I have seen all 10 episodes of the first season and even continued to watch most of the second season. I binged this show within two days because I was in denial about the fact that my confusion stemmed from how I saw the characters as opposed to the fandom of this show and manga. The story begins with a heartwarming tale of an older brother figure who essentially raises Ren, the little boy, and do to tragedy they are separated before they learn that they are now legally siblings. Yes, this means the show is about an incestuous relationship between a grown man and
...
a literal child.
I read a review that claimed the age gap was the same as the gap in Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi (The World's Greatest First Love) and this was not the case at all. Even without their ages being explicitly stated until the second season, the older brother Haru, is four years older than his younger brothers (a pair of twins) who recently turned 18. This means he is at least 22 years old, and since he essentially raised them, and continues to be the legal guardian of Ren, he is a parental figure. Over the first season, he went from being a kind and caring older brother to a literal groomer and pedo.
I don't know who needs to hear this but Ren is a victim and the other characters in the show know this. They just don't care because why else would this story exist. It was so jarring how the anime is well-animated and the character designs are nice. The other characters are normal people, and not everyone knows about Haru and Ren's "relationship". I wanted to see how their mother would react when she found out so I kept watching and it turns out that she was fine with it because everyone is treating Ren like a child when it's convenient and like an adult who can consent to a relationship with another adult when it's convenient. I think because I watched so many episodes at once that I had a hard time processing everything, and now I am certain, there are too many people who think child abuse is romantic.
