Josee, The Tiger and The Fish. A Movie made well by the one and only Studio Bones. A movie which made such an impact on me that I cried so many times while watching it and I actually thought about writing a review after so long(lol). The movie was done so beautifully that it was nothing less than awe-inspiring.
The movie was quite not what I expected it be, but just like always “Studio Bones” went for that extra mile and gave me something which was clearly something that I never expected in my wildest dreams, but still better than my vivid imagination. Bones is
...
known for many famous anime series like FMAB, Kekkai Sensen, Bungou Stray Dogs, etc., but as you might think these are all generally action series so I was quite interested when Bones announced an Original Movie and which was also a slice of life, josei, romance genre. But I’ve gotta hand it to Bones because this movie was on par with “Kyoto Animation” slice of life anime, actually even better than some of them(in my opinion). When talking about Bones I have to say my favourite is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. But seems like Bones also just produced my favourite anime movie.
About the animation, it was so good that I didn’t know I’d be this much intrigued by it, in my personal opinion it was quite on par with the famous movies “Your Name”, “Weathering with you”, etc., because just like these mentioned movies, “Josee, The Tiger and the Fish” also had the animation which seemed so much like the real life world ,no the movie was not 3D, it was 2D, kind of similar to the movies mentioned above yet still so different from them. I was so just so much in awe while watching this movie that I actually thought “This is the easily the best animated slice of life movie I’ve ever watched”.
The directory of this movie was so on the point that it captured the beauty of the story, the animation, the personality of the characters, with the music syncing perfectly to it, that it was nothing less than a solid 10/10 for me. I have recently gotten myself into some film-making and I act as the assistant director of our team and of course I’m inspired mostly from slice of life anime, but this movie’s direction was literally perfect for me. It captured the scenes from where they needed to captured, and with the finished product it looked like such a masterpiece. I really loved the direction of this movie and now I think I’ll research and watch some more of the director’s movies, because I’m really curious about his other works and his upcoming works.
Now then, the movie was not only pretty colors, beautiful animation, and really cool directory, the story of the movie was also very interesting and the overall story writing was also pretty neat. This movie touched me so much on a personal level that it I cried multiple times while watching it and the animation just added some more tears to my eyes. It was also refreshing to some romance between some adults instead of teens in high school like always, it’s not like I hate high school romcom but this movie was a nice change. The story writing through-out the whole movie was also pretty impressive, the way they portrayed the story in the runtime of just 98 minutes was pretty awesome if you ask me personally and of course they had to animate the till the last second considering they had to show the entire plot in the movie.
The characters of this movie were not especially cool, awesome, or badass or anything like that, but let me tell you one thing. They seemed like actual human beings, and that’s something I really enjoy about slice of life, that the characters seem so real that you actually end up wondering some times “Is this based off real life?”, of course no-one is this good in the real life, but characters like these, which seem so real, actually motivate me to be try to be as much of a good person like them. I consider Kumiko to be the Protagonist of this movie personally, because we don’t have that many series or movies about lame people and it was a nice change to see one in a movie, what I really liked about Kumiko was that she wasn’t the usual hard, dense, character neither was she the crybaby ,wimpy character. She was the most strong character in the movie mentally yet emotionally sometimes like a child and sometimes like a proper adult. That is also what I love about human beings and characters like Kumiko or Tsuneo because you can’t always pinpoint on what they are thinking or what they are feelings, and in order to convey their thoughts, their feelings, they need to take action with their physical body, whether that action is done by the mouth or their hands/feet or some other organ, but in order to express their thoughts they need to take action because if that is not done, they feel alone and are left empty inside with just them and their thoughts and their feelings. I won’t go into spoilers but Kumiko was my favorite character through out the whole movie because of her actions and her personality. Tsueno was a proper good male lead for a movie like this. He had a proper dream from the start of the movie, and just like a good character he made sure to work for that goal, yes sure there are times when all seems lost and we think of throwing away our dream. Yes sure, there are less ups and more downs in life. Tsueno experienced all of that, yet still because of Kumiko he got the motivation he needed to strive forward towards that dream of his and ended up achieving it. I’ll not spoil but I genuinely loved the ending of the movie. The other characters were also well-written ,my favorite was especially the grandma, at first I thought she was going to be a stereotypical ,karen type old hag, but guess what? Bones did a pulled a 180 on that too, and made her the best and the coolest character of the series. Yes indeed, everyone has their flaws, there maybe moments of her which you didn’t probably like, but I think that’s what defines humans the best. Instead of our flaws, we still try our best everyday to be a good person, and to be a better person than we were yesterday. Overall, I think the all the characters were really good and very well-written.
