Okay, I'm not really a part of this website's community, I really just use it as an anime database. I also am not that good at writing reviews, but it's been weeks since this movie has been out on dvd and no one has written a review, so as a fan of the series and this movie I am going to have to do that. First of all, I can see why there are no reviews on MAL yet, this movie still isn't subbed. My Japanese skills are limited, since I'm not a fluent speaker yet, but I have been learning legitimately for about a ... year and some months (I don't speak super kawaii desu), which means I can catch on to a lot of individual words and small sentences which helps me get an idea of what's going on. I also saw the series, which helped out. Well, anyway, to sum up, I am writing a review based on what I saw, I didn't understand every word of it (especially the big sciency words), but I did get the jist of the story.
First off, you don't even have to speak Japanese to tell this movie is rushed, although it's not as much of a wreck as Unlimited Blade Works, it's pacing is still kind of hectic, if you are going to watch this movie, whether you understand japanese or not, please watch the series first or you will be somewhat confused.
It is a remake of the series, so you will see some differences from the series, which to me are welcomed. I can't really say much or I risk spoiling the movie.
As with most Gekijouban, Utsuwari no Utahime's strong point is NOT the story, although the story isn't bad, what really takes it away is the presentation. This movie is a classic example of what you can do to a masterpiece of the series when given a lot more money to do a remake. The animations and fight scenes were absolutely amazing, probably the best animations I have ever seen. They were so good, at times I just found myself just completely awed by how good it was. Everything just went so far above the series, including Sheryl's concerts, the Frontier itself, the looks of the ships and vajra, the explosions, the macross cannon, ect.
The music was what stayed the most faithful to the series, although we get pretty much the same music maybe 1 or 2 new songs, it was not a letdown any less than the rest of the movie. Because one of the coolest things about Macross F was how they presented the animations during the music, such as concerts and ect. Well, they take it to a whole new level in this movie, what eyes can do to your music listening experience is just absolutely amazing, the director definitely knows this, and used it to their full advantage.
If I had to pick a weakness of this movie though was that there wasn't nearly as much action as I thought there was going to be. Especially for a gekijouban of a mech series. Mech Gekijouban usually say "screw the story" and give us action every 5 seconds. There really is only action in the beginning and end of the movie, with the middle being dramatic build up and story. Which isn't really bad, but they could have put a fight in the middle, that actually would have been pretty nice. Even if there wasn't as much action as there could have been, the action we did get was supurb, and the story was different enough from the series to constantly keep you somewhat on edge. The story goes up to about episode 7 in the series, when the Galaxy gets attacked by the vajra, but the ending is different than what happened in the series, so look forward to that.
Character-wise, Sheryl definitely played a bigger role with the vajra than she did in the series, but Ranka hasn't really done much in this movie. And Alto is the same Alto.
Overall, this movie was really damn good. If you are a fan of Macross F I strongly recommend you watch this whenever it's subbed. There is definitely enough changes to keep you interested. I now can't wait for the second movie, after watching this one, I wonder what kind of "different ending" they are going to give us, well, if anyone wants to give me a ticket to fly to Japan in February I'll gladly accept it.

Blood+ was my first step to more mature anime. I saw it back when I was about 15, when Naruto, Bleach, and DBZ were by far my favorite anime. And after watching Blood+, it completely overshadowed them. I always had a love of dark, sadistic, and stylish things, which is exactly what Blood+ is. The story was dark, it had a strong vampire based storyline, and it wasn't just about getting stronger and stopping evil, there is lust, revenge, depression, ect. The artwork was at the time really good, but that was 2005 I think, now-a-days it could be considered decent. The music was hit-or-miss, ... some of the OP and ED I loved, but some of them I despised. The characters worth pointing out IMO are Saya (protagonist) and Haji (most stylish sidekick ever). Haji is by far the best character in the show, and it doesn't take long to realize this, his loyalty to Saya is absolute, and he his style is really awesome. He throws knives, has a demon hand, and beats enemies down with a cello case, all while maintaining his "swagger". Overall, the main flaw of this anime would have to be the fact that at times it did get pretty boring, there would be episodes of complete build-up, which weren't exciting at all, but after about episode 39, it becomes a complete rollercoaster ride. Overall, this is one of the better vampire based anime I have seen, although the side-kick steals the story, it still is a pretty good anime.

