- Both have a monster enemy (Titans in Shingeki no Kyojin and Guana in Sidonia) - Both have certain weaponry used to combat these enemies (3MDG in Shingeki no Kyojin and mechs in Sidonia) - Both have humanity pretty much driven into a corner as an effect of the monsters being hard to kill. In Shingeki no Kyojin humans are behind the Walls and in Sidonia there is a ship which wanders through space. - Both of them have protagonists who initially act outside of orders but get better about listening as the story progresses. - Differences are that Shingeki no Kyojin is just on the Earth in a sort of pseudo-medievalish/1800s type setting while Sidonia is sci-fi in space.

(Lisa / Shion). - Both have another protagonist/s who are on the run from the government (Nine and Twelve / Nezumi). - Both have the plot of the government not being just as it seems. - There are similarities between the characters of Nine and Twelve with that of Nezumi, with Nezumi having a combination of the other two's personality.