Now for the final aspect of the movie which I’d love to talk about, and that is the “Music”. To be honest, I only watched this movie because “E ve” sang 2 songs for the movie, which were a banger of course. I personally, like the songs like “Dramaturgy”, “As you like it”, “Tokyo Ghetto”, etc which are faster than the songs E ve sang in this movie, but still the songs E ve sang for this movie are one of my favorites now mostly because E ve is simply too good that literally any genre suits him. The other OSTs were also very good and synced so well with the movie.
Considering all of these aspects I earlier mentioned, I’ll give the movie "Josee, The Tiger and The Fish” a solid 10/10 score, because of how well it was made, how well it portrayed the theme of the movie, and how well it was done as a movie. Everything has flaws, nothing is perfect in this world or even close to it, so saying that giving a 10/10 score to only the perfect stuff is kind of hypocrital to me. For me I’ll give a 10/10 to only the stuff which I enjoy and I find no problem with. This movie had flaws like everything else in this world, but it was still one of the best things I’ve ever watched and it gave me one of my best anime movie watching experience. I still think that this movie kind of underrated and I would highly recommend it to you. I hope you also love this movie as much as I did. PEACE!

"Clannad", either if you have watched it or not, I'm pretty sure that if you are a part of the anime community, then atleast you've heard of this anime. Now this review of mine will only be covering the second season of Clannad, AKA "Clannad Afterstory". So I recently rewatched the second season of clannad(Clannad Afterstory), and yes I confirmed it that it's still a masterpiece after so many years. While I don't remember much of season1, but I'm definitely sure that s2 left a big mark of memory for everyone. I won't be touching any spoilers in this review, so if you haven't watched
...
the anime you can still get a general idea of what clannad is after reading this review.
Well then, here's my review of Clannad Afterstory:-
So first of all, I'll try to critique some points and then later on I'll give my opinions on it and my overall review. So first let's start from the shortcomings of this anime.
ANIMATION:-
Now while some people like me may love the animation of clannad still to this day and think of it as really asthetic, but due to many new people entering the anime community and many new anime studios opening up, I think it's safe to say that clannad did not stand the tests of time. Now while some of us(including me) may love the animation and the artstyle of it, I think we should accept that it's artstyle even back then when it was released, was pretty generic, and comparing it to some of the modern big names in SoL anime, while clannad may be far above many others, but I think the animation and artstyle didn't stand the tests of times. Now even tho I wanna give it a 9 cuz in my opinion it was really great but I think I'll have to compromise on this one and I'll have to give it an 8 here.
MUSIC AND OSTS:-
So now that we have the only shortcoming of clannad out of the way, let's start from where it begins for clannad to be a masterpiece. Now the music and osts of clannad can only be described in one word "Beautiful". Cuz at first it may seem to be your standard osts, music and ops and endings, but when you watch the anime, the same music fits the anime so much that it just makes it even more beautiful. The thing I love about them are that, even tho it's been really long for some of us that have watched clannad, but when we do listen to the theme songs or osts sometimes in a while, we get the same feeling we got back then when were watching the anime. In terms of music, I will say that yes, it did age well. So I'll give this part of anime, a Solid 9!
VOICE ACTING:-
Now just as music and every other thing is important for a good anime, I and many others think that Voice Acting plays a major role in an anime in being good and bad. It doesn't subtracts or adds some extra numbers, but it's about the enjoyment of the show. If the voice acting of the show is good and real, then it gives the characters more room too, for us to understand the characters better,it makes the character actually seem real! Now I won't be going on about how important voice acting is cuz that topic is for another day. For now I'll give my opinions on the voice acting of clannad. Now at first the voice acting of it may seem like your usual SoL voice acting, but when you get to watch more and more of this show, you realize that voice acting in this show is actually really good. The voice acting makes us realize what kind of Character Okazaki is, what kind of character nagisa is, and don't get me started on how good the voice acting of ushio was❤️(May God bless her soul and always keep her safe and happy). So my general score for voice acting in this show is 9, cuz it was really really great.
