Ok so I am started watching this anime based on some info I found online about this being an Isekai anime that isn't about from zero to hero at summon time but more of a slow burner and the journey to become stronger.
While I am not a stranger to Isekai anime as I have seen a bunch of them like SAO, Mushoku Tensei, etc, etc, I have thought I could give this a try.
Seeing the trailer on Netflix looking pretty nice with the art and all, I just jumped in.
The first episode didn't quite catch me so left it for a few weeks but after
...
finishing some other anime, I thought I would jump back in.
And I am very VERY glad I did.
I am a sucker for anything that gives you the chance to explore the world.
Find out more about how everything works together with the characters.
Take Mushoku Tensei as example. The MC doesn't know anything of the world and you learn together with him everything works.
This show does a lot of that as well, though it must be said that just 12 episodes is of course not enough to go full deep dive.
I do however think that the show does a really good job setting up everything and give you the explanations you need when things happen.
The characters are, to me at least, not your run of the mill tropes.
Sure there is some of it in there but nothing to overly done. Sometimes you get the mega super awesome happy girl together with the super intelligent bad ass leader guy and the completely ignored silent girl/guy that does a finisher to every now and then to show he/she is still there.
The characters all have their own way of doing things and to me stand out on their own exactly as much as you should expect.
The show to me is about a group of kids thrown into a fantasy world and basically are discarded.
They are not the smartest or strongest guys and really have to struggle to keep food on their plates and a roof over their heads every day.
The development and hardship of having to hunt and therefor battle monsters is really well executed for a show of just 12 episodes.
Though I think would have liked to see like a 26 episode long season, I also understand that would probably drag the show in such a way that it would become boring really fast.
Story: 8
Like I said, the story is not the "group is summoned with all special OP skills and go kill the demon king". Rather this is "group is summoned and have to fend for themselves".
Which I enjoy a lot. It gives a lot of room for character development and world building. The world is set up nicely and really gives a sense of reality with the way the streets look narrow and the bars full.
Like people really live there. And all the military guys there are there as well, giving you the sense that there is a lot of stuff in the city that you don't get to see.
Which is not a bad thing at all, as the focus of the show is the group of kids trying to survive and not trying to learn about the world.
Art: 9
This is something of a special anime on the art side of things.
everything looks painted and the way the animations and backdrops blend is done really well.
There are certain parts of the show where there is hardly any movement on screen while the MC narrates some things that happened or his thoughts.
Those amazingly drawn backdrops look gorgeous and you can really appreciate the time that went into creating that style.
Sound: 9
The music is create and the special FX sound great too.
Nothing to complain and I am looking for a lot of tracks that are played in the anime to be added to my YTM playlist.
Characters: 8
The show is mainly group focused with a small part of Character development, which for some might not work as well as it does for me.
Because of the 12 episode run time you can develop the characters as much as the group or vice versa and with a cast of around 6 people. you probably get what I mean.
But even with that said, I really cared for the characters and really was sad for the times sad things happened.
They way they directed some of the shots where, during sad moments, the camera would just stand still and aimed at the group while nothing happens and just music plays, makes for a welcome change for a moment where usually things roll by pretty fast.
Enjoyment: 8
At the moment of writing, 8 episodes in, I am really enjoying the emotional rollercoaster the characters go through.
They way they band together, the struggles they have and how they are towards each other in times of desperation are well done.
And it sounds so weird to say I enjoyed their pain but I do enjoy the story telling a lot.
Overall: 8
Really liking it overall.
The characters are really nice and grow throughout.
The music is great and the OST is something to listen to in your spare time.
The art is so stylish and gorgeous.
For people who like fantasy stories and want a more slow paced series that shows more of the progression from nothing to something good, this is definitely something to watch

Ok so I give this anime an 8 overall.
Even though the story, art and sound are nothing to really write home about.
Why?
Because this anime knows what it is trying to be and goes for it.
If you are searching for a serious Shield Hero-ish anime, you should put this anime on watch list for later.
If you are searching for an anime that isn't taking itself serious at all, makes jokes all the time, and you just want to have a big laugh, than pick this up.
Story: 6
Story so far isn't anything special.
...
Just the general -> demon lord threatens the world -> go kill
But there is hardly any mention about it during the show so far.
They just go from place to place and go through some of the crazy adventures.
