Busou Shoujo Machiavellianism in other term, THE SCHOOL OF FEMINISM.
This show is more like a empowerment for women against all guys.
This show is like a Hardcore feminism where women can actually hurt any man. But what I like about this show is that it contradicts the prejudice of every women. That not all men are enemies, and not all men are pervents. The story isn't that marvelous, but it gives justice to every man in the school. If you are a man, you'll gonna root for the Main male character, but if you are a women, you'll be triggered because it's like they're protraying that despite how strong women are, women are fragile with their feelings, and they need the D afterall. If you know what I mean.

Not bad.
Let me just remind you that this is not a Yaoi or Shounen-Ai anime. So be at ease, there's no Yuri on Ice vibe on this.
This show might not be the best this season, but it is still good. Unlike other average shows out there, you easily get bored, but this is different from the rest of average shows. This show is fun, and I know you'll get fond of it.
This show is about a mysterious Short Royal Tutor who got recommended by the king.

the future king. Each prince has its own individual character and story. That's why Heine did lot of adjustments just to be accepted as their official tutor. The story is basically about the innocence of four princes.
The character development of this show is likable. You'll grow fond of everyone's character. Since the characters are still teenagers, you'll probably encounter some childish attitudes. But it fits them perfectly since this is not your typical Prince show where the prince has a very mature attitude and thinking. And this is what makes the show fun to watch due to the innocence of everyone.
The story is fun, it's not boring. It anticipates me waiting every episodes to come out weekly. I just want to watch and have fun, and this show fits perfectly in this category. No drama, No horror, No actions, jusf a calm comedy.
If you are hesitant about this show, if you already watched Sakamoto Desu ga?, then you'll probably like this show. It has the same vibes.
Overall my rate would be 7.5. To put it simple this is your average anime, but you just love watching it. It never bores you.

How should put this.... The story was just simple but has a very DEEP MEANING. The entire time, I was just smiling and laughing. The story was so ASIAN. You know... not your Disney thing of coming of age. I don't know if Westerners and European viewers would find this as Exagerrated and find this stupid... Just so you know, As an Asian, though am not a Japanese, ..... tales, superstitions, and myths is very common in asian Countries. You know what? I laugh so hard because the film is just pretty realistic, I laugh because I realized how stupid I was during my highschool

days. This film just nailed on how are we before. I love how the story was delivered in a very simple way. What a lovely and heart warming story. It's simple but it's deep.
It started with Alice being a transferee and then she came to a School where her classroom had a story. She became the center of attraction due to the story of her desk, and then I just realized that I was already hooked along with the story. WHAT IS THE REAL STORY OF HER DESK?! Then suddenly, I was already in a friendship story, to discovery, to the truth and to the reality, How fragile human feeling is. You can't move on if you don't know the truth, and you can't move unless you accept the reality. Or else you'll suffer and live with a stagnant life. You must also know when you are suffering, you might don't know, somebody out there is also suffering because of your sufferings. Watch your actions, or you might cause sufferings to others without your realizations. What an EYE OPENER film.
Regarding its animation, I find it more like a Live action than an Anime. It's not weird, but it's really good.
Overall, I enjoyed this film a lot. Very simple but worth watching.

If am I going to rate this show, would be better to rate the whole Criteria. Because some users did just rate because they are satisfied with the MUSIC, ART, & SOUND. Yeah, we all know that in these category they hit on the highest caliber. Long story short it's SUPERB, even a one episode could put stars on your eyes. That's why no need to emphasize the details, you'll know when you start watching it. But what about the Story & Character developments? Here we go. Lets break it down.
Story: 7/10 (*Too low* that would be the first thing you'll say about my

