It’s sad that the only mystery show of the year turned out to be a bit over the top and full of philosophy that most of the time seemed to be nonsensical. The Perfect Insider always played with weird philosophy, but it at least acknowledged that such philosophy was weird. The problem started right at the end of the show, just after the main mysteries (a little bit farfetched) were solved.
It also didn’t help that the anime presented main characters that were a bit annoying as well. Souhei felt to be the know-it-all of the show, the one that knew everything about the world and
...
life, and a person who used such “knowledge” to make his own philosophy. Moe was a cocky little girl who just wanted to be noticed by her sensei. And Magata, well, we know about her at the end of the show, so there wasn’t so many problems with her. However, the first two grew with time, as well as their relationship, which turned out to be the best part of the show, and the best part of the finale. Aa Souhei was the main “detective”, he dropped his philosophical persona to be the one who explained the problems to us, something that helped him a lot to be more likeable. Moe grew a lot as well. Although she didn’t give up her love for her sensei, she stopped wanting to impress Souhei and tried to be an equal to him. And thanks to her backstory, we could understand why she was a bit obsessed with her.
The mystery per se was understandable at the beginning, with some shocking twists right at the beginning of the anime, to great back story at the middle of it, with compelling development for Magata as well. But just by the end of the show, it went some way that didn’t quite worked out for me.
The production values were nice. Animation and art were very interesting, especially during moments where our heroes enter a machine which materialized their thoughts, showing us some surreal and beautiful sceneries. The music was good as well, especially during the revelations and twists moments. The OP and the ED were really entertaining, being the former the one that stood out to me (watching our protagonists dancing is really amazing, especially Magata, who performs a ballet-like choreography which is simply beautiful).
Overall, the show was entertaining and would be a nice gateway for newcomers to anime. Our main heroes grew up a lot during the 11 episodes. However, the mystery took twists that were too ridiculous, and the presence of almost nonsensical philosophy ruined everything by the end. Not the best, but not the worst thing ever.

Taizai greatness! This is the second time I’ve watched the show this year: once subbed and once dubbed into Spanish (thanks Netflix). I enjoyed it from the very beginning, and now that there’s a new season (or maybe a remake) coming in 2016, I just can’t wait for more of my favorite shounen. The problem is, however, how this first season ends. While the anime was almost faithful to the manga (some details all along the series were taken off during the adaptation, but it wasn’t terrible), the problem comes at the last 5 minutes, something that is indeed bad, and can put in problems
...
the development our characters (especially Gowther) get in the following 20 chapters. But first, I’ll talk briefly about the anime.
(Skip to the next paragraph if you just want to read my thoughts on the ending and the new Taizai series)
Taizai the anime is a well done adaptation that can leave anyone with satisfaction once they’ve finished. If you're looking for some fun without caring about missing information and some deus ex machina plot twists, then this is the show for you. The animation is average for A-1 pictures standards, and if you’re picky, you’re going to watch lots of off-model characters. But is nothing that will ruin the experience for you. The music is good enough to make the action scenes more compelling, and the OPs EDs are pleasant enough to watch them every time at the beginning and end of the show.
It isn’t a good stand-alone show, though, as it leave major plot holes opened by the time it ends. It’s not a problem of the writers, nor of the original creator, Nakaba Suzuki. The problem was how quick A-1 got the rights to adapt the manga. Adapting 102 episodes and finish at a point where nothing is resolved and without the certainty of a second season is dangerous for the quality if the show, and it is worst when it’s finished with an anime original conclusion.
The problem is that, as I said before, it leaves a possible 2nd season (not confirmed as of today) in a very difficult point, mostly because of the anime original ending. Major development for Gowther and very good details for the story, like the Balor’s eye or the introduction of the Pleiades knights, come right after the end of the Hendrickson arc. So the scriptwriters are in for a very good challenge if a 2nd season is indeed confirmed. In order to connect the ending of the 1st season with how the story goes in the manga without losing such important information, the most logical thing would be remake the second part of the last episode.
Although it is less likely, a remake of the complete show is another possibility, but it would be a lost of time and money in something that was, for the most time, well done and without any major flaw. And frankly, watching everything again would be boring for a lot of people as it hasn't passed much time since this anime ended.
To sum up, Taizai the anime is a great show for people who just want to have some mindless fun and don’t want to analyze every single detail of it. For or those who don’t plan to read the manga and don’t like plot holes and deux ex machinas, the show may be a lost of time. But for manga readers like me, the ending might be underwhelming and might put in danger information presented right after the last animated arc of the manga if a second season is confirmed.
So the recommendation of this show will totally depend on the tolerance of the possible viewer. To me, this show was a treat from beginning to end, and I can’t wait to see how the writers would manage to solve this big problem.

