This anime feels like what happens when someone wanted to write trash isekai but they were accidentally really good at writing.

There's a ridiculously OP main character, but his OPness actually causes him lots of problems and isn't his one-shot solution to everything. His character is consistent but isn't just a a flat goody-two-shoes or derpy character. He's got depth and gives reason to care about his struggles.

The world has the standard adventurers guild / hero must fight the demons setup, but it's only a part of a great amount of world building. You actually get to learn the what and why of what's going on ... instead you just having to accept that's the way the world works.

There's fan service / harem, but it's not over the top and generally has an actual impact on the story instead of just being there for the sake of being there. More importantly, all these characters have their own depth and struggles and character building.

Season 1 was great, and Season 2 is keeping on the same pace and great writing hitting all the above points. The animation quality also appears to have had a big upgrade, and Season 2 is looking beautiful.

Overall, it has all the base ingredients needed for a good trash isekai, but they tossed out the cookbook and went into the kitchen ready to serve.

This anime doesn't really bring anything new to the table, it brings *everything* to the table. This anime is a parody that lays down trope after trope while cramming entire arcs into each episode behind super cheesy lines. Nearly everything that happens is an overexaggerated play on things that happen in other fantasy anime.

I think the biggest issue with the anime is that this does not seem to be what it was well marketed as. However, getting upset at this anime for not taking itself seriously is like shunning Scary Movie for being a bad true horror movie. This anime isn't here to develop ... a serious story. It's here for people who want something light hearted to watch while laughing at stupid fantasy tropes, and it does that very well.

The first episode is a good litmus test if you're going to enjoy the silly humor throughout the rest of the anime. If you thought the first episode was stupid, this kind of humor is probably not your cup of tea. If you enjoyed the first episode, you'll probably enjoy the rest of the show.