CHARACTERS:-
Now if there's one thing you can't hate about Clannad, that in my opinion would be the characters of this show. The character writing in this show was just outstanding. At first they may seem like your typical SoL Characters, but as you get to read them, you realize that how much well written they are. For example, Okazaki's Character in my opinion is one of the best written MC in SoL anime (some examples of other good MCs in SoL are natsume from natsume yuujinchou and kiriyama rei from 3-gatsu no lion). Now the thing about these characters is that they actually seem real instead of some other high school anime MC. The thing that makes these characters the most real for me is that they don't bitch about life, even tho they had life way worse than many others, they understand others too and understand that they are not the only one suffering, and the way these characters do it, seems so real. Now I wanna talk about other characters too, like nagisa, that how much character development she had and she still had that character trait in her, from which we get to know that yes, she's getting better and better. But even tho she's changing, she's getting better and better, she's still Nagisa. But ig if I talk too much, that'll just make me want to give some spoilers lol, so ig I'll stop for today. And now, considering all the characters in this show, the way they were written, and the way they were portrayed and used in the show. I'll give it a 10/10.
PLOT:-
The plot of clannad, the part for which many people love it and many hate it. Now at first when I watched it years ago I couldn't understand why there are haters of this show, but now that I rewatched it, I get why there are haters of this show, and that's mainly because of the plot of the show, while many people like me love it, many hate it too. The reason of that if I mention here, will be stepping past the spoiler barrier that I set around myself, so I'll not say it. But I'll still talk about how well written it is. As I mentioned earlier that this review is only about the second season of clannad, this season is where everything starts to thicken, and some mysteries that were yet to be unravelled in first season, are revealed and we get to know how beautiful they are. At first all of the characters in clannad may seem kind of bland but when you get to know more and more about them, you realize that yes, they are really really well written. Even tho they had to face hardships and suffering in life, they call still get over it with their hard work and willpower, and without even bitching about it. Now note here that sharing your problems with other people is good and it may sometimes help you get over some stuff, and that is also what clannad portrayed beautifully. But by no means it showed any character bitching about stuff, as I said earlier I won't give spoilers. Well sorry I strayed off the topic for a while there, now back to business. The plot of clannad which really sticks out the most in anime community is that in many other SoL shows, the series most likely ends after getting together but clannad took that one step further. That's why it says afterstory in the title. And the way clannad showed some of the hardships of marriage, child birth, and some other things too, was just really really well done. I Just can't get over the fact that even after so many years of it being released, Kyoto Animation did such a good job on this anime that it's priceless even now. So for the plot of this anime, I'll give it a solid 10/10,cuz goddamn it was a masterpiece.
ENJOYMENT:-
Now the thing is that no matter how good a show is terms of some critical aspects, if you don't enjoy the show, then it was all for nothing, so for the enjoyment part of the show I'll give it another 10/10 here cuz I really really enjoyed watching it. While there were some cringe or cliche moments in it, I can't lie when I say that I actually enjoyed them. Even tho I watched this show after a long time, I still enjoyed it and loved it.
OVERALL:-
Now as for the overall part of this show, I'll give it a 10/10 here, cuz even tho there were some shortcomings about it, KYOANI did a great job of getting over them and presenting us one of their best work. There were some mishaps but on the grand scale, it didn't matter much ig. So once again I'll give it a 10/10. And yes I highly recommend this anime to everyone out there.
And in the end there's one line from Alec Benjamin which sticks out the most for me after watching clannad, and that's "The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad"

"Life" however short this word may seem, this word has more meaning than anything in this world. This word only consists of 4 letters but the vastness it holds is close to infinite.
