its own good. I didn't get enough time to care about the characters, and I feel unaffected when they're later disposed of. In my opinion, there wasn't enough time to build for the climax either. There was a sense of tension brewing for a while, but unfortunately it gets released pretty quickly.
aThe art is good but it didn't ... exactly stand out. I gave it an extra point for the cover illustrations though, becacuse wow.

In conclusion: It's an okay horror manga. It's not bad by any means, but I wish the author had been more patient with the plot. Personally I think he can go places if he works on that specific area.