Art: 7
The art can be just as wacky as the things happening in the series.
But all in all it is just a good quality and nothing to really complain about at all.
Sound: 7
I find the intro and outro really funny tracks.
But the rest is just normal
Character: 9
The characters will, by some, be classified as annoying.
By others it will be fun.
To me, the characters in the anime is are a lot of fun.
After B gata, H Kei and Full Metal Panic Fumofu, it has been a long time since I laughed as hard as this show.
So if you are in for wacky jokes all the way, go check it out.
What is also fun, is that the characters know of the game elements they have like skills and stats.
There are also status effects that show above their heads which makes for some hilarious moments
Enjoyment: 10
Like I said, I have been laughing so hard about so much.
Things are predictable sometimes but it all fits well in the anime.
Just sit back and have fun, cause you certainly will
Overall: 8
As said, the story, art and sound are nothing special.
But the way the show doesn't take itself serious and how the characters interact int he most crazy ways.
Especially around Tachibana things can get crazy at times which causes some great moments in the show.
Be sure to give this a shot, it is definitely worth it.

This Review is a continuation of the first season review so go check that out if you want to see what I said there:
https://myanimelist.net/reviews.php?id=436022
This second part of the the Mushoku Tensei Rudeus journey was one of the most intriguing stories I have seen in a while.
Some say this is the pinnacle if Isekai and I think I can't agree more.
This season follows Rudeus further along his journey while massive changes from the first season have happened.
Rudeus is transported to a different part of the world by a magic calamity.
He awakes in a desert together with a Superd, who he was always told to fear and
...
run away from.
Next to him is Eris, who he tried to protect during the calamity.
The thing that this season really did right and at the perfect moment, is throwing our playful and a bit cocky Rudeus, into the demon country together with Eris, who he establishes a starting relationship with.
The Rudeus that always tried to peak under skirts, take underwear or tried to get in bed with Eris suddenly has to protect Eris. This throws him for a lot of challenges because he needs to way his own Otaku pervy side into consideration if he wants to keep the relationship with his friends.
This season is all about Rudeus having to come to terms with the fact that you can't always keep playing around and that certain decisions can have big consequences now or in the long term.
When you finish this season I would highly recommend searching youtube for terms like "how strong rudeus really is" and "rudeus and Eris"
There will be some info there that will explain what happened mentally during the story in the heads of Rudeus and Eris.
Which is way more then what you just see and is spoken.
Story: 10
The story doesn't joke around, it shows you straight up how harsh the world can be when dropped in the middle of nowhere and without any knowledge of the place.
It shows the harsh reality of trying to make due with what you have and to live to die another day.
The story here is mostly about 3 things.
1- teaching you about the world
2- Eris vs Rudeus
3- Rudeus vs Eris
2 and 3 are meant as mental things. How Eris sees Rudeus and vice versa.
This makes the seasons conclusion even more heartbreaking, but I won't spoil anything.
Art: 9
They cleaned up some things from season 1 and it locations where they are look amazing.
The series really sells the idea of the world and the people in it. After finishing the series I couldn't stop thinking about all the lore there is and how well the locations are treated.
Sound: 10
Fights, ambiance, cities. They all feel great and full.
They did a good job on the sound side of things.
characters:
Well how much more do I need to say about things.
The character development in this season is massive. The way Eris grows and becomes an adult. The way Rudeus grows and has to come to terms with making decisions that come with consiquences.
The other side Characters that get enough love and depth to understand what is going on and why they are who they are.
It is a really well balanced anime that I would not have want to miss.
Enjoyment: 10
This season again mixes some really fun things to laugh at with some very serious subjects.
Slavery, human trafficking but also friendship, love and kinship.
Some of the best moments in the series are when things go horribly wrong, or when things are just chill and not much is happening.
The gaps between slow and chaos can be a bit long at times but it does that because it doesn't want to force action in to places it doesn't belong.
The new characters introduced are really great as well and one thing I love about all, is that they don't cheat their way to finding people.
During the season people are searching for each other and sometimes get within a few meters of each other but miss completely.
Normally something would happen that they would find each other anyways but not here. Which I like for a change, even if I wanted them to find each other.
Overall: 10
this is definitely gone way to the top of the best 4 anime I have seen in my life.
