STORY: 4/10
Your typical, semi-abusive yaoi romance manga. Nothing original about the story whatsoever, with no redeeming qualities. I was honestly disappointed, I love bar themed romance... It always seems like an interesting concept. This was just poorly executed. And don't get me wrong, I like borderline yandere's as much as the next guy, but the lack of originality in the plot and the stereotypical interactions ruin any potential this might have had.
ART: 5/10
It was fine. Nothing exciting, nothing unappealing.
CHARACTER: 3/10
The characters were shallow, underdeveloped, and their motivations seemed silly as hell. I didn't understand their chemistry whatsoever - presumably because there was none! Very
...
disappointing. This was the manga's weakest point.
ENJOYMENT: 3.5/10
Did not enjoy this, and I do not recommend it. Don't waste your time.

ATTENTION: OTAKUS OF ALL TYPES, THIS IS THE ROMCOM YOU'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR!!
This is definitely a slice of life/romcom manga... if you're looking for a linear plot, this probably isn't for you. But if you don't mind somewhat random scenarios, and you're somewhat of an otaku, I highly recommend this manga.
Story: 7.5
I would give the story a better rating, but I'm only 19 chapters in (currently caught up). It's definitely slice of life, but it remains relevant to the previous chapters, as well as remaining relevant to everyday life, AS WELL as being a story with a full cast of otakus. It's entertaining, it's hilarious,
...
it's sweet, it's cringy, and it's a perfect balance of all of the above.
Art: 7
I think that the art is good. It's simple, clean, angular, and nice to look at. Nothing particularly intricate or detailed, but I enjoy it. Especially in comedic scenes!
Character: 8
I love each and every character involved in this manga. There are four main characters, and for each one you are provided with a satisfying amount of character development and description. They're all hilarious in their own way; I enjoy the simple complexity of their character makeups'.
Enjoyment: 8.5
I thoroughly enjoy reading this series. Like I said, all otakus and lovers of good romcoms should check this out.
Overall: 8.5

I wanted so badly to enjoy this manga. Such an interesting and original concept, such beautiful artwork, and a yandere-ish, mysterious male lead to boot - it had so much potential.
Story: 6
The ONLY reason I gave this manga's story a 6/10 is because of the originality and potential of the concept. The pacing of this manga is awful, and this is one of the main reasons that I struggled to finish it. I've never read anything like it before, and that automatically meant that I considered it a 3/10. Top it off with one point for my general (but infinitesimal) enjoyment of the story and
...
one point from sheer generosity, and there you have it.
Art: 9ish/10
The art was gorgeous! There were times when I could tell that the mangaka had been feeling a bit rushed, or perhaps a bit tired of drawing, but this didn't bother me at all. Other than that, expressions and emotions were well executed, and plenty of detail was provided. This manga was pretty, if nothing else.
Character: 4/10
This is where the manga reeeally lost my attention. The characters are shallow, two-dimensional, and seemed silly. Don't get me wrong, there certainly were interesting aspects of the main and main supports, BUT with no character development, it all fell flat.
Enjoyment: 5/10
As I said, I really wanted to like this manga. I'm disappointed because this sort of thing is right up my alley, yet I had to literally drag myself through the last half of it.
Overall: 5/10
See above. I have nothing else to say. :c

Being a relatively new manga, I'll be basing this review off of the currently released chapters. I've never reviewed a series so soon after the original release, that's how good this manga is.
Story: 9/10
I'd honestly like to give it a higher score... but because I'm only going off of the few chapters that have been released, I have to give the story a 9 for now. The story is EXTREMELY original, well-paced, with just the right amounts of darkness and lightheartedness. I'll just be reading along, and all of the sudden, my stomach balls up, turns over, and shrivels with tension and real fear. Best
...
part?... only takes one turn of a page to do it.
Art: 10/friggin10
Jaw dropping. Magnificent. Bubbly, rounded and soft at all the right times (with all the right characters), yet sharp, angular, and intensely disturbing just when you're not (quite) expecting it. Detailed backgrounds and characters provide for an wonderfully immersive experience.
Character: 8.5/10
Like with the story line, I can only give this an 8.5 for now because I'm waiting on further character development. But for me to be so invested in and attached to these characters with so few chapters released... doesn't happen often for me. Happens rarely, in fact. Each character is complex and interesting in their own way. They bring out of you real affection, suspicion, and intrigue... as well as the dark rumblings of a fear you don't yet fully understand.
Enjoyment/Overall: 9.5/10
Read everything I've written above ^
And then read this manga. You won't be sorry.

Overall, Horimiya very quickly and very easily made its way into my top 5 favorite romance manga's/anime's; and that's saying something, because I've been on somewhat of a romance-binge for the past two years.
I'm VERY particular about my romance (many aspects of reading or watching romance annoy me to no end, so I end up dropping a lot of what I start), so I hope you take that into consideration when I say that this manga has an arsenal of badassery going for it.
I will say, before I continue, that this manga is relatively simple. It has some complexity in certain areas, but not much.
...
It's very straightforward. This generally bugs me about romance manga, but the mangaka and artust did such an excellent job of tying it all together.
Story: 8.5/10
The ONLY reason I didn't give it a 9 is because it's an extended version of Slice of Life. And believe me, there is nothing wrong with that. I enjoy SOL. But this certainly isn't a day-to-day, or even week-to-week breakdown of what's happening in the lives of these 7+ very interesting and complex characters. The story line is super good, and a strong point, but not THE strongest point. They did an excellent job of adding enjoyment to something so simple.
Art: 10/10
Hooo-ly shi*. Such precision, so many gorgeous angles... I loved how seamlessly the art during comedic moments flowed into the serious ones.
Character: 9/10
Every character, from the anti-hero (esque) to the main leads to the support, were so lovable. Again, very straightforward but great.
READ IT!!
