Yaoi has an awful reputation, but here are two works that I would call beautiful. While they have fairly different settings, both stories are well-done, with heroes you want to cheer for. The supporting cast in both series' are amazingly well-crafted for the genre. I definitely reccomend them both.

Seven Days

They both are BL love stories about kids in high school or junior high. While they were both very cute stories, the characters were real, fun, and likeable. Also, Maigo is a collection of one-shots while Seven Days is a two-volume story.

Of course you can't make a manga if you can't draw, but there's something about the artwork in both of these yaoi titles that kept astonishing me. Also, both stories are tied to organized crime. Last Client has some comedic elements while I think Ake is more emotionally involving. Last Client, unfortunately, looks like it's on a permanent hiatus, while Ake is a short series.

Ouran is a celebrated, successful, long-running, often brilliant shoujo rom-com, and Te Tsunagi Gokko is an ordinary volume-length yaoi manga, so it is not for all fans of Ouran. However, fans of Ouran's twins might enjoy the twin dynamics of Te Tsunagi Gokko.

Both series feature Intersexuals as protagonists. I.S. is a heartwarming, true-to-life story and exposé about the lives of Intersexuals. After School Nightmare is less sensitive about Intersex issues, and uses it more of a plot device, albeit a brilliant one. Both series feature Intersex protagonists who struggle with their gender identity and romance, and both are worth the read.
