I love sloppy little garbage ass isekai's, I love garbage anime in general because they can be so accidently funny. But through all the shit if sifted through this anime is surely something that got wrongly tossed into the gutter.

For an anime a cut above the common isekai/fantasy anime there's truly been a lot of shade thrown at it and a lot people fuming at it for some reason. But having said that, short little review time.

The main difference between this anime and many others like it is its less horny and the story, while not the most revolutionary, is actually pretty well ... put together. I was truly surprised by the show because of my preconceived notions caused by its mal score which indicated "sloppy little garbage isekai" despite the fact that it definitely was not.

Watch If:
You dislike all the horny ass protagonists in many anime similar to this one
You like magic school anime
You like gag humor
You enjoy watching fairly average anime

Don't Watch If:
Your horny
You like self insert horny protags
You only wanna watch a masterpiece of fiction
You dislike overly nice guy protags (though this one is 1000 times more bearable than any other nice guy protag)

Conclusion/TL;dr:
The show is fairly average but when pitted against others in its genre it comes out ahead as above average, it doesn't rely on very much fanservice except for a little bit of power fantasy fanservice but even then it's sparse enough to where even if you don't like that kind of thing it might not bother you. The show does a commendable job in general (especially its fire ass opening transition) until you get to the ending and sigh in defeat over the fact that they made THAT the ending of every episode (really my only major gripe though). At the end of the day, a worthwhile 4 hours spent watching anime.

It has been a while since I've watched this show, but the fact that it's one of the few anime I've ever rated a 1/10 I figured I'd give it a review.

Soul Eater NOT, A.K.A. Identity Crisis the Animation:

This show was a major disappointment. Far more of a disappointment than anything I have ever watched, and I have no problem with shoujo-ai slice of life anime. In fact its one of my favorite genres. My problem isn't that this isn't a "proper" sequel to soul eater, my problem is that it was very poorly executed. They couldn't decide whether they wanted it to be ... a battle shounen like soul eater or a slice of life and that's where they failed. It was a gross mix of the two. If they had committed to one or the other I think they could've pulled it off, because as is apparent it was far too difficult for the studio to pull off both. In fact, the title itself should've clued you in on this, but I was too naive and went ahead and watched it anyway.

TLDR: This anime is NOT soul eater, and that would be okay if they had pulled it off well, but they didn't so you should NOT watch it.
