Mitsuboshi Colors
add

Both anime revolve around the MCs playing "pretend"....to varying extents. In "Mitsuboshi Colors" the MCs are elementary school students who play pretend as the protectors of their town with the local policeman and the grandfatherly "Pops" facilitating their activities. In "Chuunibyou" the MCs are high-school students who either formerly suffered or currently suffer from a delusional syndrome making them think and act as if they lived in a fantastical realm. In either case both anime ask a pertinent question (atleast IMO): "If you let your imagination run wild and experience such fantastical delusions that cause no harm to anyone else....are you really suffering? Or have you finally found an escape from life's miseries?"

Hakumei to Mikochi
add

At the surface "Mitsuboshi Colors" and "Hakumei to Mikochi" may not seem to have anything in common. The former is a comedy about the everyday antics of a trio of kids who play "pretend" as the saviors of their town whilst the latter is an all-out Iyashikei about a duo of "tiny people" living their life in close harmony with animals in a forest. However, what brings this shows together is the underlying theme of innocence...something that we adults no longer even strive to regain. Be it the nonsensical innocence of "Colors" conjuring up absurd scenarios to emerge as the saviors of their town or the more compassionate innocence of "Hakumei and Mikochi" towards their fellow animal companions. If it's one thing that both shows manage to draw out of a person, it would be a heartfelt acknowledgement of childhood and the innocence that was lost with its passing.

Tales of Zestiria the Cross
add

Both anime involve intricate world-building and can be classified as high-fantasy shows with a strong focus on epic fight sequences and action. And yes....both shows involve DRAGONS...and epic ones at that! "Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis" is superior in terms of lore-building, character development and plot progression. "Tales of Zestiria the Cross" is superior in terms of animation simply because it is ufotable. As expected of them, the handling of the CGI and it's integration with 2-D animation is flawless throughout the series.

ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka
add

Both "ACCA-13" and "Saraiya Goyou" are cool and mature shows in that they feature zero fan-service, zero character tropes and zero anime cliches. The characters from both shows have this aura of composure and levelheadedness that is almost ethereal. Whilst "ACCA-13" is a unique political thriller based in an exotic setting, "Saraiya Goyou" is a Japanese period drama (set in the samurai-era) about two men, forsaken by society, who help each other fight their inner demons and find purpose in life.

Yagate Kimi ni Naru
add

Both are Yuri anime with "Citrus" focused on the romance between step-sisters while "Bloom into You" is based on a high-school romance between a senpai and her kouhai. Both shows involve pairing-up of a kind and free-spirited girl with our MC who has shackled herself to her past....and both anime revolve around how the free-spirited girl helps our MC to break-free of her self-induced shackles. However, the resolution of this conflict is executed far better in "Bloom into You" than in "Citrus". While "Bloom into You" never loses it's edge in character development, "Citrus" begins to falter after six episodes with the introduction of unnecessary mini-arcs and multiple one-episode-long love-triangles.

Both anime include hilarious, over-the-top depictions of seemingly mundane everyday situations. Both are absolutely great slapstick comedies that happened to air at the same time: summer of 2018.

Hakumei to Mikochi
add

Both shows are exemplary Iyashikei (comforting / soul-healing) anime. Whilst Aria is centered around exploring the lives of Undines in Neo-Venezia, Hakumei to Mikochi revolves around the lives of tiny people living in the forest alongside animals. The musical score is excellent in both anime...and is designed to have a calming effect on the viewer. IMO... what really connects the two shows together is the characters' uncomplicated and positive outlook towards life. In that sense, the shows share a certain level of innocence that is heartwarming as well as something that all adults ought to learn from.

3D Kanojo: Real Girl
add

Both 3D Kanojo as well as Golden Time are unique to the romance genre. Neither beats around the bush when it comes to developing the relationship between the MCs. Most importantly, both series boast of audacious DEREDEREs as their heroines (Igarashi Iroha and Kaga Kouko) who are completely dedicated towards the person whom they are in love with.

Similar animation style and music (well it's the same studio ^_^). Both Aria and Tamayura are soul-soothing anime that heal us from within with their endearing characters, extraordinarily uncomplicated storyline and a laid-back setting. Both anime compel us to re-focus our attention on some of the subtle hues of everyday life that actually impart beauty to our existence.
