When one watches Paprika, I must warn it is not an anime for newcomers. Those of you who know Satoshi Kon films will know they are masterpieces but can creep out other people's minds. Paprika is no exception. The story is based on terroism and dreams and reality becoming one and a doctor who has an alter-ego that helps patients known as Paprika. The animation is breath-taking, so many times in the film for example when Paprika is falling from the sky, you'll wish you were in her shoes. You'll envy the dream worlds conjured up. The sound is very addictive, if you don't like
...
sound-tracks getting stuck in your head, Paprika is a potential to cause it. The opening theme is amazing, no arguments there. The characters are very distinguishable and memorable. The only part of Paprika which doesn't make it recommended to everyone- is that purely, many parts of the film contains disturbing scenes. However, aren't dreams actually like that sometimes. It's a very good attempt by Satoshi Kon. The enjoyment of the film is very good, however there will be times when your mouth will be left open especially in the finale. Overall, a 9 due to great story, concept, art, music and characters. The dub is very good, with proper voice actors instead of newbies. Worth definitely watching, however don't say I didn't warn you if you get disturbed.

Cardcaptor Sakura is made by CLAMP arguabley one of the best known manga authors in the world. Cardcaptor Sakura is one of the gems of their work, the series in anime form is better than the manga in the respect of many cards and new characters being added in making the series a hit. The story is about a girl called Sakura who opens a book and scatters dangerous cards and has to capture them due to a beast falling asleep known as Kero. There's comedy, romance, random scenes and you can't adm it but say the magic scenes are truly magical. The story's first
...
half is based on capturing the cards and the second half is on transforming them into sakuar cards as they need another source of energy. The art is great as expected being made by Madhouse with CLAMP fully involved, the sound may be a bit classical but still great, the characters and costumes are so memorable and have caused many fanclubs on MAL showing just how popular they are. The enjoyment of it is 9 overall. There are also two films of the series worth absolutely watching. If you've seen Tsubasa and loved it, you'll enjoy this. You'll laugh, cry, you'll want to watch it again. Cardcaptor Sakura will always be a recommended classic that anime fans will love and treasure again and again.

If you have not tried Jigoku Shoujo or as it is known in America, UK and Australia "Hell Girl", then all I can say is that you're missing out. Hell Girl is a very unique anime , each episode of the series focuses on another character going through a tough time before they turn to the legendary girl everyone is whispering about. Of course there's a price and even that doesn't stop the protagonist. The story's weakness is that it's very repetitve which doesn't rock everyone's boat as most of the time the protagonist will pull the string off the doll. However, the story gets
...
more intense when a detective and his daughter is involved to try to stop people contacting Hell Girl. There are surprises in this series, times when the audience is fooled that the ending might be a happy one. The art is brilliant. The character designs are amazing, especially of Ai and her assistants. The scenes of the Eternal Twilight world are beautiful. The sound is addictive, it's very hard not to resist the soundtrack after hearing some of the music from this series especially Snow's Opening Theme "Sakasama No Chou".The characters were very well thought out, even though the main character send people to Hell you can't help loving them. Most of the time you enjoy it unless again it's not your thing. Hell Girl is also a good series for discussing and bringing up the issues of bullying, stalking, murder, blackmail, slander, adultery, lying etc... The ending of the series was brilliant and I really can't say anything as to why because you have to watch it. Overall, an unmissable series.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children- where to begin? Many fans of the final fantasy series found the Spirits Within film released in 2001 a dissapointment overall with hardly any connection to the games. The case with this film is completely the opposite. Fans of Final Fantasy VII or the the series itself have to watch this film even Kingdom Hearts fans as they will see familair faces. The film focuses 2 years after the events of Final Fantasy VII the video game. The plot focuses on Cloud the protagonist fighting with a rise of villians and the hardest battle, himself as he believes that he
...
is alone and is guilty about his past, lost friends. The film appeals to fans and newcomers to the game series as well as people who just happened to pick it up, the music combines with instruments and there are some classic tunes to put a smile on the Final Fantasy VII fans out there. The characters all make a cameo apperance and have a battle, characters that are new and old enemies. I have shown this film to many people and the one thing they always admire in this film is the artwork and graphics. If there is one thing that will attract people to watch it, it is its timeless and classical graphic work that makes it look so delicous like a PS3 game. After 5 years fans had finally recieved a clasic monument in the Final Fantasy series and non- final fantasy fans who eitheir weren't into the video games now knew what the fuss was about. The only weak point of the story is the character development. However with all the positive factors of this film you can miss it. It will also appeal to the whole family as there is a message in the film about love, family and friendship. My favourite scene in the film is when Tifa fights against Loz to protect Marylene. The scene contains cool matrix scenes and unbelievable fighting moves. This film is combines, cute characters, evil villians, fights, hate, flowers flying in the air and water curing children. It will always be a Final Fantasy gem forever and ever and will always be recommened again and again.