Mirai-hen is out now, and I watched it. The result? Well, it could've been better.
It is impossible to say anything about the story because the first thing you watch is a major plot twist about the end of the anime series, and everything goes around that twist. A minor hint, though: the movie is full of Akihito and Mirai tears.
My problem with the anime series was its drama, and how it wanted to force you to feel sad or be sympathetic with its characters. That problem continues in this movie. As the movie takes itself seriously, the drama I really didn't like is everywhere.
...
I didn't grow emotionally attached to these characters, so for me the drama presented here is just there and nothing else. And the worst part is that what made the anime so enjoyable for me, i.e. the slice-of-life, comedy moments between the characters, just got in the way of that drama, making them out of place and very uncomfortable (or in the words of Mirai, fuyukai desu).
One of the reasons why the comedy didn't work was the background music. The OST was made to make you feel sad, and basically the same sad violin song is played all along the movie: during the emotional parts, during the lighhearted parts, during the battles, during everywhere! Seriously, it is impossible to laugh at how Mirai fails to hit a tennis ball if funeral music is being played in the background. The ED song was good though. Minori Chihara has an amazing and beautiful voice, and the song is really connected to the events of the movie.
The characters also got some mild development. Even though the characterization is attached to the emotional parts of the movie, it at least answer (in a way) very good questions posed by the anime series: how Mirai got her ring, information about her mother, some mild explanation about Akihito's mother. Hiroomi continues being awesome and keeps a bit of his main character quirks. Unfortunately, Akihito and Mirai spent most of the movie crying and suffering, and we didn't get to see a lot of what made them really likeable in the series (although that is supposed to happen, given the main plot of the movie), and Mitsuki continues to be the useless, Senjougahara wannabe I've got to know.
There is little to say about the animation and art, only that it was, once again, absolutely gorgeous. Is Kyoto Animation, what can you expect?
Although I didn't hate the movie, I didn't get to enjoy it that much. It suffers from lots of the flaws of the anime series, and neither the character development, nor the amazing animation, nor Hiroomi being the best character of the series could save the movie for me.
HOWEVER, if you happen to be reeeeeeally attached to the characters, especially to Akihito and Mirai, and if you liked the drama of the anime series, then this movie would most likely be a 10/10 for you.

Shimoneta is a clever show behind all the dick jokes and sexual innuendo that it presents during its 12 episodes. It is basically a dick-slap at censorship laws. It's a show that glorifies obscenities, sexual jokes, and that being liberal and being able to watch whatever you want is OK. And it is right!
However, its story could've been better done. It's divided in two different arcs. The first episodes are more for establishing the characters, what the SOX "perosisuto" organization wants, and the "main antagonists" in the figure of the government who has established the censorship/moral control laws. However the second part includes. However, most
...
of the second part is about another organization, which has different ideas than SOX. And this is the part that wasn't good at all. I mean, it still enjoyed of the jokes that are the essence of the series, but they continuously fall flat and really, the main antagonist was really a hit or miss to me.
The animation and art, on the other hand... I still cannot believe that this series was one of the best animated anime of the season. Bright colors and different character designs are everywhere, and the animation presented during more active scenes was top-notch, fluid, and beautiful. In the sound department, however, there's nothing to talk about. The only thing good that can be considered as entertaining and memorable is the ending.
However, where the show really shines is in the characters. Not that they have been fully developed and one can relate to any of them, but because they are likeable and funny as HEEEEEELL. Ayame is the heart of the anime, as she's the leader of SOX and the one that is constantly making dick jokes that are most of the time fun, and one cannot forget her speech at the 11th episode, it was sincerely the best part of the show. Tanukichi shined when he had to do all the dirty job of SOX, and more especially when he was assaulted by Anna (claps for Tanukichi's VA). And that leaves us with Anna-senpai. She starts as the role model of the government laws, and the pure president of the student council. But after the 3rd or 4th episode she changed drastically, becoming the best character of the show and maybe the best character of 2015. Her frenetic rampages and over-the-top strength was simply hilarious, and the direction really help to make her shine everytime goes crazy (Love nectar cookies were one of the most disgusting, yet hilarious scenes of the show). Otome, Kosuri, Goriki, Hyoka, and to a lesser extent sensitive-chan complete the package of outstanding characters.
Once Shimoneta started airing, I thought, judging by the title, that it was going to be full of stupid fan-service, boob shots, and dick jokes that I was going to drop after the 3rd episode. I have never been so wrong in my life. There is incredibly no stupid fan-service (when there is, it is ironically censored with chibi figures of our main characters), that is reserved for the "terrorist attacks" of SOX, boob shots were almost eliminated, and the dick jokes were 90 % on point and fun.
I believe that once it is released in BD/DVD, we'll get the show with almost none censorship, and I would be the first one to pre-order the show if FUNImation decides to dub this one, as Shimoneta needs it immediately! So if you want to have some fun with sexual jokes and over-the-top characters, don't waste any more time and enter FUNImation to start watching it!