It fits easily in between animes like Death Note, FMA Brotherhood, and others.
Of course there is still the controversy surrounding the main character Rudeus, which I can understand somewhat but also don't after this season.
But I leave that up to you to decide.
To me the anime in total is amazing and after reading the manga to the latest chapter, I am looking forward to how they are going to go about this.
the story after the anime ends is certainly ..... interesting , to say the least.

So you are looking through the reviews?
Well if this is one of the first you see, get ready for a slaughterhouse of reviews.
There are basically 2 camps for this anime.
The first is people saying this is a child molesting , rape-ish, sexual and what not, kind of anime.
There are so many terms people will use to describe this anime and shoot it down to its very core.
Then there is the second camp that look into the characters more and their situations. They try to place themselves in a similar situation and ask "what would I have done" or "could I understand why character X is
...
doing this".
These will, in general, have a good reviews on the series.
For me, I am part of the second camp.
First a small synopsis.
The story in season 1 is mainly aimed at the way a guy of 40 is bullied beyond believe (like being tied naked to the school entrance fence and slapped and kicked) and basically shutting himself off from society.
Just playing ero games at home without any friends, he has no experience with what you can and cannot do in society.
He doesn't trust anyone anymore after overhearing lots of talks about him from his room and doesn't even go to his parents funeral.
That pisses off his brothers and family who kick him out of his room onto the street. Now homeless he sees a girl in a bad situation, as a truck is coming in for the kill.
The guy thinks about it and does 1 final good deed and pushes away the girl but than gets hit himself and later dies in the hospital.
Sounds innocent enough up till now.
He is then reincarnated in a fantasy world where he decided that he will try to make the best of this second chance.
In this second chance, you follow Rudeus Greyrat as he is born to the first time he can use magic and beyond.
Still not worried ? Well here it comes.
What would you do, if you never felt any love from your parents or family for that matter, never had a experience with girls other then ero games and hentai magazines, no social skills to speak off and you suddenly got a second chance at life.
Well sure you would probably make the best of your second try. But then mom comes in and puts a boob in your face.
Yes what now? Or what if you are 10 years old and you get a really cute tutor who teaches you magic. would you try to catch glimpse of here undressing? (remeber you are a 40 year old mind in the body of a 10 year old)
This is probably the part many feel weird about.
And though I can understand why, I also feel that is the thing the author of the manga and the creators of the anime did well including it in the story.
Rudeus Greyrat is basically a 40 year old trying do all kinds of stuff he can get away with as a child.
Witch again isn't surprising for a guy who lives as described earlier.
Don't get me wrong though, trying to undress a girl while she sleeps or taking the panties of someone and using it as something holy is ...... weird.
But the guy as a 40 year old was weird. he is just living out some otaku fantasies he has.
You can decide yourself if you can understand or detest that behavior.
And better yet if you detest it, does it still make for a believable character or do you suddenly hate the anime for it?
Story: 9
To me the story of a guy with a messed up life being reincarnated and having a second chance was really nice.
it is not unique but I believe but it certainly was well done.
You see Rudeus grow up, meet a friend, go through some tough times and see him beat his trauma's from his past life.
The world he now lives is very vast and very full of lore. They even went as far as to give all kinds of races, different languages and have a complete family tree of the Greyrat family.
The lore is really extensive and you can really feel a real world around Rudeus.
Also, this is one of the little anime's I have seen that explain magic and where it comes from and how it is used.
Art: 8
The art is really good.
I love how the magic looks when cast and the way the landscapes look.
The animation is really nice as well.
The characters look really nice as well and the outfits make every character stand apart from each other.
Sound: 7
Music is nice and a bit above the normal.
Sound effects are good as well.
Character: 9
All the characters in the anime are great. They all have their own personality and even their own lore. There is one character that comes from a beast tribe that lives somewhere else.
there is a whole backstory about that 1 character that you don't get to see until season 2. The main Character Rudeus has a really good written story and transformation as well as the story goes on.
Some are of course based on certain tropes but to be honest they are not over used or don't fit the scene/anime. There weren't any characters that were out of place in my eyes.
Enjoyment: 9
If you are able to look past some parts where the anime can be a bit cringy with responses by the MC or side characters, you will definitely stay in the story and keep going from episode to episopde.