Why? Well lets start with PROS.
The 60% of the story was a well done. All though the story was cliché the story they want to deliver was enjoyable, it sometimes goes to the point that will make you realized that they have a point, the sayings & quotation was perfect it delivers the deep meaning of music. but I can't say the story was perfect. Why o why? Well then lets start with the CONS.
If you are going to look at the very details, you'll see the "MELODRAMATIC" side of this show. What is Melodramatic? "Characteristic of melodrama, especially in being exaggerated or overemotional." I know and you knew that you noticed that too, but sometimes you just tend to ignore that sometimes. But sometimes it goes to the point when it hit on your nerves. *irked* lets say "WORLD PROBLEM award goes to "Shigatsu wa kimi no Uso" I don't know what to say but the story rather show the problems it's like 85% are problems & depressment, 10% for music & 5% are happy moments. It's overly unbalanced. Also you noticed this too, all they say are almost quotations & sayings. What's worst is it doesn't fit on the characters. (*Oh come'on it fits at all* I know you'd say that. But let me emphasize why it doesn't fit on the characters.
The age. They are just too young to think about love like that. Even you, at the age of 14, did you act & think the way how the characters are? Positively not. Because at that age, we are still at the early stage of love, we are still confused in our feelings. But how this show could manage to put a 14 years old kid to act and think like an adult? It's pretty UNREALISTIC. What's worse is that they are using the flashbacks when they are still a kid at around 4 upto 8 but the way they diliver it's like the kids already realized what they are talking and act about. but If only the put the characters more quite older, I would say that it would be perfect and fit to its character.
Second, their sayings are almost like quotes. What makes it bad is that they are overusing too much magical words in it. *IRKED* It's irritating sometimes. Would you even think or say "REACH HIM/HER" or say "The star is so beautiful it's like the bla bla bla...in our performance" or say other magical words to a person. In real life it's like you're are retard saying magical things. People around you would say that you're sick of saying that.
Talking about the characters.
I would rate 6/10
Why o why...?
Characters are being burdened with TOO MUCH PROBLEMS. They are exaggerating small matters to big deal. Especially the sister who admire his brother too much and thinks of him as her heroes, while his brother admires another person which is a male who also thinks that this person as his hero. Sister-brother complex? Bromance?
Talking about the Characters way back to its childhood days, WOW, I'm amazed. They are acting like a kid, but also thinks like an adult.
Now, you would probably say "HOW DARE YOU TO SAY ALL THESE THING? YOU'RE SO CLOSE MINDED."
Let me answer you, have you watched NODAME CANTABILE & SAKAMICHI NO APOLLON? Both of these show are Musical show. Now, compare the maturedness of Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso to these 2 shows, and watch how the 14 years old beat the characters of Nodame & Sakamichi. Shigatsu isn't a Masterpiece of Musical Animes, No. But Nodame Cantabile & Sakamichi no Apollon was way better. That's why I begged to disagree on most of the reviews of

This anime is not an ordinary or Cliché Sports anime. To tell you the truth, despite having a low score and bad picture displayed, I know you know what I mean you really wondered why too. But if you watch this anime It's too far from your expectation.
To put it simple for the overall about Baby Steps, it is one of the best, or a Masterpiece in Sports genre in Anime and a MASTERPIECE IN TENNIS. I'm not exaggerating, I'm telling the truth. If you are a fan or Realistic or sports anime then you'll probably love this show.

good, sound is good, enjoyment is pretty good, Realistic story is pretty damn good. Yeah, you will wondered why, why you can't stop watching every episode.
That's because it's realistic, unlike other Sports anime that you will wondered why they are already a good player and even already good player in just short period of time. But this, it took him year or probably years of Training and playing to become a good player. This is not a Magic sports anime that you know that why he/she has that Ultra Sonic Power Attack. You wouldn't even get bored unlike other sports anime, it's like you will get addicted to it.
The romance is also slow and you would expect that romance will come out soon, it's like how we deal our love life in real life. Love life is not just a magic to pop up in your front instantly, it also the same way about this anime.
By watching this, it is like a TENNIS 101 with an enjoyment it really gives you an idea how the tennis works, how the player works, and how a player felt during the game. It gives you a knowledge that Tennis is based in Physically, mentally, sociology, psychologically, etc. This is what the anime is made for, is to make you appreciate the Tennis in realistic way.
I would say that this anime will never disappoint you nor will betray your enjoyment.
