I really loved this anime. At first I had troubles getting into it, Bocchi wasn't really relatable, but she grew on me, you can't help but root for her. What I really like about this anime, is how they treat her character development. You can't really have a character like her stay the completely same throughout the whole show, that would be annoying, you can't have her develop and get better too quickly, that would be unrealistic. I think they struck a perfect chord (haha get it, it's a music anime) with her character development. Compared to the beginning she's much better, but she still

When it came to animation and overall direction this show took, I was blown away. No really, this show is one of the most creative shows I've ever seen. The amount of fun the creators had with this one, just oozes out of every gag. They use different styles of animation, they do real life footage, they play with clay, old animation techniques, etc. It's just really fun to see so many different creative decisions, that really make the show feel fresh and make it stand out. Plus the animation overall is really nice. It's well drawn, the characters are always nice to look at and there is nothing to complain about. And when they play on their instruments, oh god it's such an eye candy, just joy to look at. They sometimes use CGI, that's understandable, but I gotta say, the CGI looked incredible, I loved how the CGI looked and how well it was done and implemented.
And obviously it's a music anime, so how is the music? The music is really great, I think they made a good job in that department, the songs are fun and enjoyable, well written and instrumented. Although I didn't find myself going back to listen to the music on my own, I still think it's really great and makes the show so enjoyable.
You also can't forget about the cast, which consists of the band members and a few other reocuring characters. All have their own very distinct personalities and bring something new to the table, it's a really good blend. I personally enjoyed the character of Ryo the most, she is the introverted girl who plays bass and is just infinitely hilarious. It's just also really nice to see how they all support Bocchi, it is really heartwarming to see them actually care for her and try their best to help her, it just melts my heart sometimes.
Overall, this anime really surprised me, I enjoyed it way more than I expected I would. It was a fun watch and probably one of the best music anime to come out in recent years. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone, who just wants to watch a fun, laid back anime, about some niche thing and not to deal with anything too heavy, but also enjoy a good plot, characters, art, music and well just overall an amazingly directed show.

!This review will contain spoilers, especially the later parts of the manga!
I have to start off with saying, that I really enjoyed reading this manga. It had an interesting premise and a unique vision, cool characters, nice art style and emotional moments. The first half of the story is absolutely great, I loved how the characters interacted between each other and how the character of Takemitchi developed. I really enjoyed that his strength wasn't his fighting proves, like the rest of the cast, rather his tenacity and never giving up, even in the toughest of situations, he was really
...
admirable and inspirational, and I liked that.
Around the half way point, the story started to feel a bit repetitive; he goes back in time, there's a big fight between 2 gangs, he goes back in time, future changes usually in a good way, but something always goes extremely south and then repeat. But the stories and scenarios were fun to witness, and I was excited to see how will his actions affect the future. So even though it felt repetitive, it wasn't that bad.
So majority of the manga was really good and fun, then the last part came. Ever since the first chapter of the final arc, it felt sorta rushed and not really all that thought out. I still continued to read it weekly, but at that point, my interest in this series dropped considerably. Even though it felt rushed, I still enjoyed to see Takemitchi form his new gang, but I was so mad when he didn't name the gang Tokyo Revengers, I know it's corny and cliché, but honestly it would have been really satisfying and cool. Well whatever, that's just a nitpick. During the last battle is when the shit really got bad for me. Author was pulling one plot twist after another, in a span of a few chapters, our whole understanding of this whole series changed. Some stuff felt just lazy, like Mikey's dark impulses, it was never explained with much depth, even when there were flashbacks and stuff, it just didn't make much sense. Then there was the climax in which I guess Takemitchi dies, but doesn't actually, this time he gets teleported to when both him and Mikey were just kids and now they both know each other and grow up together as friends. By that, they save every single person who died throughout the series. Not only did this resolution lasted like 3/4 chapters at most, it also basically undermined the whole story and any weight that the character's deaths had. It was basically just deus ex machina to finish off the story. It felt so lazy, so underwhelming and clearly it was just a move to not upset any more of the fans. So instead of finishing with a meaningful ending, although a bitter sweet or even tragic one, and having a great conclusion, we got the equivalent of a 5th grader writing "And then he woke up.." at the end of his essay. The ending completely ruined this whole manga for me and that's why I'm not even sure, if I should recommend it or not.
But I'd say most people aren't as picky about endings as I am. I suppose the majority of people prefer happy endings and if you like this sort of stuff, then yeah, go ahead and read this, you'll have a great time. If you enjoy stories that have real and impactful endings, that make sense and hit hard, maybe skip this one or end it before the final arc starts, cause you'll be left underwhelmed, just like I was.

Won't really tell much about the story, since it's only 4 minutes long it feels like any major information would be a spoiler. This feels like a small passion project of one person. The animation is rough but colorful and full of uniqueness, it's not very smooth but it gets the job done. Story is fairly straightforward but lacks any sort of substance. It's supposed to be some sort of a ghost story but it feels kinda pointless. The whole thing is made up on a single premise and then a shocking event that acts as the plot point of the story. The ending is
...
sorta confusing, we don't know if it's before or after the events, we don't know if they are dead or alive and we don't know their motivations behind their actions. The sound in this is very bad. The music is fine and fits the theme especially in the climax but the voice over quality is really bad. It sounds like someone recorded it on their headset microphone which they probably did. But overall when you view this as a passion project of one person it's fairly okay, there's potential and the animation is really the only thing that stands out. As a work of maybe an art student or someone with great passion I think it holds up pretty well. 6/10
