this actually isnt my type of manga or series, im more into the slapstick, slice of life anime and manga from the 90s, but i think the inspiration for these characters is pretty obvious, so i decided to read it...
did you know this series has a soundtrack? i was confused at first because there's no anime or movie to pair it with. i guess maybe, they made one either as a stand-alone, or they made it and an animation adaptation got cancelled? just speculation. oh