This manga named as "Sankarea" I just read, had only 56.5 chapter(.5 means a special chapter). But the aspects it portrayed were done beautifully by the author. It started with a simple plot which was that a high school boy was obsessed with zombies and tries to revive his dead cat for the sake of his obsession with zombies, however after we get to read more of it we see dope plot twists,
...
mysteries being revealed which were really well explained and wholesome romance of both protagonists, and ofc, how can I forget about the too good action and gore scene? There where two things I absolute loved about this manga and one of them was the artstyle, it was simple and decent and at the same time, it was just awe-inspiring. How the author choreographed the panels and the action scenes was the reason y I loved it so much. The second thing was the female protagonist, I wanna write about her too but that'll be more of a summary rather than a review so I'd like you to read the manga yourself to find out about her. The plot of the manga was pretty simple in the starting but after 3-4 chapters it took a turn and just after that it became too good. The thing I or maybe some other people too, or u might learn too, was that life is different for everyone. Why do artists just talk about their life in their art and it still feels new to us? Cuz life is short just as a word, otherwise its a very big thing, we can't just comprehend it into some limited words. There are lives of others creatures too, like animals for instance, or if we talk about more fantasty, then every zombie, Dracula, vampire, alien, etc. they all have their own lives, and if we take that into consideration, it's near to infine the amount of words it'll take to explain the simple word"Life". But we shouldn't just get caught into the fact that we need to comprehend this"Life" the best possible way, how about we just try live our lives like we want to? Not caring about anyone else, doing things we actually find pleasure in, following our dreams, passion. We can do that too instead of just being persistent, sometimes we need to let loose of the past and just go with the flow not caring about where this road will take u, it'll not be a waste if that's really your dream, cuz ya'know why? "The time that you enjoy, isn't a waste of time"
Another simple and yet a very real matter this manga showed, was that just cuz a person is from a good family, has good grades and doesn't talk about his problems, doesn't mean that the person doesn't have problems at all! Everyone has different reasons to worry about and stress about to, we shouldn't just judge a person by saying foolish things like, "That person is from a rich family so why will he have problems?" That's just immature.
The ending of the manga, instead of giving spoilers I'll just say that I cried at the last chapter and it left a mystery for ourselves to reveal ourselves. It was an absolute masterpiece which I absolutely loved and just in three hours I came to realize that I finished it xD.

Living in this world we meet a lot of ppl, some of them are those who we like while some are we don't. Some of them are ppl we want to stay forever with and some of them are that we just want to get rid of them somehow. "Fate" is a just a word and an abstract noun for some of us,but for some, it's not. For some,Fate is the thing which made them who they are today and fate also decided the ppl they get to be with today. This manga portrayed the word"Fate" and how it can affect others life. In this
...
manga,we see the life of a simple high school boy named "Usa" who wants to have a mediocre life and in that mediocre life he wants to spend time with a beautiful girlfriend. Now,in the first chapter, we see that, cuz of "Fate". He sees his ideal girlfriend reading a book in library. It was love at first sight for him. After that we find,he has a to live in a boarding place, known as"The kawaii complex". At first he thinks that it's a pretty nice place, but soon after he learns that his roommate is a weird person. He thinks of leaving the place but the next thing he gets to know is that the girl he saw in the library also lives there. After our manga starts and in these 94chapters we also get to know other admirable characters who are introduced later in this series, with whom we can relate somehow. In the manga,we read from the perspective of the Male MC which is not very often in shoujo Manga. The Male MC is a nice, loving, caring but sometimes awkward person who has some weird fetishes but still a respectable person. For the female MC,in the start, she's shown as a loner who's only interest is reading. As we get to read the manga,we get to know about their life in the kawaii complex and the problems they face as a couple and as the whole kawaii complex family. The best thing I liked about it was that,it wasn't cliche type, like other typical Romance manga, the events were those that someone like me who reads shoujo and Romance manga, couldn't have expected xD. It was a really nice, heartwarming, wholesome read. I didn't get bored for a single chapter and binged it even tho I'm having exams rn xD. Also, there wasn't a single kiss(they didn't show it) till the end of the chapter(in their college life). I'd recommend it to u even if u r new to romance, shoujo or even if u have read them before cuz ik that it'll be a thing for u. The plot and the characters may seem typical at first but as we get to read the manga,we get to know about them, their personalities and other problems. Tho it was a pure SoL but still it was pure fantasty, I dunno much about the author but I think this story wasn't reality based. So yea, u should expect some things we get to see in every romance manga but still, I'm sure this'll be quite an unexpected and a new thing for u to read.