OMG! Madoka. This series was my gateway to the anime community. This anime totally changed my mind about this industry. This anime made me watch lots of shows that have entertained me more than all the TV sitcoms and cartoons that I have seen in my entire life.
This movie is one example of how entertaining anime is. The animation, the music, the characters, the FREAKING PLOT TWISTS! Every single element of this movie was compelling and amazing.}
Starting with the setting. If you've watched Madoka Magica then you know that this isn't a common Magical Girl show. Therefore, you know that this anime is really dark
...
and complex. However, this one have a particular twist right in the beginning: What if all our girls were indeed a group of regular magical girls who fight the regular monster that attack the world? Well, it is weird, but at the same time compelling. One of the things that I thought about right after the ending of the series was how this series would look if it were just a Magical Girl show? The result was awesome: it was cute, it was entertaining, and the battles had beautiful animation and art (Thanks Shinbo/Shaft). Everything was cute and perfect for our girls... until we realise that this series isn't a regular magical girl show.
We know that this show is dark, we know that nothing is perfect in this show, we know that the characters are messed up in their own ways. And Homura knows this, too. She knows something is fishy about that world where she is leaving in the movie. And once she starts to suspect about what the hell is going on, things start to happen: Beautifully animated fights between the girls, intelligent twists and motivations, and one of the greatest villains of the last decade starts to unveil its master plan.
Oh great! I thought. Our girls will beat the bad guy, save our heroine in distress, and be happy forever. However, someone had a different idea.
(SPOILER OF THE ORIGINAL SERIES AND MOVIE AHEAD)
-----
Homura had another idea. She did want to save the day, but she did it Homura-style. She wanted to be happy, but it would be impossible, because she loves someone, or at least that's what she thinks. Her obsession over Madoka will destroy everything that has been established during the ending of the original series. This brain-melting left my jaw open during the last 30 minutes of the movie, because it was something that nobody expected. It was dark, evil, crazy, totally unexpected... IT WAS AMAZING!
-----
(SPOILERS END)
This particular plot twist changed my mind about Homura. She wasn't anymore the tragic heroine that we saw in the original series. Now she has turned into a crazy, selfish girl who just thought she had the best idea to make everyone (i.e. Homura Only) happy. It was brilliant and absolutely dark at the same time. A thing like that made her one of the best characters I've ever seen.
This movie was a wild ride to me. From the beginning until the last second, my mind was blown away by the animation and sound, by the writing, by the twists, by the characters, and especially, by Homura. This movie, however, is not for everyone, and if you didn't like the final twist, then your experience with this series will be destroyed. That's why I recommend this film especially to the ones that like the original series, but didn't quite like the ending of it.