The enjoyment for me especially comes from the growth that Rudeus has throughout. The way he goes from an infant who grins when mommy feeds him to the being in tears when his mentor leaves after he finishes his magic lessons and really appreciates the people around him.
Overall: 9
As said there are some things that happen every now and than where I think "did you have to do this?" but those are not much and mostly predictable.
Rudeus is a very well written character no matter if you can look past what I discussed before or not.
The growth Rudeus has throughout the series is really amazing to follow and makes you understand more of his traumas from his past life and how hard some things are for him to change.
The other characters all have their own stories and it is really cool to see not just Rudeus having to deal with hardship but the other characters as well.
There is a lot going on in the series and you really have to stay alert to all things dropping as many hints will come back later in season 2. If you read the manga you even know there is more coming back.
The really big step happens with season 2 where Rudeus is really confronted with the world and how his behavior can upset the balance and turn friends into enemies.

Ok, So this is one of my first reviews of an anime.
And reading all the other reviews on this anime made me do this review to point out some parts that others just don't want to see.
First off the plot of this anime is basically nothing more then a reincarnated Demon Lord going to a school to prove that he is, in fact, THE demon lord that died 2000 years ago.
I won't spoil more cause I think this anime is pretty neatly put together to keep you interested.
Secondly, one of the things I often to almost always miss in a lot of reviews by people
...
here on MAL is that not every anime has to have a massive story or every single character should be unique or interesting.
This series doesn't take itself too seriously but it also twists the normal way how this world works.
In fact the normal BAD GUY demons and GOOD GUY humans is turn completely on its head, which was a very nice surprise.
I started watching this anime thinking it would be the normal demons VS Humans but it never became that.
Better yet it even showed a world where Demons are just as kind, hateful as humans can be. They show us a world where demons just want to live a normal life and don't even want war with humans.
This was made even more clear when the main character, Demon lord Anos Voldigoad keeps trying to tell people how the world really works.
For sure this anime is not for people looking for a deeply intriguing story, well developed characters, plot twists of massive proportions or even deep lore.
But the anime is fun, a lot of fun. Sure the main character is OP and basically nothing will be able to kill him. Nobody surprises him with anything and he can teleport everywhere he wants (if his has been there) and block any magic. But his OP-ness is amusing. He doesn't overuse it to for the sake of it. He uses it when to make a point. The way he does it even makes for some awesome moments that you can see from miles away. You can even predict some of the things he will be doing.
Story: 7
The story is nothing massive but to me it was a nice twist to see the demons not being the bad guys for once. Better yet, they are the good guys in this story.
The reason I give this story a 7, is because, even if some parts feel to fast, the story feels nice and fun. Anos will always win and when a conflict starts you are more or less wondering what he will be doing to his opponent.
This goes throughout the story and I had some really good laughs throughout.
Art: 6
nothing special but not bad either.
Just the normal 13 episode short story you would expect.
I don't care much for animation in general and can enjoy a story even if the animation is just normal.
And that is coming from someone who had to keep his jaw in place after watching the final battles in the season 3 of Demon Slayer. (you know what I mean if you seen them)
Sound:6
This as well is just normal.
nothing really to mention.
Characters: 8
I like the characters a lot. There are a lot of regular tropes but that doesn't bother me as the anime is over the top already.
The characters mix well with the story and their responses to an overpowered MC are pretty funny. There are also some really nice relationships between characters that I won't spoil but feel genuine. I found them really well done for such a short anime.
The MC is really funny in my opinion. He is the demon lord reincarnated but cares for his mom and dad but also the people who trust in him and/or believe his is the 2000 year old demon lord.
And like I said earlier, I expected a bad guy MC who wanted to destroy everything. But early on in the story you already get to know him for not being bad at all.
Enjoyment: 9
There are some really predictable things in there but that doesn't take the joy away.
Small Spoiler to prove a point.
At one point Anos has to watch a fight happening under water in a lake. He than sees what is going on and after a big los he challenges some people to a fight.
They tell hem if he is afraid of water he should drain the lake. If you guessed he would drain the lake in an instant than you were correct. And he does it in a big way that left me laughing, just because it was just so OP and predictable but exactly the thing the Anos would do.
Everything is just so OP that I was just sitting here, watching a guy be arrogant to Anos and thinking "Go get him, show him who the real demon lord is!" with a grin on my face knowing someone was about to get owned for life.
