I dived into this anime not knowing much about it and just went straight into it and I was definitely surprised at the twist that came in EP2. The twist was so unexpected that some people began to drop it. Now just from the first episode itself, people might think it is a dupe of AoT/SnK. From my POV, if we take it as a whole – it's not. BUT, it is just as good!
One of the things that makes me love and enjoyed this so much was the character development. I have to say that this anime has one of the most solid character
...
development, and it was done truly well. The protagonist was endearingly likable and has the sunny-disposition MC trope personality to counter the desolate nature of her mentor. I adore the relationship between these two because the studio really paid attention to that by the amount of screentime and fleshing out their character developments together.
Talking about the story, I was completely absorbed because I do enjoy sci-fi and how they direct the plot. Some people do not enjoy twists, but I very much do. I love things that I cannot expect. Things fall into place as you go through the episodes. I did not feel any dissatisfaction as they didn't drag any parts just for the sake of filling the quota for an episode. One episode felt complete and not draggy, and this drives me to continue watching. It is also considered short as well, with only 12 episodes.
TLDR; I really enjoyed this and the last episode ties the whole anime well by itself. There were some questions that can certainly be exploited and I take that as a small hope for another season. Overall, the finale did tie the premise completely, though it leaves room for a season 2 if the studio wanted to do so! How I loved this, that I even wished for more. Went with little expectations, and maybe—you will be surprised as I am!

I am crying as I am writing this review. I'm not joking there are tears in the corners of my eyes. Finished the last episode and straight away got on MAL to write this review. Call me sentimental, I don't care (because it's true!)
Anyways.
The thing is, I don't really have a lot of expectations for animes with genre like this. I have watched a fair amount of slice-of-life anime but usually they revolve around humour and random shenanigans. My initial impression watching the first episode was that it was cute. Really cute. I am in my 20s but story about first loves still makes me
...
giddy. It's just something about first loves that makes it magical, beautiful and sometimes painful.
Not really into going about the technicalities of it. This review will be more about the story and how it makes me feel. That is why we watch stories. To feel and to understand.
The story is simple. Some people might say it's cliche. But everybody's got a first love, and so I am sure that everybody can relate to this. This sets in middle school so the characters are quite young. Their actions are depicted accordingly to their age. Their innocentness, their childishness, their impatientness, and their eagerness. It makes sense you know. Some just doesn't makes sense but yeah, they are teens.
I was half prepared, half not for the finale. I am not going to spoil the last episode but I was prepared to be hurt.
I did not expect that. But I'm glad that I watched this. It made me happy. So happy that I cried. So how can I not give this a 10? That would be unfair innit?
TLDR; this anime is for when you're tired, and you really can't be bothered to think much. You just wanna have your meal in front of your screen and just relax. If you need a casual, soft and laid-back anime fix, this one's for you guys.

I have been meaning to watch this whole series since it aired on television when I was a kid. Despite how old it is as it came out in 2004, it has all the good stuff, I mean adventure, mystery, romance, fantasy and sci-fi? Yeah, sign me up. But have you know, you are signing up for a shipwreck of feelings. Seriously, I guarantee you. Don't believe how kiddy it looks, its actually quite heavy and personally suitable for older generations.
Story: I'm a sucker for mystery, such that I have to know what's the big deal is. The plot is intriguing and as the story
...
unfolds, everything becomes clear. I will separate the entire series into two; the first part introduced the main characters alongside the supporting characters. The first part of the story tells you what the characters are searching for, and you don't really know what's going on. But I promise you, the latter part of the story is intense that you would definitely wouldn't want to miss. Basically, I love the plot, the story, it is entirely brilliant. It plays with reincarnation, and past life elements, and at the latter part of the story, most of the questions in my head had been answered.
Art: The art, well seeing as it came out in 2004, not much to be swoon upon, but the animation is quite fluid actually. The action parts are nicely done, and the expression of the characters are very unique, subtle almost and animation flows very neatly. The colors are nice, and the atmosphere of the overall story especially in the flashback scene is wonderful.
Sound: I love all the soundtracks used in the anime especially the opening and ending. The ending, Mizu no Madoromi is so rich, and it completely portrays the feelings of story which is melancholic and endearing.
Character: The main characters, especially Helga and Thoma had perfectly developed their character at the end of the anime. The Befort's Children, I had a hard time to understand as they seem to be expressionless. However, as the story progresses, they showed an immense character development and feelings. Every actions they did had a reason and not just there for show. I feel very strongly for Thoma, who is actually (yeah not going to spoil anything but if you think he's the other guy like what I originally think, then he's actually the other guy). Another character that I didn't expect to love was Dumas, or Damian. If you stick until the end, you'll know why. The feelings the characters had (especially Seth), are all portrayed powerfully and will definitely deal a blow to your heart.
Enjoyment: I hugely enjoyed the anime, as I think the story is a gem and I am very attached to some of the characters. It was a joy to watch their adventure and rooting for them to find what they are looking for despite all the hardships along the way. There isn't any other word to describe, because it is so different from all the other cliche animes. The only thing I regret is that I wish it had ended with my favorite ship. It is still amazing and 100% worth watching, nonetheless. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a ride in the ship of feelings.

"Did you know? Girls usually dates guys who are similar to their father."
Firstly, Itsuka Kimitachi mo Otona ni Naru is just an average shoujo manga with a plot that focuses on the relationship between a father, who is a high school teacher and his daughter.
I like how the author portrays the father as someone whose past was more or less similar with the guy her daughter is dating. The heroine is not too boring but I can't say her character sways that much from the cookie-cutter heroine.
The plot doesn't drags on too much. If you're looking for a quick reading or wanting to read
...
a light, comedy shoujo, then this is for you. It's not something memorable, but the relationship between the father and the daughter is quite adorable.
All in all, this manga satisfies me when I'm in need of a quick fix of normal-shoujo-but-not-typical-school-girls-love.