As a KyoAni show, Kyoukai no Kanata or Beyond the boundary was a strange show to me. Usually they can pull together a show were slice of life and character drama works amazing, such as Clannad or its recent Sound! Euphonium. However, this is a particular case in which the drama didn't feel in the right place.
My main problem with the series was that I couldn't take it seriously. It tried to be dramatic, it tried to pull some heartstrings, but almost none of it didn't work. Why? Because it felt rushed sometimes and mostly because it was for the most part a Slice of
...
Life show. The best moments of the show were when the characters were having fun and weren't taking things seriously. Even the fights were packed with jokes and funny interactions between the protagonists, especially the fight with the bulb/fruit youmu, which gave us hilarious scenes of Mirai in cute outfit and the complete cast as an Idol group.
But although I had a lot of fun watching them, the second weak point of the show must be the characters. Mirai was the one who gets most of the development and the best of them all. She is great as a moe character and as heroine. Although at first she had problems due to her past, you can feel how she grows as a character all along the series. Akihito starts off good as well, but doesn't get the development needed to fully comprehend him, and although I didn't have any problems with it, his fetish may turn away some people. The same can be say from Hiromi. His powers are amazing (I particularly liked it when he made shields), but his Sister Complex can be annoying for some. This lead us to the worst character of the show: his sister Mitsuki. During the course of the series, and especially in the first episodes, she tries too hard to be the cold one who likes to be harsh and hurtful during her conversations with her friends, especially with Akihito. However, she's absolutely nothing close to Hitagi Senjouhara, and she does not even fill the shoes of the tsundere character.
Fortunately, the worst parts of the show end with her, as the animation is amazing and fluid. KyoAni is one of the best companies out there when talking about animation and art, so it wasn't surprising that Beyond the Boundary looked beautiful from beginning to end. The music and sound were good, too. However, the OST didn't stand out as much as the OP (I love Minori Chihara's voice) and the ED.
I had a lot of fun watching this show. It had an interesting story, beautiful animation and great songs, and most of the characters were fun and likeable. However, I liked it more when the show didn't want to be serious. As I've said, the best parts of the anime were when the characters interact with each other, having fun taking down pervert monsters or when Akihito and Hiromi were discussing how perfect Mirai was for them. I particularly liked the relationship between Akihito and Mirai. You could feel how comfortable they felt around each other, especially at the end of the anime, even when the final battle was taking place.
I can't wait to see the mirai-hen movie, as it will most likely give more development for our main characters.

SPOILERS AHEAD
If you're a person like me who shipped Kyon and Yuki since The Disappearance movie (it's even in my nickname), then don't expect that much from this adaption, because you will only get a pretty cliché romcom. Why? Well, it has everything that would define something like it: ruined love confessions (check), misunderstandings (check), fluffy scenes between the main characters (check), an ending that doesn't round up anything thanks to some freaking fireworks (check).
I expected a good resolution from this, something that would only be read or seen in fanfictions, something that would make my "dreams come true", but the series took the easy
...
way, wasting 13 episodes with absolutely nothing and 3 amazing ones to end with a "you didn't hear what I said because of the fireworks, right?" For an ending like that, I would prefer Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.
With my hope at 100%, I started loving the series because it gave me what I wanted: more from the world of Haruhi and a genuine love story between Nagato and Kyon. I didn't even care for those 13 episodes of nothing because I thought that at least at the end, the series would give me a kiss or a solid confession or something that would make me spend 50 dollars for the release. Hell, I was so wrong.
At least, these series gave me one of my favorite songs im Japanese (i.e. Arigatou, daisuki, the ED song beautifully sung by Minori Chihara), more from the original dub cast, and 3 interesting episodes (with some little touches of Serial Experimes Lain) where we could see the Nagato from the original series.
Yes, these series was a real disappointment. There are few things to save from this adaption. It was good at the beginning, interesting development at final part of the series, an amazing ending song. It even reunited the old cast from the original series. But no, I won't waste my money on something that ended in such a mediocre point. As I said before, I prefer Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun because it at least have some of the best comedy out there that would make me rewatch it again and again, without any care of the final.
As far as I know, the manga isn't finished yet, so it might give me that ending that I expected since the moment I discover this spinoff. Maybe it will give me that ending that I wanted from this series.

Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon? is the most misleading title in anime I've ever seen, and it sure was, because, with that tile, it seemed that it would be some harem/fan service show were our main character saves girls, they fall for him ans throw their boobs at his face because why not.
Well, I was 50% right at the harem/fan service part, although it is pretty different from the general harem as it was more of "I like him because of what he does and his noble intentions" and that's all, no lusty feelings (except for the "villain" of
...
the series), but absolutely wrong about the main character, Bell, saving girls. In fact, the first thing we see is an amazing swordswoman kicking the ass of a minotaur in order to save Bell.
The series is set in a world where gods and goddesses descent from heavens to join humans, giving up their divine powers and establishing "familias", guilds in which adventurers join and receive the blessing of the god or goddess of that familia. Bell is part of the Hestia familia, which is one of the poorest of all, as he is the only member of that guild and the " headquarters" is just an old, tiny church.
The characters were the best part of the series. Bell is far more interesting than other characters, as his motivations are more human and feel natural. Besides, his powers actually have some kind of explanation, ome that goes along with the setting. And his relationship with Hestia is amazing! And yes, she's the boobilicious character that has appeared everywhere, but, to my surprise, that disn't define her character. The fan service was not a main part of the story, and that let Hestia and other girls feel like interesting characters with stories behind them, being two examples Liliruca and Ryu.
The animation was impressively good, being solid throughout the series. The battle in the middle part of the series one of the best of the year.
This is series I'd like to call the middle point between Log Horizon and SAO, as it has the characters and development of the first and the well done animation that define the second. This is a series I'd recommend to anyone looking for well done characters and relationships, and amazingly animated battles.
Don't miss it, and I hope that it gets a second season!

You anime fan, wanna know all the process that creates your favorite show? Well, look no further for this anime, Shirobako, is the best out there that can give you a glimpse of the production of an anime.
It all starts with a typical last episode from any slice of life anime: our cute group of girls are finishing their own cute project (in this case anime) for the cultural festival. And from there, we get to see how or cute group of girls grow in their professional lifes. They all have their own problems, their own struggles, and their own dreams.
What amazed me the most
...
of the show was how developed where their characters. Remember Angel Beats? Both Shirobako and Angel Beats share a thing in common: they both have a gigantic cast of characters. However, the lack of episodes in the latter left us without knowing the secrets behind some characters, such as TK. This didn't happen with Shirobako, as the 90℅ of its characters (which are all the main characters) got a well developed story. My two favorites were our main character, Aoi Miyamori, and the director, Kinoshita.
Another thing that I loved about Shirobako is that it tells us that in the anime industry, the director is not the only important worker. Shirobako gives us a sneak peak at the work of the animators, the drawers, the writers, the actors and the producers. It makes us remember that behind a Shinichiro Watanabe, a Hayao Miyasaki, and a Gen Urobuchi, there are lots of workers that do their best to create the anime that we watch in the screen.
But don't think that this anime shows an ideal workplace, where everything goes how it was planned, and all the workers are happy and lively. This anime also shows us that working in this industry is not fun, is not easy, and is not what you think it is. It can be harsh at moments, really stressful, and can destroy your own dreams if you don't handle it properly.
On the production values, Shirobako doesn't suffer in the animation nor in the soundtrack. Both of them are strong all over the series. The OPs and EDs are cute, but didn't stand out that much. You may also want to check out some production terms before watching this, as it uses lots of them, which may be difficult for people who doesn't know or use those words.
To sum up, Shirobako teaches us that the anime industry is not fun all the day. It is like any other job: stressful, hard, and not what the watchers might think it is. All the cast is full of colourful, amazingly well developed characters. It sometimes is a bit fast in their dialogues, and there may be limited information about the terms they use in those dialogues. But in spite of these little difficulties, this anime has gained a space in my heart and in my shelf (I'll definitely buy it when it's available), and has also become one of my favourites anime of all time.

At first, I hated this series. There was too much hype around it, at least in my country. I then tried the first season, and I liked it. However, that season ended up with massive plot holes that an anime only viewer, like me, would hate. To my luck, I finished Tokyo Ghoul a week before its sequel, Tokyo Ghoul Root A, started.
"COOL", I said, "I'll get the answers I need. And as this an original story to the series, I won't need to read all the manga". I felt really happy and paradoxically hyped. However, after two months, almost none of the answers I
...
wanted appeared. "CRAP", I said. "Now I have to wait for the next season to understand everything". It is hinted in the end of the last episode that there's going to be another sequel, but I'm now feeling annoyed.
I liked this season, though. It offered a very good character development for the guys of the CCG, like Akira, Amon, Suzuya, and Shinohara. It featured very good fight scenes, like the ones in the first episode and the two last ones. It also had a very good soundtrack. And that's it.
Kaneki almost had 10 lines in all the show, the Anteiku people appeared in the final act of the show, and the touching scenes of the last episode didn't have any effect on me.
In the end, I still don't know a lot of things of the show. This season really felt like a transition to the next season, because it was. It's impossible that things will be left like this. So yeah, I hope that there is another season (a 24 episodes season, please), so I can get the answers I want.
