Both stories are lighthearted romantic comedies. Both main characters are strong-minded females who eventually get involved in a love triangle due to the strong and close ties with friends. Hana Kimi takes place during high school while Venus in Love takes place during college. If you liked one, you'll like the other.

Both about a female guarding and protecting a rich dude.

Both of these fantastic manga are similar with a huge 'war' between the powers of good (angels or messengers of god) and the powers of darkness (devil, demons, etc.) Also, both mangas have a romance between a person of the good and dark powers. Makes for a really sweet plot!

If you liked Tenkuu no Escaflowne add

...then you might like Dr. Rin ni Kiitemite! add

Both anime are heavily influenced with fortune telling and "fate." Both main characters can predict fortunes and the future. There's romance in both and a huge fight that involves fortune telling. Dr. Rin is more humor-based while Escaflowne is a bit more of action drama. While both anime have a clear story to tell, Escaflowne is more serious and complete.
