I recommend reading this if you are deciding on whether or not to watch this anime.
I'm gonna say straight up that this is not worth watching just by itself. This anime doesn't present any normal or acceptable storyline that would have any significant meaning. It is basically just a trailer for you to read the light novel.
Still, I have to admit, the idea presented here is kind of intriguing: the middle schoolers of an unknown school are armed and decide to protect some kind of cube that decides the fate of Japan. They are now hunted or rather pulled into war with some other
...
unknown soldiers, who seek to obtain this sort of 'cube'.
This 'anime' or rather trailer for the light novel has decent animation, good choice of music and good sound quality, yet lacks a conclusive storyline or multidimensional characters.
If you are intrigued by the idea of middle schoolers having a war with some 'evil guys', potential for some romantic development (that's the hint I got from these few episodes, though I haven't read the light novel) and a mysterious story, then go ahead and read the light novel cause you'll probably like it. I haven't read it, but it seemed intriguing, this by itself though can't be counted as a 'watchable anime'.
Thank you for reading!

Edgy, cringe and funny - this is the mixed bag that you will find in the anime that is Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!.
I was ready, once again, to watch my seasonal isekai trash to keep up with that side of anime. But then everything changed - this isekai was unhealthy doses edgier than a regular isekai.
No, seriously. This is one of, if not the edgiest anime I've ever had to lay my eyes on, along with Tokyo Ghoul and some others. Anyways, how does the edginess play a part here? You will be cringing on the edge of your seat every episode, crying
...
from the second-hand embarrassment and perhaps even laughing? No, you will definitely be laughing as you recognize how dumb this plot is.
No matter how much people will shit on this anime because let's be honest, they are on to something, we cannot look over the insane entertainment value it offers. I just can't stand idle and let enjoyable series be named as average trash for them to just bury under the hunderds of actual average trash, which will make the future generations of anime fans miss this little gem of cringe.
It was portrayed as a parody which it half-succeeded in being. It did manage to stand-out from the others by kind of making over the top jokes of itself. However, in many occasions it seemed as it was actually introducing isekai tropes like it needed to, not because they were making fun of them. So, as a parody, they weren't the most successful, but made it work enough to stand out, I guess?
The sound design is great, OST-s are around average, art is surprisingly and consistently good, characters are not special, but they bring the cringefest' of a story together.
Final point being, you will definitely enjoy this as long as you are not looking for great writing, but maybe something to cure your anime burnout. Stay safe!

Ultimately, I don't regret reading Domestic na Kanojo. After all, it was the joy of reading it and getting to see the spicy events unfold each chapter that made it possible to read it until the end. It was never boring to read, art was superb and until some certain chapters, it even felt like a masterpiece as it made me skip sleep to find out what happened next. But it all came crashing down in the chapters nearing the end, when absurd things started happening.
The choice of the ending itself was the one thing that made sense, in my opinion, to most readers, however,
...
the execution of it was bloody awful. The story made a 720° backflip, spinning in every direction, unsure where to head next. It was pretty clear that the author herself was unsure of her own decisions as she made WILD changes in every chapter right at the lattermost part. The ending can only be described as a dog who was suffering from excruciating pain and who should have been put down to end its sufferings, but instead was slowly tortured to death. The dog was still 'freed' from the pain, but at what cost?
I have to mention that I don't usually let an ending affect my opinion of the whole story, but why craft something amazing only to shit on it in the end? We'll never know.
In conclusion, Domestic na Kanojo is a spicy show which will most likely make you hate it after reading it, but until then, your heart is warm, your brain constantly puzzled and cringing inside, with a hard dick of course, while waiting to see what happens next. This is what made me sleep only 4.5 hours for a week and will probably make you too if you have lack of self-control like me.

Edit 1: Wording.
This review does not contain exact spoliers, but you can predict the plot based on my conclusions.
Jumping right into the question of whether or not you'll even be able to enjoy this or whether you'll want to watch this, it ultimately boils down to one main reason. The reason being your culture: if you come from a society that frowns upon the relationships between adults or minors, you're unlikely to find this watchable.
However if you can continue to swim forward, look past the age differences of the main characters and start watching this show, it probably still isn't worth your time.
The characteristic
...
features of the show's mains is one of the things I found quite enjoyable: romance revolves around a cool guy in his twenties that sleeps around and a shy undecisive highschool girl. The people used in this situation in other anime are usually just regular highschoolers or adults with no differentiating qualities to their name.
The plot though is as basic as they get: from the moment they met, Ryo (the dude) tries to pursuade Ichika (the girl) into dating him. That's not completely wrong, no, but it just got very tiring to me and eventually burned itself out.
The personalities of the main characters were ordinary and annoying, sometimes being unable to decide or just expressing questionable behaviour. To add, the characters actually got a background that wasn't important at all to the main focus of this anime, it seemed as they were just mere decorations to the characters. To bring an example (this shouldn't spoil anything): Ryo actually had some disputes with his father about his lifestyle, yet it didn't even matter at all or even conclude in any way. This act of adding useless information for the viewer just clogs up his/her memory and is just pointless.
The worst being the supporting characters maybe except for one (Ryo's little sister), who actually played a proper role in progressing their relationship. As for all the others, they hardly contributed and, the more the show went on, the more they were forgotten.
*MINOR SPOILER*
Now the thing that you were looking for when you came here, romance, is actually present in this work, but in a mediocre condition. Ryo and Ichika are most of the time the focus of action, yet the progress is so slow and literally depends on only Ichika's indecisiveness. The romance is merely visible at all during the first half and slowly only starts to appear later.
Still I can appreciate the whole balance of the flow, the chill vibe the show gives and the effort that went in. I wish the ending was less rushed and that they would have spent more time on a clear and conclusive ending to this story.
In conclusion the show has few enjoyable keypoints, but didn't excel at anything and it will not be remembered for it's content, but perhaps for its age related topics.
