A controversial story comes into play in this novel. What is right, what is wrong, what you should, what would you do, etc. Once you pick this book up you absolutely can't put it down because you're immensely drawn to the deep story. The ultimate story about survival, at its fiercest stages, that surpasses any other book you've ever read relating to the subject.
Battle Royale is one of the few novels that I can give 10/10 in every category. The story itself is very powerful and every page makes you think about what you've just read. Also, the characters develop and grow in different directions

and ways, and you can see how everything becomes psychological. Once you begin reading, Koushun Takami's words will trap you in your own imagination, as everything in the story can be easily be pictured. It goes beyond Golding's classic, Lord of the Flies, as Battle Royale explores the even more dark aspects of mankind.
I read the novel first a few years ago, watched the two movies, and read a couple volumes of the manga, but I can say that the novel provides the most thrilling adventure out of all of them. I felt the movies were a joke because I did not feel the solemness the novel holds. As far as the manga, it did the novel justice, but still it cannot compare to the brilliance of the novel. Battle Royale was definitely a genius product. I don't know how many times I'd have to 100% recommend this novel to you, especially if you've read Lord of the Flies, which many of you had to read, I'm assuming, in high school. When you get a chance, pick up this book.
