Initial D First Stage

Prince of Tennis and Initial D, at times, feel almost like the same story except one is about tennis while the other is about driving/racing. Both main characters are young "geniuses" in their respective areas due to being trained unknowingly for years by their legendary fathers. Both Echizen and Takumi didn't have much "love" for their sport in the beginning but ended up really growing up as characters. They both also include a large cast, with various teams they encounter and need to defeat, etc. The pacing and anticipation for each battle/game are also quite similar. If you enjoy one, chances are you'll enjoy the other as well.

The premise of both stories are similar in that the heroine is dating someone popular but also unsure about the exact status of their relationship due to the fact that the guy isn't all that nice to her and doesn't treat her like a girlfriend even though he actually does care about her. Both are short simple reads of the same type of storyline.

Akuma de Sourou

Both have the same core idea of characters being thrown together and circumstances that arise in the same living quarters due to parents remarrying. Marmalade Boy is more crackish though (likely because of the set of parents), while Akuma de Sourou is more realistic in just about all aspects, including the type of drama that the series is subjected to.

Itazura na Kiss

Both of these anime have heroines who try very hard to get the boy they like to return their feelings, no matter how many obstacles they come across. Additionally, both of these anime went beyond and delved further into the situations and problems that creep up as a couple (though Itazura na Kiss went on much further along in their relationship). As is typical with most shoujo, there's a dose of drama along the way- though what these two anime have in common is the fact that these dramas aren't dragged out. They get resolved rather fast and there's a similar sense of warmth that both series give off. Both are light-hearted, with a nice balance between comedy, drama, and general sweetness in their romance.
