Dandadan (Anime) add
This show is absolutely wonderful - the character writing is great, the action is kinetic and fun, and the absolute insanity of the plot is always entertaining.
Ken and Ayase's friendship/love was legitimately really cute and touching, and while I wasn't the biggest fan of some of the supporting characters, Ken and Ayase always kept things grounded (as grounded as this show can be). Episode 7 is a massive highlight, as I'm sure everyone watching agrees.
But that ending... yeah, I don't know, ending your season midway through a story arc was NOT it.
But I will be eagerly awaiting the second season.

Y'all, they did it - they managed to adapt Automata in a narratively satisfying manner. I am stunned to be honest.
I don't want to go into the details, but the ways they change events around make them hit so much harder than they would have, if they just adapted the game beat-for-beat.
I would still recommend playing the game first, as the things they change really work having already known the original - but I can imagine anime-only watchers still being plenty engaged and shocked throughout.
I was spoiled on the ending, which took me a bit out of the experience at the very end, but ...

Ranking how to feel about an adaptation is always going to be a bit tricky, especially when that adaptation is of one of your favourite pieces of media in general of all time. NieR Automata (and NieR as whole) means a lot to me, so I might be a bit biased when I say this, but I really enjoyed this show! It's definitely at its weakest when it just tries to emulate the game as precisely as possible - the first episode is a great example of this, mimicking everything right down to using the game's cutscenes as overlay and reference material for certain shots.

Where ...

Heavenly Delusion works at its absolute best as a mystery show - the mysteries it lays out and how it gradually answers them plus how it asks new questions for the audience is legitimately super gripping and kept me engaged the whole way through.
The show also manages to strike a perfect balance in tone, where both calm, fun scenes pair perfectly with the more dark stuff, some of which was actually really surprising and hit exactly the way it was supposed to.

I found Maru and Haruko a really likeable main-character duo - they're both kind of ditsy, but Haruko's headstrong attitude and Maru's genuine personality ...

Mixed Feelings
The concept is fantastic as ice skating is a sport that isn't nearly explored enough in media. However, I feel like the execution could have been much better - the characters weren't nearly interesting enough to carry the emotional weight that the series wishes of the viewer. A few scenes work REALLY well and some of the ice skating is absolutely gorgeous, you can almost feel the air stand still. But most of the series just doesn't live up to the standard set up by those few scenes.
I was also disappointed, although not surprised, by the non-relationship between Yuri and Victor; BL relationships aren't expected ...