The OVA based on a song by Supercell using the voice of Hatsune Miku (Vocaloid). Sounds like an awful idea and a complete failure, right? Well, according to most people, yes, most people with no taste hated it, but I thought it was pretty damn epic. It is a story taking place in the real world, while the batte scenes are used to show the figurative parts of the movie and also foreshadow upcoming events, and in the end also ties into the story.
The animations were absolutely amazing, some people said they sucked for some reason..... but I honestly can't not find out why, ... I found them to be completely my type. The character designs were actually really really good, the fight scenes were really exciting even if this was a life-drama. And it did more with it's action than most action anime can't even dream of doing. Overall, I watched this film because I saw the trailer and saw how good it looked. Yes, I am shallow like that, but I can't fully enjoy an anime with shitty art.The OST for the most part only consisted of parts that involved fight scenes, and the ending. The thing that bugs me though, is the fact that Black Rock Shooter does not play Black Rock Shooter in the film, which is weird. Why would you make an anime about a song, and then not play the song? Well, it's whatever though, since the ED song made up for it, and the rest was decent, although for the most part there really wasn't any music playing at all.The story is a simple one, two girls becomes best friends, the protagonist starts neglecting her best friend for the basket ball team manager, which leads to her friend getting jealous, turning into an evil force and disappearing. The protagonist realizes that it's her fault she disappeared and the main conflict is getting her back. Overall it's a fairly sweet anime about yuri friendship. Okay, joking on the yuri part, but it would be nice, wouldn't it?

This is probably one of the most perverted and one of the most funny anime I have ever seen. It is also very original, this is the first series I have seen where the main character is a hot and perverted girl, its usually one or the other. This show is so damn ridiculous, it makes fun of EVERYTHING about romantic comedies, from the stereotypical rich pretty boy to hot high school girls. It is definitely a show worth anybody's time. And the jokes in the show also never gets old, even though it is repeated through out the series. The show is never bland, ... and it stays as perverted as ever all the way through. I can't really find that many big flaws in this one, but at times it does make it feel like having sex in highschool is mandatory for anyone who isn't ugly. This show is definitely worth watching though, it is ridiculously funny and perverted, but it also has its sweet moments. For the main part though, it is mostly funny and perverted, which I love, man shit, this show is awesome.

The show that should have been longer. I loved Angel Beats! but it had some fairly big flaws, and most of these flaws are due to the fact that the show was only 13 episodes when it should have been at least 20. The biggest flaw of the show is the fact that not all the characters were built upon, out of it's huge cast you only get to learn about the past lives of 6 characters. The story reaches a resolution pretty quickly, and what should have been the purpose of the show gets mostly resolved without the main characters doing anything, mainly ... due to the other flaws. Well, with all of the flaws out of the way lets get to the good part. It is a mix of pretty much every genre, which is really fun. There are gun battles, tear jerking moments, mysteries, comedy, and lots more. The comedy is legitimately funny, the sad moments are pretty damn sad, and the gun battles are exciting. Everything that this show tries to make you feel you feel, which is rare. The animation is really high quality, it is one of this anime's strong points. Another strong point of this anime is the epic Ost, the only song I really didn't like was the ending theme, which they quit using after a while, the show actually has characters that are part of a band, and it is some of the best anime music i have ever heard, in fact, while i am writing this review I am listening to it's OST. The ending is also really really good, which actually surprised me, I honestly thought it would just end, I dunno why, but I didn't have nearly as high expectations for it as it gave me. Overall, Angel Beats! is really good, but it just doesn't feel complete, but I believe it is definitely entertaining enough to give a try.

Plenty of people have written about how great this film is, but I am going to too, just because it is that good and deserves it. The most realistic anime film I have ever seen, there are no miracles, magic, random comedy, over-the-top action or drama, it is just realistic and beautiful. By realistic I mean that in more than two ways, the animations are the most detailed I have ever seen in anime, it is so detailed it felt like it could be life, in fact, it seemed like you were watching life in blu-ray. The other way it felt realistic was the storyline ... and characters, as I said there is no magic that goes on here, there is no unrealistic miracles or superpowers or anything of the sort, the storyline is something that can happen to anyone but it is told in such a way to make it feel more powerful than some of the better fantasies I have seen. This is by far Makoto Shinkai's best work if you ask me.
The amount of detail that goes into EVERYTHING is so amazing I feel like I can live in that world, pretty much, the animations were done on such a level that it goes above the limit. The OST was also amazing, it fit into the story and backgrounds so nicely, overall the animations and the ost were the perfect blend that made the story and characters stand out, it made you feel what they were going through, and it made you feel as if you should watch this film over and over again, it pretty much had perfect presentation. The storyline is also amazing, it is a story told through a mix of all the other elements that goes into this story. What I mean by that is the story is told through pretty much what is character's monologues, they tell the story by comparing it to their surroundings, and the epic music helps build the mood. Overall it is just the perfect blend in where the animations, ost, and personification of just about everything around them. It doesn't have the intensity that Ef has or Clannad's tear jerking moments, but it manages to be completely touching and heartwarming while not having any overly dramatic moments. Overall, it puts the melo in melo-drama. One last thing, the first time I watched this I was stoned off my ass and expected a stereotypical romance anime film ending and was dissapointed, and came back unstoned and completely loved it. To sum it all up, this is a story told by soliloquy, personification on a higher scale, crazy animations that make you feel the great obsticals the characters try to overcome, and epic music to create the mood. It is completely origional in every way, it feels completely genuine and is a heartwarming story with a life lesson: life aint a damn fairy tale, miracles don't really happen, get over it and move on with life!
