{ Story }
The premise for this story is very interesting and stands out from similar shows. We follow our main protagonist, Rock, as he is thrust into the criminal underworld after being abandoned by his company. He becomes a member of the smuggler, transporter, pirate crew known as the Lagoon Company. The story follows the many adventures of this unique crew. The story had me hooked right away within the first few episodes and I couldn't wait to watch the next.
{ Art }
The art and animation for this show are quite good. The fight scenes are well animated and in general, the
...
show just looks really good.
{ Sound }
I don't really have too much to comment on for the sound. As far as sound effects go, I thought that they were well done. I'm not sure if voice acting would fall under this category but both the sub and dub versions of the anime are very good. Black Lagoons dub is by far the best dub of any anime that I have ever heard.
{ Characters }
The characters are what really sets this show apart and make it a step above your typical action anime. Every character is unique with their own rich back story. The interactions between Rock, Revy, Dutch and Benny are well done and funny at times. Balalaika may be one of the best-written characters I have come across. All the main characters, side characters, and villains are fantastic.
{ Enjoyment }
I usually tend to not watch shows that are more focused on action. The show however is an exception to that. I genuinely enjoyed this show from start to finish. It has a second and third season as well so it has a decent amount of episodes to watch. I would definitely recommend reading the manga if you are craving more than just what was in the show. It is a very good adaptation of the source material and follows it very closely.