Overall: 9
I have watched a lot of anime in my time.
Some really serious, others really funny and the quick burners that you rush through just to fill some time.
This was definitely the later one, but it surprised me with the amount of fun I had with it.
Some anime I can just do different stuff while putting on an episode. This was not one of those.
Just make it short: if you want a quick and fun anime that doesn't make you rethink everything you have watched after the final episode, this is for you.
If you want to watch an anime that with an OP main characters that is not just blasting away for the heck of it and actually is a cool dude, this is worth the watch.
As said, don't expect a masterpiece, but great anime don't always have to be a masterpiece.
Just having fun and a good laugh is enough for me to grand this anime a nice comfortable 7.

For as far as i've seen this series i must say that i'm suprised.
I did'nt thought it it would be so good.
As i've seen many people say that it is a code geas clone, i thought it would be bad.
Look at the big code gease that i love.
How coulde a serie that looks an awefull lot like it be as good.
But it does a pretty amazing job so far.
Story:
The story is a little generic BUT it is a good story.
...
Why fix something that is'nt broken.
There is not much more i can say about it but ' keep up the good work '
Art:
The look and feel of the anime is very good in my opinion.
Im someone that wants to look at the anime and get that WOW affect.
Although its hard for anime to get that with me i kept comparing it with code geas and it is just fine like this.
Collors are good en the details are pretty good.
Sound:
In my opinion the sound is like every other great anime serie.
good quality with good and clear voices.
Chacracter:
Characters are in good ballance. and yeah there i go again, in code gease there where the main characters that stuck out...wellll.... almost everywhere.
Thats not the case here.
The characters are alike, meaning the all have something special.
And thats why the main character just sticks out less then you wouild think.
Owke the only person is the main girl but he every serie got to have a chick.
Enjoyment:
Well there is nothing to say here. its a joy to watch and it keeps making you want more. Although i cant say i had many cliffhangers but you want to know the story more and thats what i look for in an anime.
---- a anime that keeps from turning away-----
Overall:
This is a very good anime with a lot of good stuff still to come.
Although it is , like said before, sort of a clone form code geas, it does a great job making me want to see the next episode.
I hope the grammer does'nt bother you guys to much.
Hope this was helpfull.
Regards

in advance I'll warn you for type errors because English isn't my best language
To start of i agree with a lot of people here who wrote a review that it is very cruel and that there is a lot of blood.
When you watch the first 10 min of this serie many will stick with it or drop it.
But my experience is that without the blood and violence it would not have the same feeling to it.
STORY
- Story is in my opinion the best story I have ever seen.
It has some twists and turns and with other characters joining it all fits
...
together
perfectly.
There is just nothing I could say as minor point.
ART
- The art in the anime is a little different then usual.
I don't know how to put it in to words but i think the closest would be that its
more colourful.
They creators also put much attention in the scenery and that doesn't
happen often as far as I have seen anime.
SOUND
- The sound is something that i think sticks out.
The intro song is just to beautiful to put in to words.
Every time i hear it, it gives my goosebumps.
For the voice actors i must say that they sound really convincing, as it
should be.
CHARACTERS
- The characters are not that different from other anime but they do look like
the person you would expect to do the things they do.(There are some
cases that they don't but that would be a bit of a spoiler.)
in any case for people starting to watch anime ...
... This will sound strange....
... I would not watch this anime until later.
When you have seen this serie any other serie you watch would not be as good as it would have been when watched befor elfen lied.
but if you still want to watch go ahead and be blown away by this "Masterpiece" of anime.

As far as i have seen this show i must say that i am impressed for what they have done with it.
i have read the manga a chapter or 2 but they stick with it pretty much.
Also this serie is a lot of fun to watch because of the typical man to woman transformation and the guy not knowing witch way to turn.
The art is nicely done and is a little better in my eyes than other anime i have seen.
The voice acting is a little wierd but you'll get used to it very quickly.
The Characters are not really acting like you would
...
think they would but that's nice for the twists and turns in the upcoming episodes (I hope).
All in All i have high hopes for this serie although it is a little short.
But as far as i have seen it now and laughed my ass of at some moments i really think this anime is worth watching.
lets hope for the best.
